Here's the original post (on FB, alas)

The one thing about Al that most people don't seem to get, the really critical thing, is that this whole thing isn't a "tech miracle" it's just the wal-mart scam. When wal-mart moves into town, the first thign they do is they run a bunch of sales, for years and years.
not because they care. Not because they just really wanna help. But because they really want to drive every single store that sells the same things they sell out of business. And because they don't really want to (and can't really compete) on the quality front, they do this by just leveraging deep pockets to offer really, really, really cheap prices. They do two things with this: First, they close every single other business that sells the things they sell. Second, they manage to get everyone used to shittier versions of the stuff they used to have higher standards on - it may not be as good, but hey, it's cheap, and who can complain these days?
Al art costs a LOT to make, and it costs way way way more to build the machine models that make it, and this money all goes straight to creating a bunch of waste power, heat, and pollution. It's the anti-environmentalist effect your mother told you about. But it's virtually free to you to use right now, even for the paid services. Do you know why?
Because they want you to use it. They're trying to kill off every source of news writing, picture painting, song singing, book writing, movie making, library storing, lesson teaching, code writing, information sharing, community building, thought thinking they can POSSIBLY manage to replace with worse (but cheaper) versions that can run through machines they run
and then they can charge you for it, and get BACK some money for the billions and billions and billions of dollars that they keep pouring into this stuff.
The people who build this stuff aren't your friend. This product isn't cool. It's not "no big deal" when you share an Al thought, or project, or message - it's about you willingly hopping on board with the people who want to kill everything you love so they can run a zombie robot version of it that they can rent to you later when it's all you have left. this isn't a "conspiracy". It's not secret. It's just the fucking plan and it's right out there in the open and these people even say it out loud if you'd start listening.

Bites of the Empire #1
Bites of the Empire will focus on the various sources that go into making staples of Imperial cuisine.
The wombote is a medium sized reptomammal that was native to Korriban.
Brought over from Korriban to Dromund Kaas by the Sith, these creatures have been domesticated for thousands of years and come in a variety of breeds.
The males sport a singular horn on their head and large frills on their backs while the females develop udders when nursing hatchlings. All adults have a fatty neck wattle lined with a singular row of flexible spines.
Wombotes are smaller livestock with a mild disposition that can forage nearly any vegetation. They are primarily raised for meat and milk, mostly being eaten on Dromund Kaas and Korriban but can be found on many other Imperial worlds as well.
Wombote meat is more savory, less sweet with a gamey flavor compared to the meats of other livestock like nerf or strox. The gaminess varies depending on the age of the animal at the time of slaughter with some Sith dishes using older, more pungent cuts compared to some Imperial dishes using younger ones.
There are 14 distinct cuts of meat that come from a wombote.
These cuts can be prepared in a number ways including stewed, curried, baked, grilled, barbecued, fried, jerked, or turned into sausages.
It is not uncommon to find street stalls that have multiple wombotes cooking over a pit, with pieces of the roasted meat being sliced off for dishes.
One can also find smaller pieces being sold at the butchers or a grocery store.
One way a cut of leg cane be prepared is by baking or roasting to top off a bed of fragrant rice.
Of course on Dromund Kaas the various noodle soup and variety stew stands feature wombote meat as well.
Some of these soups and stews feature meat from the head, which has been either roasted or boiled and peeled off.
The brisket is nearly all fat which is harvested and rendered.
It is cooked and mixed into curries or gravies.
The females breed twice the Imperial Standard Year, and when they do they produce milk which is also harvested for consumption.
Much of the milk is converted into various cheeses.
Some are spread on toast or crackers.
While others are cooked in curry dishes.
Aside from their culinary use the horn from the male wombotes can be harvested for artistic purposes.
In summary, the wombotes is a creature that is featured commonly in many Imperial dishes. And while they almost faced extinction with their Sith counterparts on Korriban, in the modern day they thrive in the Empire and feeding those within.
Tuk’ata: Loyal and Eternal Companions of the Sith
Marjay Toa Instructor: Lord Abaron Sith History and Culture
The tuk’ata are an indigenous canid species on Korriban. For countless millennia they have evolved alongside the Sith, impacting their culture and arts. While there are two distinct varieties of “wild” and “domesticated”, the term “tuk’ata” is commonly used to refer to both.
Earliest surviving records of an origin myth describe a tuk’ata and a mowhef entering a wager where the mowhef won, becoming the first Sith in the process. For her loss the tuk’ata offered up some of her own pups to the Sith woman’s children, becoming their servants and companions for all time. While the domesticated children of the tuk’ata branched off into hundreds of different breeds over time, all breeds can be categorized into one of four groups: battle, hunting, herding, and lap.
Battle
Battle breeds, as the name suggests, are bred to fight and guard. These tuk’ata were frequently used to guard temples, palaces, or charge into battle alongside their masters. A feature present in all battle breeds are the two sets of elongated, lower canines as opposed to the one of other breed groups. Another common feature is their size and bulk with some of the tallest and heaviest breeds of tuk’ata coming from this group. The last distinctive feature is that these tuk’ata tend to show more spines, spikes, and armor on their bodies.
A few popular battle breeds include: the bulwarg, ragehound, and rhakots.
The bulwarg is considered a “younger” breed, only appearing in Sith records after contact with the Exiles. They’re bulky, incredibly stubborn, and fiercely protective of their families.
The ragehound is one of the oldest breeds, seen in art and written records that stretch for thousands of years before the Exiles arrived on Korriban. They’re highly intelligent, obedient, and determined.
The rhakots is another ancient breed with its name containing the Sith word for “dream” and “to break” (otherwise simply translated as “dreambreaker”). They are known for being fearless and calm in the heat of battle while maintaining a good nature with their family.
Hunting
The hunting breeds are obviously bred to aid with hunting. Most of the time this meant wild game, but these tuk’ata have also been used to track down criminals or even perform search and rescue. Many hunting breeds rely on speed to run down their prey, or stamina to track it over long distances and periods of time.
A few popular hunting breeds are: the malikem, blurhound, and kaaset hound.
The malikem is an old breed used to run down game. Though not as fast as blurhounds, they maintain greater stamina, allowing them to chase their prey for longer periods of time. They are known to be quiet, aloof, and reserved.
Blurhounds have been bred to have minimal extraneous features compared to other tuk’ata breeds to facilitate their speed. Easily the fastest breed, these tuk’ata were traditionally used to chase small game but have been used for entertainment on the race tracks in more recent years. Being affectionate, gentle, and even tempered, they make for excellent pets.
The modern kaaset hound descend from Korrbani scent hounds that were bred soon after the rediscovery of Dromund Kaas. They have an exceptional sense of smell, being able to follow a trail over shallow bodies of water after days or weeks have gone by. They are very friendly, tenacious, and devoted.
Herding
Like with most civilizations in the galaxy, the early Sith developed keeping livestock early on in their history. And once herds of livestock came into the picture, these tuk’ata were bred to gather and protect them. Herding tuk’ata may also have been used for other “work” such as cart pulling or being guides.
Few common breeds are: the wild shepherd, grollie, and ziosti shepherd.
Wild shepherds get their name from the fact that they are bred to resemble wild tuk’ata. And while they have been used to herd livestock in the past, most are used for a variety of other occupations in the modern Empire. They are commonly seen as guard or security hounds since some of the battle breeds may prove too unruly for non-Sith trainers to handle. They are very alert, curious, and watchful.
