BttP: Cat Bros { Dirk/Kamil }
taciturnflowerprince:
Kamil couldnât help the small snort that escaped him when Dirk got scratched, darting off away from the pair afterwards. Disappointed, Kamil turned his attention to his bandmate, sighing as he shook his head.
âHow many times do I have to say this, Dirk,â Maybe he should just start making tips up, bet Dirk would buy a book of them. âThereâs no secret⊠though, cats arenât a huge fan of numbskulls, so you and Kana might both be outta luck.â
âSeriously, just try giving them treats or something first. I even have some cash on me, so we can grab some sardines or something and try again you big baby.â
   Dirk wasnât satisfied with Kamilâs answer and his head still insisted Kamil had some secret up his sleeve that he wasnât sharing. âThatâs only half true. Kanaâs an idiot but animals like him.â He says this matter-of-factly, well aware of the horse afficionadoâs luck with animals and monsters. When Kamil speaks once more, Dirk suddenly had an epiphany.
   â...so basically bribery?â Dirk hasnât tried that approach before. Most of his lunch were food he made, and food he made wasnât all that good in the first place. âIf youâre spending, then iâm not saying no! Show me your secrets, Cat Prince.â
Quiet Bar Nights { Dirk/Claire }
crimsoncxmellia:
Claire sucked in air through her teeth and exhaled with an âOooohhh,â showing sympathy for her coworker. âThat sucks, man. I just went back and forth with the whole me-throwing-fire and him slicing-and-dicing.â Claire sighed and nodded. âMaybe I need to work on my fighting. I used more magic than hands-on stuff.â
âHey, watch it buddy.â Claire pointed an accusatory finger at Dirk, her cheeks dusting pink at the joke. She couldnât say sheâd mind per se, but she highly doubted that were the case. They did hurt one another pretty badly in that arena⊠Claire shook her head and sighed once more. âYeah, guess we should all be thanking the Goddess for keeping our unlucky asses alive, huh?â
   âYou and me both, boss. Nothing like good ol physical training.â Having an enchanted sword was fun and all, but it canât help if the swordsmanship itself is lacking.Â
   Dirk finishes cooking the patty and proceeded to finishing preparing the meal. When he comes back, he has two plates of chili burger. âAww,youâre blushing. Maybe you have the hots for him.âÂ
   Dirk places both plates down and sits right down, a teasing grin on his face, âJust kidding boss~ please donât fire me. Iâm thanking the Goddess right now for such a great boss~â
Bearer of Bad News {dirk/georgia}
rxzberries:
[đ] â Georgia is too perturbed to even react to his usual brand of teasing, her attention solely on Dirk as he attempts to explain himself, face set into an expectant look of annoyance, foot tapping impatiently against the floor, with the hand not holding Kanaâs firmly placed on one hip. Her body language was very openly aggressive, and it held a silent promise that there would most definitely be hell to pay if Dirkâs explanation didnât satisfy her.
And even if the mention of Kana taming a dragon â what the heck was up with that name, though âwarms her heart a bit, itâs not enough to keep her frustrations at bay, especially when he tries to justify her boyfriend getting knocked out with the fact that they got some⊠spear? The more she stares at it, the more annoyed she feels. Really⊠a spear? A dumb spear? Was that what all of this was for?!
