I can look now

I’m happy to say, after years of terrible body image and self esteem exacerbated by weight gain, I can look at old pictures of myself.

I didn’t used to be able to. But with learning about how to better take care of myself, how to present myself, and respect my space/time/being, I am comfortable in my skin.

I am in my body. And I can look back on my younger self and see the beauty there in who I used to be.

we are seeing the narrative shift. they are trying to co-opt and sanitize the movement by separating the "legitimate" peaceful protests from the "ilegitimate" riots. don't buy into it. the riots are a legitimate expression of community rage and pain. they want peaceful protests without the threat of riots behind them because those are easy to crush, ignore, or placate with meaningless reforms. the movement needs to be threatening to the established order for meaningful change to be possible.