Grollies come in a wide array of colors and coat patterns that were used to herd small livestock in the more mountainous regions on Korriban being quite nimble in various terrains. While protective and loyal, these tuk’ata do not show nervousness or aggression, which led them to being a quiet popular pet for some time.
The ziosti shepherd was bred to drive strox over long distances on the plains of Ziost. They use their horns and lower canines to poke and prod the strox, guiding them in the desired direction. They are known to be quite brave, energetic, and cautious.
Lap
Lap breeds refer to all small breeds of tuk’ata. Throughout Sith history they’ve had a variety of functions that weren’t just limited to “spoiled companions”. While these tuk’ata may be small in stature, they have some of the biggest personalities that would rival their wild cousins.
Some popular breeds are: the burrow hound, poofle, and chituka.
Burrow hounds get their name due to the fact that they were commonly featured in gardens where they would seek out the burrows of small animals. Though never officially used for any hunting purposes, they have been known to root out k’lor’slug eggs. They are playful, clever, and independent.
The poofle were originally bred as entertainment animals. Their coat comes in a wide array of colors and is able to be styled into many looks, while their intelligence made them easily trainable. They are sociable, energetic, and graceful.
The chituka is possibly the smallest breed of tuk’ata. While ancient art and records show tuk’ata that resemble the chituka, it is speculated that the modern breed was “reinvented” when the original was lost during the transitional period. Despite their diminutive size they are aggressive, quick, and courageous.
Myths and Legends
With so many tuk’ata coexisting with Sith over an incredibly long period of time, It is unsurprising that the tuk’ata are seen in many different myths and legends.
One of the earliest examples of mythical tuk’ata is associated with an ancient goddess known as Nayara. Nayara was the goddess of the hunt and the wilds. Depictions of her vary over time, dynasty, and geography. But one motif that is present in every depiction is the presence of one or more tuk’ata.
In some versions she is riding upon a wild tuk’ata, while others have a pack of various domesticated tuk’ata following her. It is because of this association that her followers saw tuk’ata as sacred animals.
Then there is Arga, the six-legged, six-eyed, fire-breathing, crimson tuk’ata that guard the gates of the dead.
Records state that this tuk’ata would always have at least one eye open, ensuring that no one leaves the realm of death under its watch.
Another notable tuk’ata is the Moonchaser. The ancient Sith associated a particular constellation with this tuk’ata.
The myths state how this tuk’ata would run across the Korribani night sky, chasing the moons as its name suggests. And that when a comet appears, it was successful in its endeavor.
The final example of a mythological or legendary tuk’ata is simply known as the “Phantom Omen”.
The Phantom Omen is a pure white tuk’ata with glowing blue eyes. Its very presence indicates tragedy, disaster or a calamity of some sort. Due to lingering superstitions, white tuk’ata are the least likely to be kept or adopted among the Sith.
Historic Art
While there are plenty of stories involving magical and supernatural tuk’ata, plenty of the regular kind found their way into Sith life and art.
One of the oldest mosaics unearthed features, what historians call, a proto-ragehound.
This particular mosaic, with the Kittât inscription reading “beware [of] tuk’ata”, was found at the entrance of a noble’s house. It was not uncommon to see these sorts of warnings at temples and houses.
The bottom of this earthenware bowl depicts a hunting scene featuring a malikem.
Many Sith kept decorated earthenware and pottery as household items. This particular bowl comes from a priest’s collection.
Colored-figure vase painting was a common and important style of figural Korribani art during the City-states Period. This particular fragment shows a blurhound scratching its head.
Another example from this time period is a figure vase showing a chituka looking up at some bundleberries.
Moving forward in time, a colored wood carving shows a wild shepherd chasing its flock.
Some parts of Korriban often used colorful, lacquered wood panels to tell stories to children of everyday occurrences.
And finally, tuk’ata of the wild and domesticated varieties were seen on weapons as well, with this sword hilt displaying wild tuk’ata heads.
In Modern Art
There is no doubt that these creatures continue to influence Sith, and Imperial, society in the modern age.
While the Sith have moved on from steel blades to lightsabers, some custom hilts can still bear a tuk’ata’s image.
Several breeds have also been adopted as mascots for various groups and organizations. One example is the Balmorran Bulwargs from the Balmorran Sith Academy’s huttball team.
And of course, the Imperial holonet is abundant with memes featuring tuk’ata to express a wide array of jokes.
With the tuk’ata being such an integral and long standing part of Sith, and now, Imperial society, it is safe to assume that these creatures will continue to influence the culture moving forward.
a few words!
bc i know ppl don’t go to the OP to read tags, plus there’s a lot to say.
first, yes, this is like super long and i’m sorry if it clogged your dash. but depending on whether you’re on mobile or desktop, it might look weird on my actual blog if i did a read more so… :/
i’m also sorry for the bad art. holy shit. ;-; esp the sith like omfg… i can’t draw, but I ESP CAN’T DRAW HUMANOID ANYTHING. 😭😭😭
so yea… sith doggos. :D
and if anyone’s wondering, these are the two i used as a ref for the wild tuk’ata.
but like… the end result was not good lol. :,)
anyway, this is written like… a class report, not a very good one tho lol. (like it’s not good as far as Official Collegiate lvl reports go. this is just… a shit post at best fam. give me a break). but yea, it’s by marjay (my si) during her academy days in a sith history and culture class (bc i figure that’s a class the si would’ve like… known and taken). there’d be a follow up report on picking a specific aspect and going into more detail. which i will not be doing haha :,D
what does the aurebesh mean?
for the breeds, just their breed name and stuff that’s typed out around them but more condensed. if you read the english text, you read the aurebesh. you’re not missing anything.
for the mascot, literally just “balmorran bulwargs!”
for the meme, “jedi then: i will purge the galaxy of all sith and their evil followers.” and “jedi now: that sith was rude to me.” yea i know, i’m not good at memes either.
i just wanna say, irl, doggos really do have a long and interwoven history. and afaik, there’s not a lot of those little bits with any fauna in star wars. i mean, take a quick scan at these pages.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Mythological_dogs
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogs_in_religion
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_depictions_of_dogs
obvs this can be applied to other animals too, but like, that’s my point…
shout out to @tinybuggy for “white doggo is bad” idea. and yea, it parallels irl superstitions with like black cats (and dogs! in some areas).
and now, imma cover some FAQs and comments that might come up.
can i use this? yes. in any way you want.
this is dumb. i don’t like it. cool. i’m not forcing this onto anyone. you CAN ignore it all if you want and i won’t mind. c:
but fluffy, i like CATS! i already did that. it’s right here lol. https://fluffynexu.tumblr.com/post/158044031372/wrats
umm. those aren’t cats.. yea i know. but for my worldbuilding purposes they serve the same function. plus canon has tookas and loth cats and felinx so like… take your pick there if you don’t like the wrattos? lol.
can i make my own tuk’ata breed? sure! :D i’m curious to see what a tuk’ata corgi would be like lol.
there’s a sith academy on balmorra? i don’t think so Canonically~ but iirc i think vemrin from the sw’s prologue came from balmorra. so my hc is that he transferred. plus, i’m sorry, but it’s hella fucking stupid to have literally ONE sith academy for the ENTIRE fucking empire. and at the time of this report, balmorra was still part of the empire so. :)
i’m sure there’s other things. which ofc, anyone can message me about (if you’re willing to wait 2-5 business days for a response lol sorry). and if there are typos or mistakes… idc. idc anymore. i’m so tired. DX
imperial life (sorta)
life within the empire is very structured. it’s a society where everyone Knows Their Place and what they’re supposed to be doing.
for ex. there is a certain “life schedule” that imperial citizens are expected to adhere to.
ages:
0-5, raised by family as infants. sent to daycare during toddler years.