âDirk.â She says sternly, voice thick with edge. âA stupid SPEAR does not justify Kana almost dying, so donât even give me that!â Personal space is entirely disregarded as she leans forward and starts ranting at him. In one fluid motion she removes her hand from her hip and reaches it out to grab at his collar. Not too roughly though, because, heyâ this idiot had injuries, too. âThis could have been prevented! Did you knuckleheads even try to come prepared?! Armor, protective gear? What about healing, did you even think of that? Huh?!â
   Now, apologizing and admitting blame Dirk can take. This is his fault. But to point a finger at him and insist he was completely careless with no regard to either of their safety? Dirk didnât like that one bit. He was just as concerned for Kanaâs well being as she was. He stands firm and stares down at her, not flinching even after she grabs him by the collar.Â
   âOf course we thought about that. Iâm an Arcadian Guild Member, I donât go diving into places I know either of us canât handle. Adventures arenât walk in the parks, and weâve been doing that even before you dated. We knew it was dangerous the moment we decided to hunt for the unknown.â He explains this as calmly as he could, emphasizing that he wasnât a total idiot even if heâs known for his mischief paired with Kanaâs superior recklessness. Heck, that was their entire dynamic. âWe had each otherâs backs the entire time just so you know. Thatâs what brothers do.â
   âWe got into a pinch. And we had the option to heal. We didnât. That was our choice since we trusted weâd both land the finishing blow. Lady luck wasnât shining on us both so here we are.â He glances towards his unconscious friend, the events that transpired still clear in his head. That earth fairy was one hell of an opponent. âYou think Iâm liking this? Thatâs my best friend and heâs unconscious cause of an adventure I instigated. This idiot hereâs important to me too, so donât go telling me I dragged him somewhere without going over safety.â
   âI get it. Youâre worried. But so am I. And us arguing about it wonât wake him up. If it will, then go ahead. Iâll take it.â If only it was that easy, then heâll gladly take another earful, or even a beating.
BttP: Musical Brothers {Dirk/Ash}
ashonthemountain:
Ash sets his bass on the side of the bench then takes a seat next to his friend and snorts at the joke. âActually, you know the Earth rotates and all so itâs not really that itâs up, itâs actually that itâs next to the Earth, right?â he mumbles, looking at the sky. He smiles and shakes his head, saying, âOops, I nerd-ed out on you there for a moment!â
He opens up his messenger bag and gently sets his neatly packed lunch in a plastic container on his lap. Ash nods at Dirkâs question while he opens his simple yet delicious smelling home cooked meal, care of his mother. âYup, she looooves feeding me all sorts of things, hehe. Tells me that I need a bit more fat in my body so it would balance out the muscles from football training.â He unwraps his utensils and looks at his friend. âHow about you? You cook or someone cooks for you?â
   Dirk lets out a hearty laugh as he hears his pal nerd out on him. âYa nerd.â He nudged Ash on the arm as his laughter dies, âNah, itâs cool bro. Plus we need someone smart in our little group. Leave the stupid stuff to me and Kana.â
   He listens intently as Ash tells him about his mom, slight jealousy there to know someone was caring for him so well, but nothing too serious. The lunch he had smelled delicious! âI cook my own food~ itâs just me and my older bro, and heâs a pretty busy guy. Least I could do is cook a little.â He says this casually, shrugging after he answers. âBut Iâm a lame cook, ha ha! Check this out, I call it Dirkâs special half-burnt, half-okay burger.â He reveals his packed lunch, the name reflecting the food itself.Â
Swordplay { Dirk/Frey }
xwingsofvalor:
âIf I wanted serious training, iâd go to the Community College, mind you. I feel something more casual is better for my needs~â Frey continued to move backwards, not at all bothered by his warning and simply shrugs it off. She knew how to be careful.Â
It was a good thing she was facing him, too. Her glare was quick to form at being called a stalker, but faded away just as fast when he took it back. Good choice, buddy. What he said next made complete sense, and honestly, Frey would love to use her weapon. The compliment was totally ignored, Freyâs focus more on her excitement in being able to practice with actual swords. âTruly? Weâll use our actual blades?â
The excitement was clear in her face, and she spins right around to walk a little faster and without the threat of tripping. âItâs settled then! Donât worry, I can heal you if you get injuredâ oh, I got a new sword too. I should bring bothâŠâ By now she was mostly mumbling herself, a small debate of which sword to use now happening.
   âOuch, so Iâm just a filthy casual to you? You wound me, Frey.â He feigns getting stabbed in the heart and proceeds to laugh it off. He does admit to himself he wasnât much of a serious fighter, nor did he take training with a sword too seriously. Maybe he really was a filthy casual?
