"after feeling disconnected for so long/my mind and body are finally/coming back to each other" - rupi kaur
The vulnerability rupi kaur presents through her poetry are feeling people try to keep to themselves. The feeling she describes reminds me of depression and mental illnesses is something people try to keep close to their chest and not broadcast to the public.
Module 2: Post 2
"A sit on a chair that isn't mine/And I feel it / I know that I am a guest/ In someone else's home / So I don't complain/When they tell me / It is not yours / You do not belong" - A. Bentley
This is a feeling that many people can relate to - the sense of not belonging. Feeling like a guest sometimes prevents people from being their true selves. Many tend to be swallowed by the paranoia of judgment. And they are always prepared to leave at a moment's notice. A.Bentley puts this vulnerability into words when he confesses his feelings.
Module 2
"Since I was young, I have always known this, Life damages us, everyone. We can't escape that damage. / But Now I am also learning this: We can be mended. We mend each other." - Allegiant Veronica Roth
This quote provides insight into the growth the character goes through. The character achieves a new multi-faceted understanding of how life is. The wording also shows a vulnerability the character shows, something that isn't normally attributed to him.
Module 1: Post 2
I do tend to overshare. I love conversing with people and I am an open book. I like connecting with people and I tend to find that the easiest way to do so is to share things with others. Because of this, I do believe that the personal is political. People can be very intelligent with the facts they share about themselves. It can be used to influence and manipulate along with some of the more innocent reasons such as simply wanting to make friends. In all the online platforms I have - Instagram, TikTok, etc. - I try to be my authentic self. I find it exhausting always trying to be 3 steps ahead and being hyper-aware of what to post and what not to.
Module 1: Introduction
I am looking forward to learning more about digital media. With every generation, technology advances, and more and more are digitized. With social media and everything at our fingertips, digital media is vast and everyone is connected to some degree. It's interesting using Tumblr as a platform in this class. I have never used it before and I'm looking forward to using it and seeing this class's interaction with each other through it.
