BttP: Cat Bros { Dirk/Kamil }
taciturnflowerprince:
Kamil couldn’t help the small snort that escaped him when Dirk got scratched, darting off away from the pair afterwards. Disappointed, Kamil turned his attention to his bandmate, sighing as he shook his head.
“How many times do I have to say this, Dirk,” Maybe he should just start making tips up, bet Dirk would buy a book of them. “There’s no secret… though, cats aren’t a huge fan of numbskulls, so you and Kana might both be outta luck.”
“Seriously, just try giving them treats or something first. I even have some cash on me, so we can grab some sardines or something and try again you big baby.”
Dirk wasn’t satisfied with Kamil’s answer and his head still insisted Kamil had some secret up his sleeve that he wasn’t sharing. “That’s only half true. Kana’s an idiot but animals like him.” He says this matter-of-factly, well aware of the horse afficionado’s luck with animals and monsters. When Kamil speaks once more, Dirk suddenly had an epiphany.
“...so basically bribery?” Dirk hasn’t tried that approach before. Most of his lunch were food he made, and food he made wasn’t all that good in the first place. “If you’re spending, then i’m not saying no! Show me your secrets, Cat Prince.”
Quiet Bar Nights { Dirk/Claire }
crimsoncxmellia:
Claire sucked in air through her teeth and exhaled with an “Oooohhh,” showing sympathy for her coworker. “That sucks, man. I just went back and forth with the whole me-throwing-fire and him slicing-and-dicing.” Claire sighed and nodded. “Maybe I need to work on my fighting. I used more magic than hands-on stuff.”
“Hey, watch it buddy.” Claire pointed an accusatory finger at Dirk, her cheeks dusting pink at the joke. She couldn’t say she’d mind per se, but she highly doubted that were the case. They did hurt one another pretty badly in that arena… Claire shook her head and sighed once more. “Yeah, guess we should all be thanking the Goddess for keeping our unlucky asses alive, huh?”
“You and me both, boss. Nothing like good ol physical training.” Having an enchanted sword was fun and all, but it can’t help if the swordsmanship itself is lacking.
Dirk finishes cooking the patty and proceeded to finishing preparing the meal. When he comes back, he has two plates of chili burger. “Aww,you’re blushing. Maybe you have the hots for him.”
Dirk places both plates down and sits right down, a teasing grin on his face, “Just kidding boss~ please don’t fire me. I’m thanking the Goddess right now for such a great boss~”
Bearer of Bad News {dirk/georgia}
rxzberries:
[🐎] — Georgia is too perturbed to even react to his usual brand of teasing, her attention solely on Dirk as he attempts to explain himself, face set into an expectant look of annoyance, foot tapping impatiently against the floor, with the hand not holding Kana’s firmly placed on one hip. Her body language was very openly aggressive, and it held a silent promise that there would most definitely be hell to pay if Dirk’s explanation didn’t satisfy her.
And even if the mention of Kana taming a dragon – what the heck was up with that name, though –warms her heart a bit, it’s not enough to keep her frustrations at bay, especially when he tries to justify her boyfriend getting knocked out with the fact that they got some… spear? The more she stares at it, the more annoyed she feels. Really… a spear? A dumb spear? Was that what all of this was for?!
“Dirk.” She says sternly, voice thick with edge. “A stupid SPEAR does not justify Kana almost dying, so don’t even give me that!” Personal space is entirely disregarded as she leans forward and starts ranting at him. In one fluid motion she removes her hand from her hip and reaches it out to grab at his collar. Not too roughly though, because, hey– this idiot had injuries, too. “This could have been prevented! Did you knuckleheads even try to come prepared?! Armor, protective gear? What about healing, did you even think of that? Huh?!”
Now, apologizing and admitting blame Dirk can take. This is his fault. But to point a finger at him and insist he was completely careless with no regard to either of their safety? Dirk didn’t like that one bit. He was just as concerned for Kana’s well being as she was. He stands firm and stares down at her, not flinching even after she grabs him by the collar.
