what other show has a guy play himself, his son, his dad, fall in love with his own mother without knowing but then after knowing still persue her, have sex with his female self and give birth to twins because od that, also basically created a new race and became their god

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I cannot for the life of me stand Ace. I find him to be so irritating I just wanna punch him and keep punching him. I’m fully on Rimmer's side when it comes to Ace because why is everyone else so charmed by him? He's snobbish. He’s a git (in a different way to Rimmer). I am aware that his character is a parody of something (top gun I believe but I could be wrong) but it’s not even funny. He's just straight up annoying. Am I alone in thinking this, or is it just me?

Arnold Rimmer is a great character to watch unfurl because on the surface he's just a right wing military nutter - but then you look deeper and realise that he doesn't sincerely subscribe to a lot of those beliefs and it's all childhood trauma.

Then u peek behind the mask a third time and realize all the other weird traits left is just because he's clearly autistic

Then u look one last time and realize despite all that - he is still an asshole. He's still very much a bastard lol
