I was having a hard time finding a list like this that I liked, so I used a generator to make my own. send me a word and a fandom or character (characters?) and I'll write a wee little thing.
Not sure if anyone has noticed this, but I think the person who made the black rock gun uses they/them pronouns 👀 karla livingston, i think is their name????? In a document that talks about their reassignment, Diana refers to them using they/them pronouns
I know they're likely dead which is sad bc they'd be great with Emily making black rock weapons but also..... nonbinary rep yay :D
doomed by the narrative but not to death. doomed to survive. doomed to stay alive inside the story. doomed to never escape the narrative, not even through death. you are allowed no exit. there is no way out for you and there never was. you couldn’t die if you wanted to. the narrative has a hold on you and it won’t let go. death is too sweet a doom for you. the story has something much worse in mind. there is no way out.
Okay y'all I don't wanna work on an essay right now so I want to ramble a bit about my theories with the Fadens and their role in Alan's narrative. (continuing under the cut for spoilers)
Let's start with this: in AW2, Alan emphasizes that he cannot create something out of nothing, that anything he uses in the story has to already be established in the world. He can modify natures (ie. The Hiss), and we may not have the full picture of his extent of power over paranatural entities, since some such as Mr. Door can avoid his narrative while The Hiss was seemingly modified by it, but the rule of not being able to create something new seems pretty clear cut.
Then, as people have mentioned in other theories, Alan refers to Jesse in an interesting way in his narrative: Faden (There is one instance where he refers to her as Jesse Faden, but then we have at least one entire hotline instance where he only refers to her as Faden). A little confusing when there are two Fadens, right? It could cause a situation where the Fadens could wiggle their way out of the narrative, if Alan is not careful.
Because of this (and how The Board seems to combine Jesse and Dylan's names), some have theorized that Jesse and Dylan were originally one person split into two. But I theorize the opposite:
Alan tried to combine Jesse and Dylan into one person, and failed horribly.
Based off of the experiences with Saga (we likely don't yet have an exact timeline on when the Control pages were written compared to AW2, since it's not said what narrative Control is supposed to be a part of), it would make sense to write a hero with a slightly different angle. One who doesn't have the same level of connections to be exploited by the darkness.
Then there's the issue of Jesse and her paranatural nature. In the "Faden Rides the Elevator," it's hinted that Jesse may have been able to resist the call of the narrative, but chose not to. And the AWE DLC is likely, timeline-wise, before Jesse gets her power-up of Hedron collapsing and Polaris combining(?) with her fully. Dealing with one super powerful parautilitarian/paranatural entity is going to be difficult.
Now imagine dealing with two.
Yes, we don't quite know what Dylan's state is going to be once he wakes up from his coma, but he will still likely be powerful in some way. And, unlike Jesse, he has a known history of direct violence, and would probably kick Alan's ass if given the opportunity. (Even Jesse wasn't fully following the call of the narrative because she felt bad for Alan, but that "She knew that desperate acts can have grim consequences.")
So, I theorize that Alan is going to have to start relying on Jesse's nature and the situation around her to keep her in check, but with Dylan? That may be near-impossible, unless he's really weak during whatever events bring the Fadens in direct contact with him. It would be more manageable to just have one Faden instead, as it would be easier to control one dumbass rather than two.
But there's the issue of paranatural entities/parautiliarians. Again, we don't know the exact parameters, but they aren't as impacted by Alan's narrative. So that attempt to create Jesse Dylan Faden? Doesn't end up working.
I know I rambled a bit, but it's just my thoughts on how Dylan is definitely going to make Alan regret everything lol (my thoughts may change depending on if we get more information on timeline of writing, Logan's experiences during the loop, and other things)
do i spend some time today articulating my thoughts/theory on the Fadens and how they interact with Alan's narrative and how this could set up some Major Issues(tm) for our poor poor writer man down the road--