“Of course we thought about that. I’m an Arcadian Guild Member, I don’t go diving into places I know either of us can’t handle. Adventures aren’t walk in the parks, and we’ve been doing that even before you dated. We knew it was dangerous the moment we decided to hunt for the unknown.” He explains this as calmly as he could, emphasizing that he wasn’t a total idiot even if he’s known for his mischief paired with Kana’s superior recklessness. Heck, that was their entire dynamic. “We had each other’s backs the entire time just so you know. That’s what brothers do.”
“We got into a pinch. And we had the option to heal. We didn’t. That was our choice since we trusted we’d both land the finishing blow. Lady luck wasn’t shining on us both so here we are.” He glances towards his unconscious friend, the events that transpired still clear in his head. That earth fairy was one hell of an opponent. “You think I’m liking this? That’s my best friend and he’s unconscious cause of an adventure I instigated. This idiot here’s important to me too, so don’t go telling me I dragged him somewhere without going over safety.”
“I get it. You’re worried. But so am I. And us arguing about it won’t wake him up. If it will, then go ahead. I’ll take it.” If only it was that easy, then he’ll gladly take another earful, or even a beating.
BttP: Musical Brothers {Dirk/Ash}
ashonthemountain:
Ash sets his bass on the side of the bench then takes a seat next to his friend and snorts at the joke. “Actually, you know the Earth rotates and all so it’s not really that it’s up, it’s actually that it’s next to the Earth, right?” he mumbles, looking at the sky. He smiles and shakes his head, saying, “Oops, I nerd-ed out on you there for a moment!”
He opens up his messenger bag and gently sets his neatly packed lunch in a plastic container on his lap. Ash nods at Dirk’s question while he opens his simple yet delicious smelling home cooked meal, care of his mother. “Yup, she looooves feeding me all sorts of things, hehe. Tells me that I need a bit more fat in my body so it would balance out the muscles from football training.” He unwraps his utensils and looks at his friend. “How about you? You cook or someone cooks for you?”
Dirk lets out a hearty laugh as he hears his pal nerd out on him. “Ya nerd.” He nudged Ash on the arm as his laughter dies, “Nah, it’s cool bro. Plus we need someone smart in our little group. Leave the stupid stuff to me and Kana.”
He listens intently as Ash tells him about his mom, slight jealousy there to know someone was caring for him so well, but nothing too serious. The lunch he had smelled delicious! “I cook my own food~ it’s just me and my older bro, and he’s a pretty busy guy. Least I could do is cook a little.” He says this casually, shrugging after he answers. “But I’m a lame cook, ha ha! Check this out, I call it Dirk’s special half-burnt, half-okay burger.” He reveals his packed lunch, the name reflecting the food itself.
Swordplay { Dirk/Frey }
xwingsofvalor:
“If I wanted serious training, i’d go to the Community College, mind you. I feel something more casual is better for my needs~” Frey continued to move backwards, not at all bothered by his warning and simply shrugs it off. She knew how to be careful.
It was a good thing she was facing him, too. Her glare was quick to form at being called a stalker, but faded away just as fast when he took it back. Good choice, buddy. What he said next made complete sense, and honestly, Frey would love to use her weapon. The compliment was totally ignored, Frey’s focus more on her excitement in being able to practice with actual swords. “Truly? We’ll use our actual blades?”
The excitement was clear in her face, and she spins right around to walk a little faster and without the threat of tripping. “It’s settled then! Don’t worry, I can heal you if you get injured– oh, I got a new sword too. I should bring both…” By now she was mostly mumbling herself, a small debate of which sword to use now happening.
“Ouch, so I’m just a filthy casual to you? You wound me, Frey.” He feigns getting stabbed in the heart and proceeds to laugh it off. He does admit to himself he wasn’t much of a serious fighter, nor did he take training with a sword too seriously. Maybe he really was a filthy casual?
