He scoffed openly at the request to not use a name that still held so much emotion that it was a wonder it didnโt make his voice shake. It was impressive heโd learned to compartmentalize to that great an effort, considering his history was so tangled with hers that it was hard to tell where she ended and where he began. His own bright blues danced over her, having done away with the need to avoid looking. Perhaps he was comforted by his own torture, protecting their memories with mountains of mutual hurt, instead of letting them go all together. Looking at her told him a thousand things he didnโt want to know. Monroe St Thomas still knew her better than he knew himself, on any given day. It didnโt matter that today was about him, when concerns easily bubbled in his chest. It was what made him ache, what woke him up in the middle of the night. It was nightmares of their parting, waking up to their truth - the fact that never again would he be able to have her as he once had. It was like ripping the framework from the foundation and then demanding the house still stand. When she reached out, he shook his head before hand skipped hers. Instead, feet fell forward, arms wrapping around smaller frame to pull her in. He wasnโt sure if he needed it or she did, but it was there. Coming home felt like this, he was sure. Monroe probably held her too tight in the silent, chin resting on the top of her head, breathing in her memory. โJust shut up.โ He managed, eyes closed, and sigh that followed was hard to place, somewhere between wistful and contented.ย
ย ย ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ she felt his arms around her petite body, she could have sworn that she travelled back in time. to the times, where everything was simply better and she could consider him the most important person in her life, not making the slightest secret out of it. at his touch, her entire body stiffened at first, pure shock written all over her face as she didnโt know how to react. she wasnโt supposed to react in any way, she repeated over and over again, but other thoughts were simply overshadowing those. her head told her to push him away, to leave him, that she couldnโt be around someone that had joined the diablos while he knew that she belonged to the reapers & considered those family. and how her head constantly reminded her how much it hurt when she found out that he joined the wrong club, how she cried for too many days to count, never telling a single soul about it. but her heart ? oh , her heart . it didnโt want this moment to ever stop. victoria had missed the smell of his, the heat radiating from his body, the feeling of comfort and safety only he managed to give to her, even after all these years. for what felt like an eternity, the brunette simply didnโt move at all, it nearly even seemed like she wasnโt breathing anymore, this very scenario simply asking too much of her. extremely slowly, she finally dared to take a deep breath, going over all the possibilities of how this could end right now over and over again. and slowly & carefully, she mimicked his movements, arms wrapped around his muscular body, holding him as tight as possible, proving how scared she was of the second she had to let him go again. lips and hands were trembling as the emotions building up inside her were too much for her to handle, bright hues closed in fear, yet she could slowly feel little drops of water rolling over her cheek, ending up on his shirt. she wanted to listen to his words, to not break the silence, but there was a part inside her that couldnโt stay shut, that needed to clarify that this moment was wrong. โ we shouldnโt... i should better go... โ , she managed to whisper against his chest, voice breaking slightly while feeling his chin still on her head. but still, she didnโt even make the effort to move away for just an inch. while her mouth was listening to the thoughts in her head, her body was listening to her heart & she couldn't remember the last time she was so conflicted about anything.
