shoutout to my fellow chronically ill people who missed out on typical teen experiences while growing up because of chronic illnesses
when my chronic illnesses flare up for weeks at a time
hi everyone! i know this blog has been sort of inactive and iām sorry about that! i just wanted to let you all know that in addition to the list of canon disabled characters that we have, thereās now a list of all the series with said disabled characters!
Ā that way if youāre looking to get into something with disabled characters, there is an easily accessible list. you can find it here!
please read!
iāll try to keep this short! iām a physically disabled trans man trying to save for my name and gender marker change. because of my disabilities i only work part time and as a result i dont make much. the total cost of the name and gender marker change is $482 (breakdown of the costs with links verifying said costs will be at the end). iām not asking for that much, as i plan to save up a fair amount on my own.Ā
but saving that much money will take a lot of time and iām trying to get my name and gender marker changed asap because i want to change it before my voice drops and things start to change due to HRT. iām not asking for a lot, i just want a little bit of help so that the process of saving goes by a little bit faster. i know this isnāt too urgent but i still would really appreciate any help or support!!
hereās the breakdown of the cost:
filing fee: $435
new drivers license: $27
new car title: $20
you can donate hereĀ ! thank you for reading and thank you to anyone who helps me out!!!
help buy grace a wheelchair attachment to get her to university
hi everyone!! my name is grainne but i go by grace! iām from scotland in the uk and i have cerebral palsy, this year iāve been offered a place at university!! but my university is built on a lot of hills and i would struggle to get to classes on my own. i really really value my independence so i am looking to buy an electric wheelchair attachment to help me get around - a SMARTDriveMX2!! itās a wheel that attaches to the back of your wheelchair to give you more power going up hills.
i canāt stress how much this would improve my life, not only for university, but just in general as getting around on my own can be really difficult. if i was to get this it would be like a weight off my shoulders, i could go to university, i could go travelling, go shopping ect just normal things without having to worry about being tired or sore!! the freedom that abled bodied people get doesnāt seem so far away!
the only problem is that theĀ SMARTDriveMX2 is Ā£5750 and i start university in september!! i really hate to ask anyone for money but thereās no way i can afford this on my own - so if you can please please donate!!
myĀ justgiving (my mum made this page so itās in her name)
if you arenāt able to donate i totally understand - but please share this page and message far and wide!! thank you so so much!! xx
chip chase in the original transformers cartoon uses a wheelchair, and in transformers prime bumblebee is mute (he uses something like the equivalent of our morse code to communicate) but he gets cured in the end. also in more than meets the eye whirl is heavily implied to be mentally disabled and doesnt have hands or a face. in prime soundwave is also mute except for one line but you could argue its a vow of silence, although he is autistic coded
Anonymous said: (transformers anon) i thought of more!! prime arcee is ptsd and so is animated ratchet. shockwave in all continuities is missing a hand and his face. prime breakdown loses an eye but he dies not long after. animated blackarachnia is implied to have chronic pain or some sort of chronic illness.
Anonymous said:(transformers anon again) also in more than meets the eye grimlock has brain damage and in the original cartoon hes intellectually disabled (they say something like he has a small or simple processor). in prime ultra magnus loses a hand. in more than meets the eye its heavily implied that minimus ambus/ultra magnus is ocd.
NICE i had no idea that transformers had so many disabled characters thatās amazing!! iāll add them all to the page !!
did yall get my asks about canon disabled transformers characters?
shit yeah i did i just forgot to answer because i have to answer these on my computer and kept putting it off
one thing i wish i could express to able people irl is that i dont generally want my disabilities to go away. sure! it would be nice to be able bodied ! but the majority of the time what inhibits me the most is able people who dont understand disability and make me push myself more than i should until i end up collapsing
i dont want some miracle to cure me, i want able people to understand my limits and not force me to push myself past them. because iām okay with how i am! and i refuse to focus on the idea that one day a āmiracleā could cure me because itās unrealistic and unhealthy to focus on something that may never happen
happy pride month!! dont forget to include disabled lgbt people in your pride posts, we exist and deserve recognition ššš
does anyone have any tips on how to move out when youre disabled and cant work full time i really need to leave but i cant afford it unless i get on disability
Normalize disabled voices
Echolalia, monotone voices, stuttered speech, slurred speech, labored breathing between words and sentences, mechanical AAC voices, Ā AAC or sign users who consider those to be their voices, selectively mute voices, disorganized speech, speech with vocal tics, speech considered to be ofĀ āinappropriate volumeā, speech with vocal stims, all disabled voices and the ways they present
Normalize disabled voices
able bodied people trying to āproveā that people arent really disabled doesnt actually help any disabled people, it just makes it harder for us to get accommodations. you (able bodied people) have a preconceived notion about what ārealā disabled people are like, but the reality is that disability is different for everyone. theres not just one way to be disabled and by trying to pin down who you think āisnt really disabledā, or even just who you think doesnt deserve accommodations youāre making it more difficult for usĀ
we already have so many hoops to jump through to prove weāre disabled enough to deserve accommodations , we dont need able people ātrying to helpā by telling us who they think is fake when our experiences are vast and differ from person to person
able people can reblog this
important !
my name is emmett and iām a disabled trans man. today i found out that iām going to be allowed to stay at home while i transition!! however the stipulation is i have to pay for all the copays related to transitioning.Ā
because iām disabled and work part time at minimum wage, paying for the copays is going to eat through my paychecks really fast, especially since i have a few monthly things i have to pay for as well. if possible i could use a few donations to get me through at least my first appointment, if not my first few appointments
my cash.me is $emmetthaleĀ !Ā i know this isnt as urgent as other people in need so i understand if you donāt donate but if you could signal boost this iād really appreciate it!! thank you!!
edit: if you prefer to use paypal you can send it to [email protected] and it will get to me!
my physical therapist has been reminding me of some really important self care stuff and i wanted to list it out in case it might help someone else too!! so to my fellow disabled people:
itās okay to need to take breaks!
itās also okay to not be able to do things!
also if you need help thatās okay too!
thereās absolutely no shame inĀ not wanting to do things that cause pain!
being disabled and needing accommodations doesnāt make you any less valuable as a person!!
shoutout to my fellow disabled trans boys and nbs who cant bind as much as they want to because of disabilities
sorry for being so inactive i've had a LOT going on irl