Her excitement to the idea of sparring with real swords amuses Dirk. He didn’t expect her to be this enthusiastic about getting hurt, but it seems she’s incredibly confident with herself-- for both the sword and her healing magic. “Hey now, I thought I was the swordsman her yet you have two? Tell me all about what kind they are, yeah?” Frey was a girl with style, so he wouldn’t be too surprised if her taste in weaponry reflected that, too.
They reached the inn at this point, and when they reached the hallways, he pointed towards his hotel room, “My room’s right there, but I’ll meet you outside just in case you plan on changing or whatever.” Miss I-wear-skirts-a-lot might want a change of clothes, and Dirk knows just how long girls take to dress up.
Flower Girl { Dirk/Popuri }
wanderingwhiimsy:
If Dirk didn’t know the flower meant than that was perfectly fine because Popuri couldn’t recall the meaning either. Truthfully, they were being passed out at random, or because she thought they looked good paired with someone, or it just happened to be the one she grabbed. “Well, I’m not sure yet. What’s your name?” She giggled at the question. In truth, it had already been delivered. Oops, looks like she had accidentally taken his job again.
“My name? Well it’s--” Then it hits him. He is the recipient. That almost passed right across his head. And to think he was a flirt, pfft!
“Ha! You got me there, Pinky. It’s Dirk.But you can call me yours~” He tilts his head forward, a playful grin appearing. “Dirk Jansen, at your service.”
Future Mrs. Hamada {Dirk/Georiga}
rxzberries:
[🐎] — “Oh, I can’t wait for that.” She responds sarcastically, waving him off with the letter in her hands. “Alright, I got ya. Message received loud and clear, so you can go now. I wouldn’t wanna keep ya from your other deliveries.” Even though Dirk was the one wasting time, with all of his stupid teasing, and doubt inspiring words…
But for as annoying as he could be, he at least got her to thinking. Gave her a little more self awareness in regards to her relationship with Kana, and she couldn’t really be angry with him for that. Not when it was something she felt was necessary in the long run. Plus… he wasn’t only worried about Kana, but her too. And that, at least, deserved some sort of gratitude.
“Uh– before you go, though?” She says suddenly, stopping him. “I just… I just wanted to say thanks. Ya know… for worrying, and caring and… stuff.”
When Georgia suddenly stops him, Dirk admits to being surprised as he paused abruptly, “Huh? Did you just thank me for teasing you?” This causes a hearty uproar from Dirk, his hat pulled down to his face to keep himself from looking too stupid as he laughs. “Ha ha ha, see, now this is exactly why your hubby keeps calling you a tsundere.”
And stuff. Pfft. Her trademark behavior remain true, and as Dirk’s laughter dies, he clears this throat and gave Georgia a thumbs up, “Not a problem, Georgie~ thanks for being a sport, too. Drop me a call if you need anything. Not that your hubby can’t do anything I can, but just in case.” They were to birds of a feather, after all. Kana just had an advantage over animals. He makes a move to make his exit, waving good bye once more, “See ya around.”
Unlucky? || Open
threeleafseaholly:
The hand waving in front of her face broke Holly out of her thoughts.
“Huh?” She looked up at the person the hand was attached to. “Oh. Umm…”
“Well, sort of.” She began, “ I’m just kinda lost in thought I guess. Y’see, I keep tripping on all sorts of stuff, and I’ve never been really all that clumsy… So I was wondering if it’s just a really bad case of bad luck, or I’m cursed or something.”
Thanks for caring pretty stranger.
Hearing her explanation gives Dirk the expression she might indeed be clumsy, but was in denial. Although he has no proof of this except for the newly acquired information that she trips a lot. “Now, I don’t believe in curses and all that, but what I do know is moping and sighing about it won’t lift that curse away.”