   Her excitement to the idea of sparring with real swords amuses Dirk. He didnât expect her to be this enthusiastic about getting hurt, but it seems sheâs incredibly confident with herself-- for both the sword and her healing magic. âHey now, I thought I was the swordsman her yet you have two? Tell me all about what kind they are, yeah?â Frey was a girl with style, so he wouldnât be too surprised if her taste in weaponry reflected that, too.
   They reached the inn at this point, and when they reached the hallways, he pointed towards his hotel room, âMy roomâs right there, but Iâll meet you outside just in case you plan on changing or whatever.â Miss I-wear-skirts-a-lot might want a change of clothes, and Dirk knows just how long girls take to dress up.
Flower Girl { Dirk/Popuri }
wanderingwhiimsy:
If Dirk didnât know the flower meant than that was perfectly fine because Popuri couldnât recall the meaning either. Truthfully, they were being passed out at random, or because she thought they looked good paired with someone, or it just happened to be the one she grabbed. âWell, Iâm not sure yet. Whatâs your name?â She giggled at the question. In truth, it had already been delivered. Oops, looks like she had accidentally taken his job again.
   âMy name? Well itâs--â Then it hits him. He is the recipient. That almost passed right across his head. And to think he was a flirt, pfft!
   âHa! You got me there, Pinky. Itâs Dirk.But you can call me yours~â He tilts his head forward, a playful grin appearing. âDirk Jansen, at your service.â
Future Mrs. Hamada {Dirk/Georiga}
rxzberries:
[đ] â âOh, I canât wait for that.â She responds sarcastically, waving him off with the letter in her hands. âAlright, I got ya. Message received loud and clear, so you can go now. I wouldnât wanna keep ya from your other deliveries.â Even though Dirk was the one wasting time, with all of his stupid teasing, and doubt inspiring wordsâŠ
But for as annoying as he could be, he at least got her to thinking. Gave her a little more self awareness in regards to her relationship with Kana, and she couldnât really be angry with him for that. Not when it was something she felt was necessary in the long run. Plus⊠he wasnât only worried about Kana, but her too. And that, at least, deserved some sort of gratitude.
âUhâ before you go, though?â She says suddenly, stopping him. âI just⊠I just wanted to say thanks. Ya know⊠for worrying, and caring and⊠stuff.â
   When Georgia suddenly stops him, Dirk admits to being surprised as he paused abruptly, âHuh? Did you just thank me for teasing you?â This causes a hearty uproar from Dirk, his hat pulled down to his face to keep himself from looking too stupid as he laughs. âHa ha ha, see, now this is exactly why your hubby keeps calling you a tsundere.â
   And stuff. Pfft. Her trademark behavior remain true, and as Dirkâs laughter dies, he clears this throat and gave Georgia a thumbs up, âNot a problem, Georgie~ thanks for being a sport, too. Drop me a call if you need anything. Not that your hubby canât do anything I can, but just in case.â They were to birds of a feather, after all. Kana just had an advantage over animals. He makes a move to make his exit, waving good bye once more, âSee ya around.â
Unlucky? || Open
threeleafseaholly:
The hand waving in front of her face broke Holly out of her thoughts.
âHuh?â She looked up at the person the hand was attached to. âOh. UmmâŠâ
âWell, sort of.â She began, â Iâm just kinda lost in thought I guess. Yâsee, I keep tripping on all sorts of stuff, and Iâve never been really all that clumsy⊠So I was wondering if itâs just a really bad case of bad luck, or Iâm cursed or something.â
Thanks for caring pretty stranger.