5-10, primary school. begin basic education.
10-15, junior school. continue education.
15-20, senior school. start some training alongside education.
20-25/30, MANDATORY SERVICE TIME.
25/30+, marriage and having children encouraged and you can live your life.
now after an individual completes their mandatory time actively serving, they can either continue to serve or return to other jobs and functions in the empire.
so you can have someone who was a foot soldier or sniper during their service time, but then return to “civilian” life as a florist or school teacher.
the sith follow a similar “life schedule”.
ages:
0-5, raised by family and like minded peer groups.
5-10, primary academy. basic training and education.
10-15, secondary academy. continued training and education.
15-20, preparatory academy. continued training and education.
20+, sith academy (proper) and from there, it depends on the individual sith’s master and rank.
tho the purebloods have a tendency to marry their children off after at the age of 20 (or young 20s) in hopes of procuring grandchildren (and therefore, securing family legacies) before anything… unfortunate happens.
another aspect of imperial life that is deeply entrenched within the civilization but never talked about too openly is the caste system.
everyone in the empire, sith or slave, is shoved into one of these castes. it is possible to move UP and DOWN. moving upward requires marrying someone of a higher caste, but ppl usually (tho not always!) stick to and marry within their own castes. moving down tends involves committing a crime and being punished for it, or disownment from family.
there are certain advantages of being a part of upper castes. which include, but are not limited to:
wider access on the holonet
higher pay
more options for housing
priority healthcare
less restrictions on travel
etc.
the two main groups the castes fall into are sith and imperial. obvs the sith castes are above the imperial ones.
castes among the sith are categorized by “blood purity” and family lineages. the older, purer bloodlines that can trace their roots to korriban are seen above sith who might not have such a heritage.
pureblood, greater families
pureblood, lesser families
human, greater families (usually have some pureblood family members as well)
human, lesser families (usually all human)
human, common (usually an individual that comes from a non-sith background that found sensitivity in the force)
alien
imperial castes on the other hand are categorized by “occupation” rather than bloodlines.
officers. self explanatory. within this caste the officers follow the rank order. ie, moff > captain.
healers. ppl who can help and heal others. doctors, psychiatrists, therapists, etc.
scholars. those who spend their time studying, researching, or teaching. scientists, philosophers, lawyers, professors, etc.
protectors. internal security of the empire. police type, firefighters, paramedics, emergency responders, imperial intelligence, etc.
farmers. self explanatory, also includes breeders (for fancy pets and vanity animals).
crafters. for those who MAKE or design things. artists, architects, engineers, cooks, tailors, etc.
traders. folks who buy and sell things or deal with money frequently. business people, vendors, bank folk, accountants etc.
entertainers. mostly performers of some type. actors, musicians, athletes, sex workers, etc.
cleaners. those who deal with trash or bodies. janitors, butchers, housekeepers, manicurists, waste management, groomers, etc.
casteless. ironically named, but still technically a caste. includes non citizens that may be visiting or traveling through, new imperial citizens, or disowned (usually non force sensitive) sith.
slaves. self explanatory.
in the old, old sith empire (pre arrival of exiles), the sith also had a ruler and priest caste. it can be argued that the two were simply merged into the modern sith grouping and all of their castes within.
as far as any that might be lawmakers and where they’d fit in. that’d be the dark council with some occasional input from very high ranking officers like the grand moff.
so in theory(!), anyone can move up or down the caste ladder. in reality it’s very rare and ppl are often born into one caste and simply live their life within its confines and die. but ppl across the entire caste system can and do work together frequently.
an ex is the sw and crew.
akrona is not only sith, but a pureblood from a greater family. making her one of the most privileged and (potentially) influential ppl in the empire.
quinn comes from a family of officers and they’ve all been at the relative top of imperial society for generations. even after his court martial he’s considered to be very lucky to have remained in the same caste.
pierce actually comes from farmers but managed to be promoted to an officer during his time in service. but since he wasn’t born into it, quinn some officers have an obvious bias against him for his position.
vette, being a freed slave is casteless. tho thx to having a sith benefactor and friend, she can get away with a lot more than others within her same social standing.
some notes under the read more since i KNOW you ppl don’t go to the op to read my darn tags! >,< lol

Speculative twilek anatomy, anybody? This is about ythe skull specifically, the part of star wars races that tends to be most interesting and human divergent. Inspired by the wonderful work of @spacelingart
More notes:
-Lek Roots vary in terms of length and placement. Hera has very long and outward pointing lek roots, whereas Oola and Lyn have thick short roots that point back.
-it’s also possible that the levels of fat deposit on the crest as well as root angle/placement might be correlated with twilek ethnicity! Oola and Hera might be green, but it might be that Oola and Lyn are from the same twilek “race”, so are Lunae and Aayla, and then Hera is some third one.
-I see literally no reason that male twileks would never have high set lekku, or that a female would have low set lekku.
I was gonna write more but I’m tired! And I wanna post this. I think next I might do togruta skulls and lekku/Montrals or some stuff on zygerrians next :)
All of my straw wars species speculation will be tagged as “sws speculation” if you wanna see more!

Astralignment
and the Korribani Calendar System
Before the arrival of the Exiles the native Sith on Korriban had their own system of keeping track of time. Over the years, this became standardized and refined and is still in use by a large portion of the modern Pureblood community. Since the ancient Sith were observant beings of their world, many of the names and symbols reflected their natural environment. All of these aspects go into what is known as a Sith’s astralignment (astro-alignment).
Since the Empire runs on Imperial Standard Time (IST), anything relating to Korriban or any other Imperial world is referred by the local time of that planet.
Compare a year on Dromund Kaas to Korriban:
Dromund Kaas (everything in standard)
24 hours/day
312 days/year
7,488 hours/year
60 minutes = 1 hour
24 hours = 1 day
5 days = 1 week
7 weeks = 1 month
35 days = 1 month
8 months (+4 weeks and 4 holidays) = 1 year
312 (standard)days = 1 year
Korriban
28 (standard) hours/day
780 (local) days/year
21,840 (standard) hours/year
70 (standard and local) minutes = 1 hour
24 (local) hours = 1 day
10 (local) days = 1 week
6.5 (local) weeks = 1 month
65 (local) days = 1 month
12 (local) months = 1 year
780 (local) days = 1 year
This roughly makes 1 Korribani year approximately 2.9 [Dromund] Kaasi years.
Calendars
The days on Korriban are annotated on some versions of the Imperial calendar alongside the standard days.
In this example, names of the days on the calendar reflect the IST. The black numbers indicate the date in IST, the red numbers represent the date of the Korribani calendar. Placement of the Korribani date indicate when that day begins in relation to the Kaasi one.
A. 00:00 is the same for both. B. 00:00 K starts at 04:00 DK. C. 00:00 K starts at 08:00 DK. D. 00:00 K starts at 12:00 DK. E. 00:00 K starts at 16:00 DK. F. 00:00 K starts at 20:00 DK. G. Loops back around and 00:00 K lines up 00:00 DK .
While seemingly complicated to some, most Sith have grown with this system of overlapping calendars and can easily tell the date by the positioning of the numbers in this format.