He extends the hand that previous waved itself in front of the blonde, “How about you get up and send a little prayer to our beloved Dragons over here. Maybe they’ll grace you with their divine blessing~”

rxzberries:
[🐎] — Georgia straight up barges through the doors to the Magnolia Clinic and demands to be taken to where Kana and Dirk are, her concern and anger overriding the manners she would have normally exhibited in this sort of setting. Because of her sense of urgency, it doesn’t take long for the doctors to lead her to the clinic room the two men were apparently staying in. When she enters the room, she gasps and rushes right to her unconscious boyfriend, pushing Dirk aside and leaving him completely ignored… for the moment, at least.
“Kana?! Oh my gods, what happened to you?” Honestly, she expected the reckless idiot to end up getting himself in trouble at some point or another, but knowing it would happen didn’t make her feel any better now that it actually has! She bites her lip and holds his hand, the sight of him looking so… beat down and lifeless making her want to cry. “Y-you idiot… this is why you need to take better care of yourself! I told you not to go out and die on me, and now look at you…”
She takes a breath, wiping her free hand across her face. It was alright. He wasn’t actually dead, just hurt, so it wasn’t like it was the worst case scenario. But still… something like this should have never happened, especially since it was avoidable.
With a glare, she turns to the man whose existence she suddenly remembered, the commotion she made upon entering the room no doubt stirring him from his rest. “You. Explain what happened to me. Now.”
Dirk’s sleep was quickly disrupted by a raging and worrying girlfriend. Dirk was a little glad he was ignored, and he managed to get up his chair and slowly move away. Before he could escape, Georgia was already done panicking over Kana and sent him death glares. Time to die.
“C-calm down, Georgie. Your hubby’s not dead--” It wasn’t the most reassuring of words, but heck, Dirk can’t really think straight for himself right now. He keeps a safe distance between him and Georgia, words running around in his head while sorted them out to explain what happen. “Well ya see...”
As briefly as he can, he explains that he planned for them to go on a bro-trip out at Forest Haven. “It started out pretty chill-- he even got a Green Dragon for himself! You should have seen how happy he was. Named him Onion, too.” Not really onion, but probably the japanese for it. He doesn’t really remember that at the moment. “The map we were following lead us to some fairies. They gave us a chance to escape, but uh.”
What was the best way to say they didn’t take the warning seriously and actually attacked them back instead? “A fight broke out, and...” One glance at Kana was all it took for Dirk to remember the last few moments of they fight. “One of the fairies had really strong earth magic. Knocked the living daylights out of Kana real quick before she got beat, too.”
“We got that cool new spear for him at least???” Positivity, right? He points over to the spear that was just kinda leaned on the wall. Not exactly good news to the girlfriend of someone who’s still unconscious, but fuck it, Dirk wasn’t in the best of states in the head right now. He just wanted to rest, too. Preferably not in peace.
Quiet Bar Nights { Dirk/Claire }
crimsoncxmellia:
“Huh, no kidding?” What were the odds that they both got their ass kicked by the same guy? Must be one tough dude. It made Claire wonder just how far he got into the tournament… She’d have to wonder about it later.
“I don’t know much about him either. He was nice enough to leave me a couple of healing potions when I was in the medical tent, but other than his name and that, I don’t know anything about him.” She shrugged her shoulders and sighed. “I kinda wish I did better in the tournament than second round. I did end up having to kick Georgia’s ass in the first round. Would have been justified if I’d done better, ya know?”
“Nope, not kidding. Couldn’t land much hits, he dodged half of em. And he didn’t stop attacking two-- I only got to avoid his attack around... once.” Yeesh, it was really a sad fight now that he thinks about it. Dirk flipped the patty over as he sighed. “I should really take a page from that guy’s book and work on my swordsmanship. Getting rusty from delivering mail all day.”
