hiatus again
but i don't think transmen should count because they dont really have the male part?
Trans*men are men. Cissexism will not be tolerated here. Please stop.
The fact that I don't care about the labels and problems that come with labels suddenly justify me doing these problematic things: the best of DirkJane shippers IV.
About DirkJane and DirkRoxy and why DirkJake isn't the solution to the problem
So recently there has been some drama in the DirkJane tag about how shipping Dirk with Jane is queer erasure. I agree. So is Dirk/Roxy. And frankly, Dirk being shipped with any other female would be. There has also been a few posts saying that Dirk having a relationship with Jake is the solution to the problem of queer erasure. Sure, it solves the problem that Dirk is in fact only romantically attracted to men, but it doesn’t at all solve the problem that Dirk would still be in a very problematic relationship.

I agree with most parts of this (except a bit on parts about Jake, but that does not belong in this blog).
All these ships have problematic aspects, and it is important that shippers need to be aware of them.
i'm not going to stop shipping dirkjane, but i understand where the frustration comes from. i will continue to ship the ship, but i will be mindful of the problems with it and be sure to make sure those who also ship it understand what's wrong with it.
Thank you. This is essentially what I've been asking for.
At first I thought this was a sarcastic blog, but then I actually looked at more post and realized, you're one of the people in the fandom that actually has common sense! Finally
Thank you for the compliment.
I completely understand that queer erasure is a problem, but I want to ask a question. Do you intend to say that a person, who is attracted to one specific sex, cannot become attracted to someone of a sex other than the one they're originally attracted to? How many straight people do we see worrying about if they're gay or not, because they have an interest of someone of the same sex? Thai is a possibility with anyone attracted to a single gender.
What I intend is that sexuality fluidity does exist, but it is not true for everyone. Not all people's sexuality is fluid. People should not use that to erase non-fluid homosexuality.
Honestly I do not how many people worrying that they are gay or not. I am more concerned about queer people.
This might be a weird question, but in the case that Dirk is shipped with a character who is female in canon, but depicted as male (either in fanfiction or fanart), would you feel that the ship is okay now because it's no longer queer erasure? Or would the whole "genderbending" make the ship problematic in a different way?
I am not so sure about gender-bending a character for the sake of the ship, and so I think I have to reserve my opinion on that.
Don't get me wrong, this blog did help me get a better grasp of queer erasure, but I don't like the way you're going about explaining it to other dirkjane shippers. It's borderline harassment.
I do not think it's harassment. I screen-cap the problematic things said by dirkjane shippers, and then respond to them with sarcasm. If people come to discuss with me by sending ask or reblogging my post, then I will educate.
But if you have suggestions for how to better run this blog, feel free to tell me. Be noted that I do not generally condone tone policing.
oh god, the queer erasure thing is back in the DirkJane tags.
Guys, I thought we resolved this weeks ago. Everything was fuckin fine.
dirkjaneshipperstuck can you please not bring this back? We’re all sick and tired of you screencapping our shit out of context, or mocking us due to our ships. There are better ways to go about this than sarcastically mocking people and making them look bad, and we get your point, we understand how the damn ship can be harmful and we acknowledge it.
So please stop.
Goddamit if I start getting anon hate because of this again I’m outie because I am not going to deal with this shit again.
Please do not send this person hate. I am glad that you understand my point. Do not worry I will stop in a few days.
Do you plan on doing any other blogs for different characters? I have found this to be extremely enlightening and I was wondering if you'd cover anyone else.
Thank you and I am glad that you find this blog enlightening!
I once planned to do dirkjake [on abuse apologism] and dirkroxy [on queer erasure and possibly sexual harassment], but now it is already difficult to maintain this blog. The dirkjake one surely is going to take much more time than this one.
I am sure that there are people who can cover more things even better than I did though.
Honestly, this blog, to me, is quite enlightening about queer erasure,as I didn't really know about it before. DirkJane is actually one of my OTP's, but now I understand that it is problematic, is queer erasure, and that people are bound to be uncomfortable with it. uvu It's a really cute ship, but hey
Thank you so much for your understanding. I am happy that my blog has succeeded in what I have intended for it to be.
puppy-eater(.)tumblr(.)com/post/58423820183/the-cnn-article-and-the-pie-chart-okay-so-this You might wanna take a minute to read this.

Okay, I’ve read this, and while I agree with several points, I disagree with many points too.
1. “Most [queer] erasure happens to Bi, Pan, and Multi-sexual people” I do not see the statistics or evidence on this. Based on my personal experience, homosexual people are erased too, e.g. with the words like “it’s just a phase” “you never try having sex with people with opposite gender, yet how could you know?”
2. The OP does not give any arguments why “queer erasure is not shipping a homosexual character in a heterosexual relationship.” My arguments about why shipping dirk/fem is queer erasure can be found on my primer.
3. I think the OP’s definition of queer erasure is quite limited. Again check my primer.
aw are you not going to do dirkjakeshippersstuck and dirkroxyshippersstuck anymore :((
Probably not, and I think I am going to abandon this one soon. Also I lost both of the urls, due to Tumblr staffs forcing me to release them.
FUN FACT: op of /post/58410505469/ is the same person as /post/58406734234/
I am not surprised that people who justify queer erasure have a poor understanding of the issue itself.
This whole blog frustrates me. Queer erasure does matter. Hell my sexuality is so vague I have to explain myself every single time it comes up. Except for a thing; Some Homosexuals still may have romantic feelings for those of the opposite gender. Please stop posting in the tag. I'm sure the shippers that do this get the message. I can't even think of Dirkjane without thinking Careful of Queer erasure.
So, how you could explain that these people on my posts that blatantly justifying queer erasure then. I am greatful that you recognize the aspect in your ship, but if you would rather have a problem with this blog than educate other people that still do not get the concept, I think you need to re-evaluate your priority.