There are of course, electronic versions where the date is shown simply:
Since the Korribani month is longer than the Kaasi one, the dates will continue through the Kaasi months. These next two pictures show how long 1 Korribani month is in relation to a Kaasi one.
There is also a version of the Korribani calendar that does not overlap with IST. These are used locally on the planet.
The days of the Korribani week were named after major gods from the most widespread pantheon on the planet:
Ahmuriq, from Ahmurn: the creator god.
Marseriq, from Marserha: mother goddess of the Sith.
Bashariq, from Bashara: goddess of passion.
Teraiq, from Teral: god of protection and justice.
Iskarliq, from Iskarln: god(dess) of conflict and war.
Marduriq, from Mardur: patron god of the Massassi and strength.
Rusaniq, from Rusanel: goddess of knowledge.
Zefiriq, from Zefir: goddess of the hunt.
Shumariq, from Shumari: god of the harvest.
Goruiq, from Gorul: the trickster god(dess).
Months
There are numerous constellations in the Korribani sky. Twelves of these mark the months of the year as well as going into the astalignment. The 12 major, monthly constellations all depict local fauna from ancient fables and have certain characteristics that are commonly associated with them.
1. Yuninchâtsutuyok, the jiminat and agzonûboj engaged in eternal conflict. Dedicated, ambitious, and insightful.
2. Qyalatuyok, the qyalak. Calm, sentimental, and inquisitive.
3. Badzuriqatuyok, the badzuriqash. Tenacious, practical, and direct.
4. Kaarjontuyok, the kaarjontû. Spontaneous, contemplative, and observant.
5. Tukatatuyok, the tukata. Loyal, respectful, and staunch.
6. Hatyatuyok, the hatya. Articulate, perceptive, and adaptable.
7. Lomaituyok, the lomait. Disciplined, fearless, and competitive.
8. Dzushatuyok, the dzushaj. Private, calculating, and flexible.
9. Mowhetuyok, the mowhef. Stern, traditional, and ruthless.
10. Dyaltituyok, the dyaltir. Mischievous, studious, and charismatic.
11. Jhan’dikanatuyok, the lost dikana. Creative, sociable, and resourceful.
12. Niqoituyok, the niqoit. Erudite, cunning, and free-spirited.
Years
The years are also represented by local animals. No one, not even Sith scholars or historians, are sure of the origin of how these animals came to represent the years on Korriban’s calendar. It is one of the many parts of Sith culture that have been lost since it is believed this particular record has been passed down through oral tellings.
The years are kept track of in a 6-year cycle with each year emphasizing a likely success for the ones born in that year.
Chiroik - Wealth
Wokinai - Knowledge
Natûsh - Fame
Dzenal - Influence
Litskoj - Power
Sulemish - Longevity
(ie. Those born in the year of the Sulemish will have a long life.) This again factors into a Sith’s astralignment.
In addition to the years, these 6 animals are also used for the hours on Korriban. But time is not conveyed in the same manner as Basic. While in Basic one would simply say “14:25” (or two twenty-five in the afternoon) the Sith have a much more involved way to convey time.
For example: Shyracks screech and return to their caves as the priestess prepares the altar in the hour of the wokinai.
Translates to: 07:15 local time (or seven fifteen in the morning).
As a side note, a few centuries ago Darth Feras domesticated and bred wrats within the Empire. At first they weren’t seen with much interest by her peers. But popular rumor has it that she pointed out her creations embody the physical traits of the yearly beasts.
Eyes - Chiroik
Ears - Wokinai
Body - Natûsh
Hands - Dzenal
Feet - Litskoj
Tail - Sulemish
Afterwards they quickly became a favored pet and companion among the Sith, being seen as an auspicious animal.
While not related to their calendar there is a tradition of being assigned a birth flower. For this, the Sith do not look to their skies but rather, when a child is born the placenta is buried in a pot with 12 seeds. The first of these seeds to sprout becomes that Sith’s birth flower. These 12 flowers are also used in medicine, therapeutic or preventive, for some common ailments.
Serla for headaches.
Roshal for good eyesight.
Nashkir for sore throats.
Atsudqâ for heart health.
Hyaranjat for good digestion.
Mûyoin for muscle pain.
Shasâyar for fertility.
Jûzon for blood circulation.
Ashanin for bone mending.
Qoyo for fevers.
Chisiqsanu for irritated ridge skin.
Kûsk’inti for fatigue and replenishing energy.
The last two parts that go into a Sith’s astalignment are their energies. The weekly energies correspond with 4 classic “elements” of earth, fire, air, and water. While the daily energy simply refers to day or night (d/n) in regards to when the person was born.
Combined with all aspects mentioned in this document, year, month, weekly energy, day (+energy), and flower, one can study a Sith’s astalignment. ex. Darth Vowrawn’s astalignment factors:
The study of these astralignments is a complicated field on to its own while the findings can be very important to some among the Sith. There are specialized scholars who offer their services to the old families so that the “perfect matches” (marriage, business, or otherwise) can be set up.

but uh, yea. if you’re wondering “hang on there fluffy… did you really make a big, dumbass zodiac/astrology post??” the answer is…
yes.
yes i did… xU
but also i imagine the ancient sith had a lot of special and important dates for you know… religious things? *shrug* and over the many, many years all of this was passed down and prob altered in some way to fit into modern sith society? idk…
now imma say some things here bc i know For A Fact!!! that ppl don’t go onto original posts to read op tags on this hellsite lol.
and this isn’t me trying to sound like an arrogant asshole… but these are for some common questions that’ll undoubtedly come up:
yes, you can use this in any extent or manner.
no, you obvs don’t have to. ignore it if you want. i’ll be ok lol.
no, i’m not gonna write a long ass book with all the little details on every aspect of all the traits and then assign these things for your character(s). just make something up. that’s what i did here xD (plus my brain is d e a d from this)
yes, this is seen as a mostly(!) tomato pureblood sith thing but obvs attitudes are different between individuals. some are super into it, some could careless and think it’s all fake news, some have parents that care too much about it which is annoying and interfering with their life so they lowkey hate it lol.
no, i couldn’t do a read more bc it wouldn’t look as nice and i worked hard ok? ;-; i apologize for clogged dashes in advance.
i think that’s it? ofc feel free to hmu if you’re ok with a reply that can take anywhere from a few min to 3 business days ^-^;

~In Memoriam~
Brief History
In 1025 Darth Feras, then Lord Jwinü, was on one of her exploration mission to the planet of Tatooine. There she came upon creatures known as “womp rats” (Tatooines rattus ferox). She was fascinated that even with the Force, she could barely sense them. After further investigation she realized these creature had a very basic grasp of using the Force to cloak themselves. This prompted Darth Feras to take considerable time studying them during her stay. She quickly discovered that the womp rats were feared and hated by almost all sentient beings that knew of them, especially among humans.
But while the greater galaxy saw these animals as loathsome pests, Darth Feras saw a misunderstood creatures that exhibited ferocity, stealth, and cunning, all of these were traits admired by the Sith. At the end of her mission on Tatooine, Darth Feras took a sizable colony of womp rats back to the Empire. For the next several decades, she used a combination of Sith Alchemy and selective breeding to tame, domesticate, and create various breeds of “wrats” (Drokaas rattus familiaris).
The new species of wrats quickly found themselves in high regard among the Sith as pets. After Darth Feras’s death, her students and apprentices continued the work with the wrats. They created and developed more breeds over the years, which led to the founding of the Sith Society for Wrats (SSW) in 1101. Eventually, the SSW officially changed its name to the Imperial Society of Wrat Fanciers (ISWF) in 1318. The organization continues to hold annual shows to recognize exceptional breeders and their specimens to this day.