He liked his line of work despite this complain, but maybe some much needed sparring should be planned soon. Or an actual adventure! “He gave you potions? Talk about bias to ladies. You sure that guy doesn’t have the hots for ya, boss?” He teased a little, leaving the pan for a short while just to get a plate. “Youch, cat fight. I guess Team Blue Horseshoe’s pretty unlucky for the tournament. Kana got knocked out on the second round too. I should be saying a thanks to the Goddess for saving me from getting too hurt.”
Future Mrs. Hamada {Dirk/Georiga}
rxzberries:
[🐎] — His sudden pinching at her cheeks breaks her away from her sullen train of thought, and she makes a frustrated noise as she tries to swat his hands away. “Agh, stop it, I hate that–!” Thankfully, he lets go, leaving Georgia to glare at him as she rubbed at her cheek. His next words earn little more than a scoff out of her, “Tch. As if I’d actually cry…”
And there he went with all the marriage talk again. Best man. Bride. It was still pretty embarassing to think about, but she couldn’t ignore that small amount of giddiness that bubbled up inside of her when she really thought about it.
…Damn it. Now she was blushing again.
“We– we are, okay? So don’t worry about it. We’re doing alright.” So she says, but the slight stumble in her words is a clear indicator of the feelings of uncertainty that had briefly come over her at the thought that they couldn’t be.
The same page. Were they? Neither of them had even said ‘I love you’… Georgia had pretty strong feelings for him by this point, way past the point of like, but she had no idea where Kana stood. And she didn’t want to admit to anything until she was 100% sure he felt the same.
“Yeah, just fine.” Georgia reiterates, pushing those thoughts away. She was afraid that if she started thinking it wouldn’t work out, then that just may end up happening. And Goddess knows that if it did, it would break her heart into a million pieces… and maybe, just maybe, Kana’s too. “Your concern is appreciated, really, but have a little more faith in your bestest bud, why don’tcha? He’s a lot more capable than you might think.”
Dirk wasn’t so sure in Georgia’s confidence in her answer, but doesn’t say anymore, simply crossing his arms and raising a brow while looking at her. For a moment, he detected doubt, but doubt of what? He hasn’t heard anything from Kana about there being trouble in paradise, or maybe it was just the idea of actually something fucking up. Ha-- that might have been his fault. “I’m not lacking in faith in my buddy and you, just worried is all.”
“But. If you say you’re both doing fine, then I can’t really butt in now and say otherwise, now can I?” He points over to the letter he gave her and adjusted his hat, “I’m gonna pester you some other time, yeah? Just make sure to get that in his hands~ his old man’s a worry wart when he takes forever to write back.”
Guild Bros { Dirk/Raguna }
therunefarmer:
[✿] — “Uh– y-yeah, I guess…” Raguna hadn’t really though much of all the other stuff, but he does get stuck on the whole ‘girl by your side’ bit, and although he personally knew there was nothing extra going on between him and Frey, he can’t help but get a bit flustered over the implication in Dirk’s teasing words, as evidenced by his brief stumble, and the tinge of red in his cheeks. “It’s definitely an experience you should have, at least once. Maybe I can invite you along next time? We could always use the extra muscle.”
He scratches at his chin, mentally willing the flustered feelings away as he nods along with Dirk’s words. The ranting, drinking and hooking up wasn’t anything he could relate to, but– “Yeah, the food is great, and definitely a lifesaver for when I’m too exhausted from the work day to cook my own.”
“Horse… dork…?” They were talking about the same guy, right? If they were, then Raguna wonders where that nickname originated from. If anything, he seemed more like a Georgia-dork… but, he digresses. Even more than that, he can’t help but notice how animated Dirk becomes when talking about Kana, and it brings a smile to the farmer’s face. From the way he spoke, it was obvious those two were pretty good friends… close relationships like that were nice to see. “Funny you say that, because his girlfriend thought the exact same, and he honestly wasn’t a bother at all? He was actually pretty cool throughout the whole thing.”
Chuckling, he waves the other man off. “Fine, fine. But how much I give will depend on how good the service is, so you better not disappoint.”