   Hearing her explanation gives Dirk the expression she might indeed be clumsy, but was in denial. Although he has no proof of this except for the newly acquired information that she trips a lot. âNow, I donât believe in curses and all that, but what I do know is moping and sighing about it wonât lift that curse away.â
   He extends the hand that previous waved itself in front of the blonde, âHow about you get up and send a little prayer to our beloved Dragons over here. Maybe theyâll grace you with their divine blessing~â

[đ] â Georgia straight up barges through the doors to the Magnolia Clinic and demands to be taken to where Kana and Dirk are, her concern and anger overriding the manners she would have normally exhibited in this sort of setting. Because of her sense of urgency, it doesnât take long for the doctors to lead her to the clinic room the two men were apparently staying in. When she enters the room, she gasps and rushes right to her unconscious boyfriend, pushing Dirk aside and leaving him completely ignored⊠for the moment, at least.
âKana?! Oh my gods, what happened to you?â Honestly, she expected the reckless idiot to end up getting himself in trouble at some point or another, but knowing it would happen didnât make her feel any better now that it actually has! She bites her lip and holds his hand, the sight of him looking so⊠beat down and lifeless making her want to cry. âY-you idiot⊠this is why you need to take better care of yourself! I told you not to go out and die on me, and now look at youâŠâ
She takes a breath, wiping her free hand across her face. It was alright. He wasnât actually dead, just hurt, so it wasnât like it was the worst case scenario. But still⊠something like this should have never happened, especially since it was avoidable.Â
With a glare, she turns to the man whose existence she suddenly remembered, the commotion she made upon entering the room no doubt stirring him from his rest. âYou. Explain what happened to me. Now.â
   Dirkâs sleep was quickly disrupted by a raging and worrying girlfriend. Dirk was a little glad he was ignored, and he managed to get up his chair and slowly move away. Before he could escape, Georgia was already done panicking over Kana and sent him death glares. Time to die.
   âC-calm down, Georgie. Your hubbyâs not dead--â It wasnât the most reassuring of words, but heck, Dirk canât really think straight for himself right now. He keeps a safe distance between him and Georgia, words running around in his head while sorted them out to explain what happen. âWell ya see...â
   As briefly as he can, he explains that he planned for them to go on a bro-trip out at Forest Haven. âIt started out pretty chill-- he even got a Green Dragon for himself! You should have seen how happy he was. Named him Onion, too.â Not really onion, but probably the japanese for it. He doesnât really remember that at the moment. âThe map we were following lead us to some fairies. They gave us a chance to escape, but uh.âÂ
   What was the best way to say they didnât take the warning seriously and actually attacked them back instead? âA fight broke out, and...â One glance at Kana was all it took for Dirk to remember the last few moments of they fight. âOne of the fairies had really strong earth magic. Knocked the living daylights out of Kana real quick before she got beat, too.â
âWe got that cool new spear for him at least???â Positivity, right? He points over to the spear that was just kinda leaned on the wall. Not exactly good news to the girlfriend of someone whoâs still unconscious, but fuck it, Dirk wasnât in the best of states in the head right now. He just wanted to rest, too. Preferably not in peace.
Quiet Bar Nights { Dirk/Claire }
crimsoncxmellia:
âHuh, no kidding?â What were the odds that they both got their ass kicked by the same guy? Must be one tough dude. It made Claire wonder just how far he got into the tournament⊠Sheâd have to wonder about it later.Â
âI donât know much about him either. He was nice enough to leave me a couple of healing potions when I was in the medical tent, but other than his name and that, I donât know anything about him.â She shrugged her shoulders and sighed. âI kinda wish I did better in the tournament than second round. I did end up having to kick Georgiaâs ass in the first round. Would have been justified if Iâd done better, ya know?â
   âNope, not kidding. Couldnât land much hits, he dodged half of em. And he didnât stop attacking two-- I only got to avoid his attack around... once.â Yeesh, it was really a sad fight now that he thinks about it. Dirk flipped the patty over as he sighed. âI should really take a page from that guyâs book and work on my swordsmanship. Getting rusty from delivering mail all day.â
   He liked his line of work despite this complain, but maybe some much needed sparring should be planned soon. Or an actual adventure! âHe gave you potions? Talk about bias to ladies. You sure that guy doesnât have the hots for ya, boss?â He teased a little, leaving the pan for a short while just to get a plate. âYouch, cat fight. I guess Team Blue Horseshoeâs pretty unlucky for the tournament. Kana got knocked out on the second round too. I should be saying a thanks to the Goddess for saving me from getting too hurt.â
Future Mrs. Hamada {Dirk/Georiga}
rxzberries:
[đ] â His sudden pinching at her cheeks breaks her away from her sullen train of thought, and she makes a frustrated noise as she tries to swat his hands away. âAgh, stop it, I hate thatâ!â Thankfully, he lets go, leaving Georgia to glare at him as she rubbed at her cheek. His next words earn little more than a scoff out of her, âTch. As if Iâd actually cryâŠâ
And there he went with all the marriage talk again. Best man. Bride. It was still pretty embarassing to think about, but she couldnât ignore that small amount of giddiness that bubbled up inside of her when she really thought about it.Â
âŠDamn it. Now she was blushing again.