Although wrats were once revered as pets exclusive to the Sith, the Empire has slowly allowed these animals to become the companions of average Imperial citizens over the course of many years. However the vast majority of wrat owners, especially of purebreds, are still Sith or high ranking Imperial officers.
Temperament
Temperament vary greatly between breeds and even between the individuals within a breed. But in general wrats are known to be highly intelligent, friendly toward their family, wary of strangers, curious, protective, fierce, and goofy. Being even slightly attuned to the Force makes them obedient and easily trainable, especially if the owner is a Sith. Because of this wrats can be used for various things aside from being “pampered pets”.
Biology
While the wild womp rats of Tatooine can grow up to 2-3 meters in length, their domesticated counterparts are smaller on average with a greater range in size. Reaching anywhere from 0.5-2 m in length, adult wrats can weigh 5-50 kg and stand between 25-110 cm tall. The average for all wrats lie somewhere between 75 cm long, 15 kg in weight, and 50 cm in height. With a Force sensitive owner they have long lifespans, up to 30 years, but with a non-Force user their lifespan tops out around 16 years.
Unlike womp rats which are polyestrous, wrats are monestrous and only breed once a year. Their gestation period is about 66 Imperial Standard Days with 4-6 pups born at a time. It takes a couple of months for the pups to be weaned and mature enough to be re-homed, and around 1-2 years of age is when a wrat reaches sexual maturity.
Like their wild counterparts, wrats are true omnivores capable of eating almost anything and everything, thus maintaining a proper diet is very important. Another retained trait from the wild womp rats is the continuous growth of their incisors. Owners must deal with this appropriately with adequate toys and objects for the wrat the chew on. Wrat teeth have been made more durable than their wild counterparts through the alchemic process, and they can gnaw through durasteel and permacrete if given enough time. The legendary bite of the womp rat was also retained, and wrats have very strong, painful bites with locking jaws that will not release unless the animal allows it.
Another trait altered from their wild brethren include a more refined vision. Wrats may have a better sight than womp rats, but both species still rely heavily on their sensitive hearing, smell, and touch. With four ears wrats can hear both above and below the hearing ranges of humans, allowing them to communicate and track prey more effectively. It’s also said that their sense of smell is second to that of akk dogs, making them suitable detection animals. They also have a full face of whiskers that are sensitive enough to feel subtle vibrations in the air.
Variations in Appearance
Wrats come in a wide variety of colors, patterns, sizes, and shapes. Some of these looks are set into a specific breed while many can be seen across multiple breeds.
Eye Colors
Wrat eyes primarily come in two colors: red and black. Their eyes can be red, black, or one of each. They can also have pink or blue as eyes, but those colors are considered extremely rare and are usually linked to a genetic defect.
Ear Placements
Wrat ears are placed in one of three ways on their head: top, side, or drooped. The top eared variety is the most common. Ears on the side are sometimes more rounded and give the wrat a “cuter” face. Droop eared wrats cannot perk up the ears the way top eared ones can and are the least common ear type.
Head Shape
The head shape of wrats can be mesocephalic, brachycephalic, or dolichocephalic. The shapes are more commonly referred to as round/regular, flat/smushed, or pointed/long.
Round/regular is the most common head shape among wrats, followed by pointed/long and then by flat/smushed. Some flat faced wrat breeds over-exaggerate the “smush” effect from years of selective breeding and can often contribute to health problems such as labored breathing or the potential for eyes dislocating from the sockets.
Tail Types
Most wrat tails are “hairless”, coming in the single or split variety. But they can also be short, with a bit of fur, or fully furred.
Coat Types There are four different types of coats found in domesticated wrats: short/self, long/silky, wired/curly, or bald/hairless.
Short haired is the most common type of fur found among wrats. The short coat is comprised of true fur which only grow to a certain length before being shed and replaced.
Long haired coats only show up in a few breeds such as the luxurian or silken. The long coat is comprised of hair which differs from short fur in that it will grow continuously. This means that any long haired wrats need maintenance or vanity cuts for the fur coats.
Wire haired wrats are also fairly uncommon. Their fur also does not shed nearly as much as a short hair and should feel rough and bristly when compared to the silky and smooth textures of long and short hair.
Hairlessness is only found breed, the finx. Despite the name, no wrat is truly hairless. Finx wrats still retain their whiskers and some even have small patches of ultra fine fur. But any other wrat that displays hairlessness, whether in patches or on the whole body, is considered a product of genetic mutation.
Body Sizes and Shapes Wrats range vastly in size. The smallest breed of wrat weighs in under 5 kg while the largest breed can exceed over 50 kg. While any body shape can be found at any size, for the most part the two traits are interlinked. This leads to the general categories of: large/tall, medium/regular, and small/dwarf.
Tall wrats have elongated legs, making them better at running which in turn makes them excellent trackers and hunters. Their longer limbs do not hinder their ability to climb, which has come in handy in the jungles of Dromund Kaas. Most tall breeds are larger than the average wrat, but some of them can be small in size with while maintaining the tall body shape.
Medium wrats are considered the norm when it comes to the shape. While they’re not as adept at running long distances like their taller brethren, they are still quite agile and many breeds of regular wrats that are used for hunting or guarding. Wrats with this body shape generally fall within 10-20 kg, making them not too big and not too small for most owners.
Dwarf wrats are affected by a genetic condition called achondroplasia, which is the same kind of dwarfism found among sentient species such as humans. The condition greatly shortens their limbs, causing them to appear “stumpy”. Though a large wrat can be a dwarf, most dwarf breeds were also bred down to smaller sizes and mainly serve as lap pets.
Coat Colors Currently, there are 14 base colors seen in wrats. Of course, a wrat can have multiple colors in many different patterns so the possible looks are nearly endless.
Coat Patterns There are many different patterns found on wrats, but the most common are: masked, capped, hooded, striped, point, spotted, solid, underbelly, blaze, chestguard, tricolor, robed, bareback, top stripe, patched, caped, suited, belted, lined, and hind striped.
Masked: Band of color over the eyes, extending to sides of the face. Rest of the body should be white or a lighter color than the mask.
Capped: Entire head is a darker color than the rest of the body.
Hooded: The head and back are colored while the rest of the body is white.
Striped: Dark vertical (cranial to caudal) stripes run down the entire body. Face should be bare of any markings. The stripes are a darker color than the base fur coat.
Point: The nose/jawline as well as the lower limbs of the wrat are a lighter color than the body, and if the tail is furred, the tip of the tail should match the light fur color. The body is typically black in color.
Spotted: Body and spots can be any color, but the spots must appear to be speckled or splattered. Any color for the spots and body, they just need to be different.
Solid: One solid color for the entire body.
Underbelly: Head, neck, chest and belly should all be a darker color than the rest of the body.
Blaze: Refers to a specific pattern on the face. There should be a patch of white or light coloring on the nose and up to the forehead.
Chestguard: A patch of fur lighter than the rest of the body should be on the chest.
Tricolor: There must be three distinct colors manifesting in any of the following patterns - robed, suited, hooded, belted, spotted, top stipe, or patched. Thus this pattern includes any of the ones listed.
Robed: One darker color for the dorsal side of the body and a lighter one for the ventral side.
Bareback: The head and shoulders are a darker color than the rest of the body.
