Situation 3: Fake Dating
Ooooh I love a fake dating AU!! + bonus bed sharing trope because I’m a sucker for those too! I got really carried away with this one oops
“Are you sure you want to do this?” You asked for the fifth time that night, twisting in your seat to look at Roger in the cramped space of the front seats in his car. “You can change your mind.”
“We’re five minutes from your parents house.”
“You can still change your mind.”
“Why would I change my mind?” He glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. “You changed your mind about putting up with me for the whole weekend? Ooh, worried they’re going to make us share a bed?”
He wiggled his eyebrows teasingly at that, one hand slipping down to flick the indicator on. A slow, rhythmic clicking filled the silence in the car before he spoke again. “Worried you’ll fall hopelessly in love with me?”
“Excuse me?” You choked out, caught off guard by the comment. The indicator switched off as Roger turned onto your parent’s street, and you saw him grin.
“S’been known to happen. Women spend too long around me and they just-“ He snapped his fingers for effect. “Poof, fall in love.”
He caught your stunned expression in his peripheral vision, misread it as a look of disgust, and laughed. “I’m joking, don’t worry. Most women think I’m an arse.”
“Most women would be right.” You said quietly, unable to get the words out with much conviction. Pretty much since the day Brian had introduced you to Roger, you’d harboured a secret crush on him. It wasn’t serious, you weren’t in love with him, but every so often when you were between partners, you found yourself wondering what it would be like to curl up in Roger’s arms, your face nuzzled into the crook of his neck while he hummed out whatever song he was working on. It was part of the reason Roger had been your first choice for a date when you’d decided you weren’t showing up to the big family Christmas get-together alone for the third year in a row. It was also part of the reason you’d spent the last hour trying to convince him to worm his way out of it, turn the car around and head back to Kensington. You’d even bribed him with the bottle of Southern Comfort that was stashed under your sink, but he didn’t take the bait. Occasionally indulging in a late night fantasy about Roger was one thing, having him play your boyfriend was another.