âWeâ we are, okay? So donât worry about it. Weâre doing alright.â So she says, but the slight stumble in her words is a clear indicator of the feelings of uncertainty that had briefly come over her at the thought that they couldnât be.Â
The same page. Were they? Neither of them had even said âI love youâ⊠Georgia had pretty strong feelings for him by this point, way past the point of like, but she had no idea where Kana stood. And she didnât want to admit to anything until she was 100% sure he felt the same.
âYeah, just fine.â Georgia reiterates, pushing those thoughts away. She was afraid that if she started thinking it wouldnât work out, then that just may end up happening. And Goddess knows that if it did, it would break her heart into a million pieces⊠and maybe, just maybe, Kanaâs too. âYour concern is appreciated, really, but have a little more faith in your bestest bud, why donâtcha? Heâs a lot more capable than you might think.â
   Dirk wasnât so sure in Georgiaâs confidence in her answer, but doesnât say anymore, simply crossing his arms and raising a brow while looking at her. For a moment, he detected doubt, but doubt of what? He hasnât heard anything from Kana about there being trouble in paradise, or maybe it was just the idea of actually something fucking up. Ha-- that might have been his fault. âIâm not lacking in faith in my buddy and you, just worried is all.âÂ
   âBut. If you say youâre both doing fine, then I canât really butt in now and say otherwise, now can I?â He points over to the letter he gave her and adjusted his hat, âIâm gonna pester you some other time, yeah? Just make sure to get that in his hands~ his old manâs a worry wart when he takes forever to write back.â
Guild Bros { Dirk/Raguna }
therunefarmer:
[âż] â âUhâ y-yeah, I guessâŠâ Raguna hadnât really though much of all the other stuff, but he does get stuck on the whole âgirl by your sideâ bit, and although he personally knew there was nothing extra going on between him and Frey, he canât help but get a bit flustered over the implication in Dirkâs teasing words, as evidenced by his brief stumble, and the tinge of red in his cheeks. âItâs definitely an experience you should have, at least once. Maybe I can invite you along next time? We could always use the extra muscle.â
He scratches at his chin, mentally willing the flustered feelings away as he nods along with Dirkâs words. The ranting, drinking and hooking up wasnât anything he could relate to, butâ âYeah, the food is great, and definitely a lifesaver for when Iâm too exhausted from the work day to cook my own.â
âHorse⊠dorkâŠ?â They were talking about the same guy, right? If they were, then Raguna wonders where that nickname originated from. If anything, he seemed more like a Georgia-dork⊠but, he digresses. Even more than that, he canât help but notice how animated Dirk becomes when talking about Kana, and it brings a smile to the farmerâs face. From the way he spoke, it was obvious those two were pretty good friends⊠close relationships like that were nice to see. âFunny you say that, because his girlfriend thought the exact same, and he honestly wasnât a bother at all? He was actually pretty cool throughout the whole thing.âÂ
Chuckling, he waves the other man off. âFine, fine. But how much I give will depend on how good the service is, so you better not disappoint.â
   Well look at that, he can blush. Dirk reminds himself to tease Raguna a little more. They werenât particularly close. Just two workmates. But Dirk always liked poking fun at the people heâs with, especially if they have interesting reactions. âOh? Wouldnât wanna third-wheel, but I guess it sounds fun~ jut hit me up any time you plan on going.â
   Dirk wasnât the best cook out there, so he hopes when itâs his turn to take charge at the kitchen heâll be able to give people the same impression, or an even better one! Years of part-timing at cafes might actually come in handy.Â