Top Stripe: A thin line, usually black but can be other dark colors, runs down from forehead to the base of the tail. The rest of the body should be lighter in color.
Patched: Large, round patterns appearing at random all across the body. These patches and the body should be different colors.
Caped: A thick, broad band of dark color runs down the back. Head should be bare and match with rest of the body.
Suited: From part of the face as well as the ventral side should be white while the rest of the body is one solid dark color.
Belted: There must be a distinct band going all the way around the wrat’s midsection.
Lined: Similar to striped, but the stripes have dotted lines within them as well.
Hind Striped: Dark horizontal stripes appearing only on the back end of the wrat.
Breeds
Though many of the wrat breeds were bred to fulfill the purpose of “household pets”, there are some that possess “multi functional” properties. These wrats are used to fulfill other “jobs” aside from being pampered pets. Some of the more recognizable breeds are the moraban which are used commonly by Inquisitors, and the ibalken for executions, or warmarr for battles.
The ISWF currently recognizes 36 official breeds, though there are many ‘mixed’ and ‘common mutts’ that exist but left uncategorized. For a new breed to be recognized it must first be created by a Sith alchemist or breeder and pass the scrutiny of the ISWF standards.
In Society and Culture
Since their domestication, wrats have gone to influence many aspects of Sith and Imperial culture. There are countless examples of wrats depicted as symbols and mascots being known throughout the Empire.
Nidsey The most notable and beloved name in regards to “wrats in entertainment” is Rolt Nidsey.
In 1221 he began his Nidsey Entertainment Company that has since grown exponentially. What began as a series of short stories of Wilsor and Wenny Wrat quickly turned into an ever expanding list of beloved classic tales within the Empire. Because of the popularity of Nidsey and the characters of the stories it produces, there was an island on Dromund Kaas that was developed into an attraction called Nidsey Nation while the moon of Dromund Fels is currently being terraformed for Nidsey Realm.
Some of the many, many stories that have endured over the past century are: P1N0CC1-1I0, The Maiden and the Monster, Star Bright, The Little Voidling, The Mowhef King, The Mutant of the Citadel, 101 Daleshuns, The Forest Tome, Ashlenna, Slumbering Sith, and Saber in the Stone.
Wrathful Wrats Another incredibly popular and beloved group of wrats come in the form of a long running cartoon known as the Wrathful Wrats. The series follows the Fearsome Four, a group of extraordinary wrats that face off against the many enemies of the Empire.
Though the Four are the main cast, the show also has many other characters and cameos of popular icons in Imperial culture. Since the show has been on air for a while, the main cast is also swapped for new characters.
Plushables! Wrats are often a popular design for children’s toys and dolls. The most popular in the Empire are a certain brand of plush dolls called Plushables!. Aside from the famous cartoon icons such as the main cast of the Wrathful Wrats, many notable Sith are often turned into wrat version of themselves for these toys.
The Sith that are turned into these dolls are almost, always Darths. Since these are seen as special collector’s items, the company discontinues sales of the doll if the Sith dies. The only exception being when they do a limited release of Historical Figures.
The Fat Wrat Very few restaurants can boast about quality and quantity. The Fat Wrat is one of the few eating establishments that can truthfully make this claim.
The restaurant started with a Sith by the name of Lord Curay and his wrat, Raly, who had an exceptionally sensitive sense of smell. With the help of some of his Imperial counterparts, Lord Curay started a small and exclusive eatery that only hosted the elite of the Empire. All of the ingredients purchased were said to be inspected by Raly, leading to some of the best dishes served in the Empire, if not the galaxy.
After Lord Curay’s (and Raly’s) death, the restaurant opened its doors to anyone and everyone in the Empire. In addition, a buffet was added to the restaurant that serves food from all over the galaxy. Patrons can choose to either eat from the buffet or À la carte with prices starting at 150 credits for a lunch buffet and the average main entree at 75 credits (without adding any drinks, appetizers, or desserts).
The Fat Wrat is also notable for never taking any reservations and functions on a first come, first serve basis. The only exception to the no reservations rule is if the Emperor himself wished to dine there or if at least half of the entire Dark Council were to book a time.
Sith Culture Since wrats originally started as exclusive pets for the Sith, it’s no surprise that the Sith have adapted new art and customs regarding these animals.
With any kind of subject, wrats have been depicted in paintings, sculptures, carvings, writings, and even as decorative designs on lightsaber hilts of some Sith.
It is common to see large and small statues of beloved family pets placed inside the home, in a garden, or even guarding family tombs.
Wrats have become such treasured pets to the Sith, some are even considered as part of the family. So when a wrat owned by a Sith passes away, their body is handled in one of two ways: mummification or cremation.
Regardless of whether or not the wrat is mummified or cremated, their remains are often stored within family tombs or vaults. Imperials don’t mummify their pets, but cremation and burials is how they proceed to mourn their wrats. Since burials are more common with Imperial owners, there’s a Wrat Cemetery, a series of small, hovering landmasses over the northwest corner of Kosqam. Although it is called a Wrat Cemetery, any animal companion can be buried there.
a HUGE thanks to @thegarbagechute!!! seriously. ;-; this would not have been possible without gelly being super awesome and patient and wonderful! BLESS~

seriously though old republic sith are the absolute epitome of “look if you have to keep saying it…”
like yes, lord killdeathizar, I’m sure you’re a dark beacon of terror and the unworthy masses tremble before you and you could kill us all with a flick of your evil wrist and the republic will be crushed by you personally, anything you’ve felt the need to say five times in the last three hours must be true
a thing I love about swtor is: there are a whole bunch of space wizards around who are only average at being space wizards, and some of these space wizards are sith, and the results are hilarious
This would have been lost in the tags and that is a CRIME
Idzrazat
Idzrazat, the rite of trust, is a private binding ceremony undertaken by Sith - most often entering into a love match, though it isn’t strictly limited to such - as a demonstration of the confidence they are placing in their future spouse (or spouses).
Conducted by a Sith close to the parties being married - a family member, friend, or mentor - most details of the ceremony are entirely optional, though some aspects are constants. All parties are attired in the traditional clothing: loose-fitting silk trousers or skirts in deep crimson, and either a matching shirt or no shirt at all depending on the individual’s comfort level and cultural mores. (Varius & Adriana popularized the shirtless look for men and the jeweled halter for women, one of the most enduring ceremonial trends in recent times.) When even the smallest wedding features attire with armor of some sort or another, its absence is significant, and thus is the backbone of idzrazat.
Some choose to eschew lightsabers, as well, coming to each other weaponless as a further demonstration of faith in the other. It is also not unheard of for the parties involved to wear their first sabers and exchange them, though these sabers are then often saved for any progeny.
It is no secret that a Sith’s greatest weapon is the Force; those most committed to the rite (and by extension, to each other) will have two additional attendants whose sole purpose is to conduct and maintain lâmtiqyâsik, the ritual that briefly mutes one’s connection to the Force, so that they might stand before each other truly vulnerable. In times past, though much more rarely now except in the most traditionally-minded partnerships, the parties would then take part in tyûkag (the rite of strength), wherein they participate in unarmed combat until they have fought to a stalemate. This reveals both their strengths and their weaknesses to the other, or others.
Couples often exchange gifts before the ceremony itself. For purebloods, these are often symbolic of Marserha and Ahmurn. Sith from differing backgrounds most often choose gifts meaningful to their particular culture, as a way of showing that their new spouse or spouses are accepted among their people. Some choose something as simple as a favorite flower; these are often pressed and framed with holos from the wedding.