Well look at that, he can blush. Dirk reminds himself to tease Raguna a little more. They weren’t particularly close. Just two workmates. But Dirk always liked poking fun at the people he’s with, especially if they have interesting reactions. “Oh? Wouldn’t wanna third-wheel, but I guess it sounds fun~ jut hit me up any time you plan on going.”
Dirk wasn’t the best cook out there, so he hopes when it’s his turn to take charge at the kitchen he’ll be able to give people the same impression, or an even better one! Years of part-timing at cafes might actually come in handy.
“Georgia did, huh? Probably cause that guy doesn’t think much before acting. He seems different not though. More mature and stuff. Young love, yeesh.” Dirk shrugs at that, not really repulsed by the relationship the two had, but by love and all that cheesy stuff in general. The single life suited him much better. “You’ll boost his ego if he hears you saying he’s cool-- but I guess that’s true, ha ha!”
And of course, to the tip, Dirk simple grins, fingers bent as if it was a gun, and he pretends to shoot Raguna, “I’ll give ya killer service. Guaranteed. So ready your wallet, buddy.”
Quiet Bar Nights { Dirk/Claire }
crimsoncxmellia:
“Just one, thanks.” Claire’s stomach growled again at the thought of eating a burger. Now that she thought about it, she hadn’t eaten since breakfast earlier that morning and she was long overdue for some grub. Good thing Dirk offered to cook or else she’d be stuck at home eating a bowl of expired cereal.
Claire huffed, blowing her bangs from her forehead just for them to settle back where they were. She rested her elbows on the counter and looked at her scarred arms. “Well, I made it past the first round but got my ass handed to me in the second round by Doug, the guy who owns the grocery store down the ways? He cut me up pretty bad and I ended up just blacking out. Probably from a brutal combo of blood loss and pain.” She shrugged her shoulders. “But hey, can’t say I haven’t been through worse.” She chuckled at that, and rested her chin in one hand. “How’d your round go? Obviously not good, but who were you up against?”
“One chili burger coming right up.” Two, if he counted his own. Two patties were now in the pan getting cooked to it’s full, juicy potential. As juicy as store-brought burger patties can get, at least. Dirk keeps an eye out on what he was cooking while listening to Claire. It turns out she got beaten by the same person, too. Not something fun to bond over, but it was something. “Oh? I got my ass handed to me by the same guy.”
“ Our fight didn’t end with anyone blacking up, but I guess I just got a lighter fight, is all. I know he’s part of the guild too, but I don’t really know much about the guy.” He shrugs, remembering his quick defeat. They were both sword users, but he was outplayed this time around. Maybe he’ll do better next tournament. Hopefully he’ll do better.
Serenading the trees { open }
arcadianpoliceman:
Mark leaned up against the tree as the mystery man hummed through small sections of the song, switching back to the lyrics as he hit the chorus. Mark smiled and decided to quietly sing along. He just had to remember how the lyrics went.
♫ Somethin’ ‘bout the way your hair falls in your face I love the shape you take when crawling towards the pillowcase ♫
His voice was a bit deeper than Dirk’s, quite noticeably deeper actually, but they harmonized surprisingly well. Though Mark really didn’t really remember much about this part of the song.
♫ You tell me where to go and though I might leave to find it I’ll never let your head hit the bed without my hand behind it ♫
Now this was Dirk’s kind of stranger. Not only did he stay around to listen to him, he sang along too! He felt a little nostalgic now of his high school days when he jammed a lot with peers, but this was pretty good too.
It didn’t take long to actually go through the entirety of the song, their voices somehow mixing well, with Dirk playing his guitar more enthusiastically due to the audience. He strums his guitar one last time as the song ends, and the last bit of the song is simply sang without accompaniment:
♫ Your body is a wonderland ♫
Satisfied with their little jamming session, Dirks traps his guitar back and look below, legs swung back and forth as he waved from up above, “That was pretty awesome, man. I don’t think I’ve metcha before? Sup!”