   âGeorgia did, huh? Probably cause that guy doesnât think much before acting. He seems different not though. More mature and stuff. Young love, yeesh.â Dirk shrugs at that, not really repulsed by the relationship the two had, but by love and all that cheesy stuff in general. The single life suited him much better. âYouâll boost his ego if he hears you saying heâs cool-- but I guess thatâs true, ha ha!âÂ
   And of course, to the tip, Dirk simple grins, fingers bent as if it was a gun, and he pretends to shoot Raguna, âIâll give ya killer service. Guaranteed. So ready your wallet, buddy.â
Quiet Bar Nights { Dirk/Claire }
crimsoncxmellia:
âJust one, thanks.â Claireâs stomach growled again at the thought of eating a burger. Now that she thought about it, she hadnât eaten since breakfast earlier that morning and she was long overdue for some grub. Good thing Dirk offered to cook or else sheâd be stuck at home eating a bowl of expired cereal.Â
Claire huffed, blowing her bangs from her forehead just for them to settle back where they were. She rested her elbows on the counter and looked at her scarred arms. âWell, I made it past the first round but got my ass handed to me in the second round by Doug, the guy who owns the grocery store down the ways? He cut me up pretty bad and I ended up just blacking out. Probably from a brutal combo of blood loss and pain.â She shrugged her shoulders. âBut hey, canât say I havenât been through worse.â She chuckled at that, and rested her chin in one hand. âHowâd your round go? Obviously not good, but who were you up against?â
   âOne chili burger coming right up.â Two, if he counted his own. Two patties were now in the pan getting cooked to itâs full, juicy potential. As juicy as store-brought burger patties can get, at least. Dirk keeps an eye out on what he was cooking while listening to Claire. It turns out she got beaten by the same person, too. Not something fun to bond over, but it was something. âOh? I got my ass handed to me by the same guy.â
   â Our fight didnât end with anyone blacking up, but I guess I just got a lighter fight, is all. I know heâs part of the guild too, but I donât really know much about the guy.â He shrugs, remembering his quick defeat. They were both sword users, but he was outplayed this time around. Maybe heâll do better next tournament. Hopefully heâll do better.
Serenading the trees { open }
arcadianpoliceman:
Mark leaned up against the tree as the mystery man hummed through small sections of the song, switching back to the lyrics as he hit the chorus. Mark smiled and decided to quietly sing along. He just had to remember how the lyrics went.Â
â«Â Somethinâ âbout the way your hair falls in your face I love the shape you take when crawling towards the pillowcase â«Â
His voice was a bit deeper than Dirkâs, quite noticeably deeper actually, but they harmonized surprisingly well. Though Mark really didnât really remember much about this part of the song.Â
â« You tell me where to go and though I might leave to find it Iâll never let your head hit the bed without my hand behind it â«Â  Â
   Now this was Dirkâs kind of stranger. Not only did he stay around to listen to him, he sang along too! He felt a little nostalgic now of his high school days when he jammed a lot with peers, but this was pretty good too.Â
   It didnât take long to actually go through the entirety of the song, their voices somehow mixing well, with Dirk playing his guitar more enthusiastically due to the audience. He strums his guitar one last time as the song ends, and the last bit of the song is simply sang without accompaniment:
    ⫠Your body is a wonderland â«
   Satisfied with their little jamming session, Dirks traps his guitar back and look below, legs swung back and forth as he waved from up above, âThat was pretty awesome, man. I donât think Iâve metcha before? Sup!â