While public ceremonies vary widely, with most unique to their participants, idzrazat has always followed a particular recitation, given by the officiant to the parties. In its original form, it was much longer, but as more ostentatious public ceremonies and marrying of power bases became the norm in the Ascendant period, often requiring multiple days in order to properly conduct the wedding and adjacent celebrations, the recitation was shortened into what most Sith use today.
You come before each other defenseless, with outstretched hands, pledging yourselves and your power to the other. Just as the bloodflower is sustained by the Korribani sun, from this day forth you shall sustain each other, with no more secrets between you. With this new understanding, your knowledge in the Force shall grow, and you shall be each other’s sword arm, guardian, and support. Together you are a united front, a microcosm of the strength in unity that sustains our Empire.
Kaas City Districts
Dromund Kaas is the capital world of the Sith Empire. Although not a ecumenopolis like Coruscant or Nar Shaddaa, the planet’s Kaas City is a massive megalopolis in its own right that roughly covers 70% of the continent with a population in the billions.
Unlike other large continent or planet spanning cities in the galaxy, Kaas City has a reputation for efficiency and cleanliness. There are currently 25 districts within Kaas City. And while one can find the necessary resources such as schools, housing, hospitals, and food stores in all of them, each have their own “specialties” that gave rise to their unofficial district names.
1. The Citadel Not necessarily a true district, but the building itself is massive and integral to the whole city if not the entire Empire. It was rebuilt by Darth Nostrem in 937AE after a famously violent Kaggath destroyed the original building. The current structure houses all branches and heads of governing bodies as well as having a small enclave for the Mandalorians.
2. Capital The Capital District surrounds the area around the Citadel. It houses all other major Imperial buildings relating to governing bodies and an unbelievable number of bureaucratic offices that regulate every aspect of Imperial life. There aren’t many attractions in this district since it mainly functions to govern and thus presented in a fairly austere manner. All organizations found in this district fall within one of the twelve spheres. Few notable agencies are Imperial Revenue Service, Ministry of Imperial Aquaculture, Ministry of Imperial Agriculture, Imperial Department of Transportation, Office of Nutrition Distribution, Sith Cultural Preservation Council, Ministry of Trade, Imperial Security Bureau and so on.
3. Cultural The Cultural District subdivides into the visual and performing arts. This district is well known for the numerous museums, opera houses, concert halls, galleries, parks, and even some historical sites. It also has some of the more unique looking buildings with some having or being large, intricate works of art. Some highlights include, the Grand Opera House, the Historical Art Museum, Central Grand Park, Museum of Sith History, Bolâts Falls, Lords’ Concert Hall, the Imperial Gallery and much more.
4. The Nexus This district features the famous Nexus Room Cantina which was originally a large indoor-outdoor shopping mall. Over the years it turned into a large cantina since it served as the main hub, and thus the main waiting area, for the The Nexus which is an elaborate system of subterranean, planetary public transportation.
5. Trade The largest district in Kaas City, the Trade District has all of the best, top end shops and the largest warehouse stores. Anything from the entirety of the Empire and the greater galaxy can be found, sold, or bought here. Some of the foreign goods include items such as nuna meat from Naboo, krayt dragon pearls from Tatooine, killik-silk from Alderaan, and wampa pelts from Hoth. Some of the more common domestic products include the extensive meat and fish markets on Butcher Row, the stunning jewelry selection in the area known as the Gem Pocket, and even shops that sell special lumber from Ziosti oaks.
6. Spaceport Kaas City Spaceport is located on the far eastern region of the continent and is not directly connected to city. There is a small stretch of jungle between the spaceport area and the rest of Kaas City which is usually handled through public transport. Around the spaceport are many hotels and a few spas travelers can stay at to refresh before heading out into the city.
Having the largest populace in the Empire, especially within this one city on the planet, there are a number of residential districts where most of the citizens reside.
7. The Dens Most average Imperials live in the Dens. It’s a modest yet cozy residential area with everything a family could need or want.
8. Lake By contrast, the Lake District is known for the high property values being next to the lovely Crystal Lake. The lake floods twice every year, submerging the specialized buildings on the northwestern edges of the lake and allowing people to live with an underwater view. This feature and its clear, calm waters with unique wildlife draw in a lot of tourists from other Imperial worlds.
9. Outskirts People who live in the Outskirts have, as Imperial law mandates, everything one would need for a stable life. But it is the most minimal version of what one would find compared to the Lake District or even the Dens. The lowest and poorest of the Imperial population usually reside here, but unlike other worlds where crime go hand-in-hand with low income, the Outskirts remain virtually crime free just like any other city district.
10. Highrise The Highrise is known for the grandiose houses and mansions. Many of which float gracefully in the air with entire lawns and gardens of their own. Whether on the ground or in the air, the housing here can easily cost a fortune. Which is why it is mainly home to the Sith and high ranking Imperials.
11. Tech The Tech District is the center for Imperial innovation, technology, and information gathering. In addition to all of the usual research and development one can expect, the Sphere of Imperial Intelligence also has multiple, obscure offices within this district to monitor holonet activity of the Empire’s citizens. Activity from this district has attracted some non-Imperial ventures and one can see sites such as the Czerka Tower.
12. Scarlet More formally known as Qoshrajakzândor, it was established when the planet was resettled as a sanctuary for the Red Sith. It remains the only district to be surrounded by physical barriers in the form of large, imposing walls. There is an entrance on each of its five sides, all with their own pair of giant mowhef statues. Officially, there are no laws that keeps non Red Sith out of the district, but it is still heavily implied within Imperial society that only Sith (and preferably only the Red Sith) can walk freely in and out of this near-sacred place.
13. Temple Sitting right next to the Scarlet District is the Temple District. It is the main burial site for most Sith and houses many cemeteries and tombs. There is also a somewhat hidden passageway in one of the large crypts that leads to Dark Temple on the island of Mognosk. Around the burial sites are temples used for funeral ceremonies from where the district gets its name.
14. Medical Hub While there are many adequate clinics throughout the city all of the major hospitals, rehabilitation centers, psych wards, and treatment facilities are located in this district. The medical facilities here are the absolute best in the entire Empire.
15. Garden The Garden District is a combination of a residential area mixed with a recreational one. Nearly all of the buildings here are covered or decorated in plant life in some way. Not only are there a bunch of parks and botanical gardens, but this district also has the highest number of cafes and tea houses within the city.
16. Fashion It could be said that the only reason this district even exists is due to the fact that the Sith are known to be ostentatious. That assumption would be correct. The Sith spend a lot of time and effort into their appearance and some of that has influenced Imperial culture as well. The result is the Fashion District which has anything and everything relating to fashion and beauty. Top designers, Imperial brand names, make up artists, hair stylists, and body augmenters all thrive in this district. The major fashion show are also held twice a year to highlight the newest trends.
17. Education Although there are many primary, secondary, and boarding schools all over the city, the Education District has the major universities and higher learning facilities. As confusing at it may be to outsiders, there is Dromund Kaas University (DKU) and Kaas City University (KCU). Both are considered top tier schools that produce the Empire’s best officers. Other institutes include Kaas Military Tech, Kaas Medical University, Dromund Kaas Law School, and Dromund Kaas Sith Academy.
