White yearbook photos vs Black mugshots for the same crime.
Why did this story get run with these criminalsâ school photos, where on the same day, same situation, the article of another group of burglars featured their mug shots? (source)
Same day. Same channel. Same crime. Same author.
So why werenât mugshots good enough for the white guys who got arrested? Â Who already looks guilty before their trial? Â Which story plants the seed into a potential jury pool that this is a group of good kids versus this is a group of criminals?

Sandra Bland, in her own words: âItâs time, yâall. Itâs time.â
Ms. Bland was a 28-year-old activist who often spoke out against police brutality and racial injustice. Itâs time for us to stand up for her now.

The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams by Alessandra Sanguinetti
Cameos featuring detailed profiles of Black men and women in precious metals and jewels were popular in many European countries. The ones above date circa 1600-1800. Some art historians relate the style above to depictions of the goddess Diana, others relate them to the association of Blackness and wealth that came though trade in the Middle ages and Renaissance.
You can read more about cameos like these in Black Africans in Renaissance Europe By K. J. P. Lowe, p. 204-206, and Early Modern Visual Culture: Representation, Race, and Empire in Renaissance England By Peter Erickson & Clark Hulse, p. 193-198.
And you right in front of them and they didnât give a fuck. Talking about you like youâre a commodity. Sickening.
