hey, @thespianinthebackcorner (He/him girl) speaking.

Welcome to the back corner of the Red Dwarf. And also Sherlock Holmes' office. And Tintin's office too. And probably more places. Welcome to the Corner in the Back I guess??

Very little of this account's posts will be me- mostly, it'll be my good friend Zhelday (they/them nonbinary) who's talking. They don't have a Tumblr for many reasons, so I copy and paste their rantings so they don't have to scream into the void. (And yes, this is something we both agreed to.) Mostly, it'll be rimster ideas, ramblings about Rimmer, fanfiction that they're written, and the very rare Thespian Has Thoughts About Fandoms He's Not In.

If a post has blue or pink coloured text, that means we had a text conversation and I thought posting more than one thing was a good idea. Blue symbolises Zhel's words, pink is Thespian's.

Both of us are as of now minors, so don't be fuckin' weird, but we're not afraid of dark stuff so you're also free to talk about putting characters through the endless torture machine. Mostly Rimmer. We do it too.

And, uh, PSA, if you see anything for fandoms not on the list reblogged (especially Splatoon or Sonic) that was an accident, sideblogs can be tricky. I'll get rid of it once I notice.

Announcement regarding the future of the blog

hey everyone! Thespian here.

As I'm sure any followers know (but hey it's ok if you don't!) this blog is a sideblog created by me so my friend Zhelday could post while not being allowed to access Tumblr. However, they finally have a blog of their own! @zhelday is where anything that would've once gone on the sideblog is gonna go from here on out, and so while this blog isn't being deactivated for archival reasons, it will become defunct. If you still want their thoughts, go ahead and follow their blog! You won't get anything from me from this point forward, as I'll be abandoning this blog and blocking Zhelday as I like to keep my irl and online lives separate even if I do know people with Tumblr irl. You might see me mentioned in their posts, but in terms of my actual input, that's gone. This was always meant to be a temporary workaround blog, so sorry if this hurts, but please, go follow Zhel, become proper moots- remember, they were receiving info through me, so treat it as a fresh start and just mention that you've seen their posts via the sideblog before, they'll be happy to meet you- and I'm sure it'll be back to normal in no time. Please also help teach them Tumblr etiquette, if you don't mind me asking, lol.

Working on a science project where i gotta analyse a sci-fi ship. I’ve chosen Red Dwarf and have the feeling that it was built in a similar way to the international space station but am not entirely sure if that’s something I read somewhere or just made up. If anyone knows (if I haven’t just made that up) where that info can be found please let me know.

Cyril Karn is the Star Wars equivalent of Arnold Rimmer. He’s a pathetic little excuse for a human who is seen as the runt of the family. In season 1, he’s desperate to get Cassian arrested, fixated on it so much he looses his job. His mother thinks he’s a disappointment when she finds out about this. The way Cyril dresses with everything freakishly tidy, behaves so stiff and so stuck up, it’s all something Rimmer would do. He’s Star Wars’ answer to Arnold Rimmer.

Ok I know it’s been a few days since Norwood Builder part 3 dropped so here are my thoughts: - Sherlock not giving John a bulletproof vest was weird. If he knew the gun was functional, why not tell John to wear a bulletproof vest too? That whole thing just felt out of character. - ⁠wtf was with that scene about fukin deliveroo. Is it just me or did that feel out of place, like the writer couldn’t think of anything else to put in so he put that in. - ⁠the phone call from the private number theory: hear me out: Mycroft. Now, Mycroft is the British government, and it makes sense that he would use a private number. That whole thing outside Madame Tussaud’s was being broadcast live by the world’s press, seen by thousands so it isnt a far fetched idea that maybe Mycroft called Lestrade to ask her to keep his younger brother out of trouble/danger. - ⁠Also given how intense the last few stories have been, they’re surely building up to something, right? Mycroft? Moriarty? Both?

I have some thoughts about the Norwood Builder ep of Sherlock and Co.

Like obvs if you know the canon story, you know Jonas Oldacre faked his death. I’m thinking that Hector McFarlane’s wife was in on it. He starts his story about what happened with this long rant about how much his wife pissed him off by insisting on buying an air fryer and apparently he yells at her and expects to get his own way in everything. McFarlane also mentions coming home very late frequently, so plenty of time for Shereen and Oldacre to do their plotting. Plus in the canon story, Oldacre has a female accomplice whom he lives with, either his landlady or his lodger or housekeeper. I think the wife and the builder conspired to frame McFarlane for murder to get him out of their hair.