18. Little Csilla When the Empire allied itself with the Ascendancy during the last war some of the Chiss began immigrating into the Empire. They settled on the outer edges of the Dens, converting it into its own distinct area over the years. Now its own proper district, Little Csilla offers Imperials a chance of authentic Chiss food, art, music, architecture, and culture within the heart of the Empire.
19. Entertainment There are many places within the Entertainment District that are be considered “family friendly”. These places are the amusement parks, sports stadiums, specialized movie theaters, race tracks, and zoos. But this district is also known for some of its more adult-oriented entertainment. There are many bars, clubs, and cantinas that dot the area around the various Pleasure Houses and fighting rings. Prostitution is legal and heavily regulated within the Empire and is one of the bigger revenues of tax. Likewise blood sports are also popular but are heavily regulated to the point where a Hutt would lose interest.
20. The Grotto After the Old Town began to fade this particular area became neglected and eventually became its own district over the years. It can be said that this is the the only seedy part of Kaas City. Imperial citizens cannot become homeless but the streets of the Grotto are filled with people. These are usually “discarded” slaves who loiter and wander around. It seems that this district only exists only because no one seems to care renovating a dying part of a city filled with alien slaves.
21. Business Major corporations and business of the Empire situate their headquarters within this district. In addition to the usual administrations the Business District sees a lot of the banking and finance as well. There are aspects of Imperial culture that encourage forming friendly bonds with ones compatriots, as such the Business District also has a fair number of Singing Rooms for social gathering between coworkers.
22. Historical Also referred to as The Old Town because, as the name suggests, it is one of the oldest parts of Kaas City. It was quickly developed when the fledgling Empire came to Dromund Kaas and used to cover a much greater area. Ore was mined from the nearby jungle to be refined and power was generated with the surrounding river and waterfall. These factors helped to create the first Imperial fleet as well as the other districts. However, overmining in the area made it almost unlivable by human standards and it took decades of cleaning and reconstruction to restore the district. These days it’s seen as a historical heritage site for Imperials and serves as an educational tourist attraction.
23. Industrial The Industrial District sprang up from the remnants of the Old Town. Once the area around the Old Town was depleted production moved and settled into what is now the Industrial District. Originally the district mainly had factories that processed the raw ore, but over time different plants and refineries were built. There are even some slaughterhouses for fish meat production and facilities for textile manufacturing. A lot of the work here goes into producing goods that can be used in other ways for the Empire.
24. Military This is the main area for military training on Dromund Kaas. There are other camps and bases all over the planet but the bulk of the operations and exercises are held within this district. Soldiers here aren’t just from the local area but from all over the Empire since military units are expected to undergo survival courses in differing terrains. Despite being a training ground for the Imperial military and navy there are small comforts for those who live there in the form of cozy, specialty diners.
25. Expansion Kaas City is old as the Empire itself and it’s still growing in size. With the war in recent years the city is in flux once again. Currently it is unclear what kind of new development the Expansion District will turn into. It’s mostly filled with half finished buildings and large constructions sites digging into the landscape.
heyyyy… it’s done!
so uh, in case it wasn’t obvious.
you can obvs live in any of the districts. and all of them have like supermarkets, banks, hospitals, schools, etc. it’s just that the names reflect what each district is best known for essentially.
7-10 are the residential districts which are basically like the different flavors of suburbs. you got middle class (7), rich hipsters (8), poor ppl (9), super rich and important (10).
i hc that you can be poor in the empire but you’ll never starve or be homeless. like you’ll always have food and a roof over your head, but if you’re poor it’s the bare fuckin basics man. tiny apt with like one room and ration bars kind of deal.
12, the mowhef statues are a heritage site which means tourist trap lol. bc they’re BIG and Special and sith related… so you have your flocks of imperials from DK or other planets coming by to take selfies and what not.
19, yes prostitution is legal. no it’s not looked down on. it’s treated like any other profession. and it’s not always about sex (tho it is most of the time). likewise the ones participating in blood sports are top tier athletes and not desperate slaves tossed into a pit (which i imagine is what hutts do). blood sports also involve animal fighting but like… pokemon style and not rl dog fights (if that makes any sense). also, is gambling legal? yea, but it’s super regulated like everything else and your winnings will get taxed xD
20, “discarded” slaves are basically the ones who’s master died but also forgot to specify what happened to them. these ppl also have kids which are born into the state of poverty and homelessness.
24, i’m just saying there’s prob small mom and pop diners that serve ziosti comfort food.
25, idk man. i think this was in the game and it had a bunch of angry droids and def looked half finished so…
The Jedi classes and having the weight of the entire galaxy rest in your frail, small hands, and everyone turning to you for any answer, even when you never asked for this, but if you won't save them, who will?
The Sith classes and getting fucked over and over and over again and being stepped on and blamed for things out of your control, forcing you to become the bigger dog in any way possible just so everyone else will leave you the fuck alone
Consular vs Inquisitor and being a symbol to something that was never your fight in the first place. Warrior vs Knight and being sent as a living weapon to every corner of the galaxy.
Bounty Hunter vs Smuggler and getting wrapped up in a fight that was never your own, forces bigger than you forcing it to become personal just because you were the one there. Trooper vs Agent and laying your life and honour bare for a system that would betray you as soon as it's done using you.
I might be going insane.
Kaasi Koi
The Kaasi Koi (Drokaas carpio decorus) is a species of domesticated fish held in high regard among the native Sith and Imperials of Dromund Kaas for their elegance and colorful patterns.
Their wild brethren, the common kaasi carp (Drokaas carpio riparus), are mostly found on the continent of Shikat Sahlaj.
They were first noticed during the resettlement era when the western half of the continent was converted to farmland to produce food for the new Empire. It was in the rivers that flowed near these paddy fields that the carp called home.
Some of the carp eventually found their way into the wet fields and they were caught as a source of food. Over time some of the farmers noticed odd colors or patterns in the fish and decided to breed them.
Through centuries of selective breeding the kaasi koi have grown larger with a wide variety of colors and patterns compared to their dull, wild counterparts.
Like all fish native to Dromund Kaas these koi have four eyes that help them see in a wider range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Their fins and tendrils have been elongated with some breeds sporting distinct shapes for their tails. The colors of the eyes, scales, and fins are all drastically more varied and colorful with certain combinations being distinguished as specific breeds.
There are currently over 100 breeds of kaasi koi with some individual fish being sold for millions of credits.
The annual kaasi koi show brings together the best breeders showing off their most prized specimens. These shows often draw in a large crowd of Sith and high ranking officers who are looking to expand their personal koi collections. It is said that one particular koi was bought by Darth Vowrawn for the koi’s solid black coloring with only small individual scales shimmering in silver that formed a star chart of the Empire.
Owning and showing off kaasi koi have become a status symbol within the Empire. While one can find cheaper varieties throughout the many Imperial worlds, the real kaasi koi are only found on Dromund Kaas and usually with the high standing social groups.
Having a small pond, lake, or stream on the property is the most common way to keep and house these fish. But there are some who have elaborate floating rivers built in or around their residence so that the fish may be viewed in midair.
ever have youtube suggest something kinda random and go, “hmm… that’s cool and interesting. i feel like i knew this on some lvl.” and then you waste your evening coloring the same stupid fish?
….yea. anyway.
no i didn’t feel like changing any of the fin shapes or whatever bc i’m lazy af no those aren’t the only colors and patterns for the fish but i’m lazy af yes the ones shown have names, they are: wild (and technically a carp and not a koi lol) night, red star, pride dark ruby, soft spots, sunrise golden, richback, brass dusk spot, royal, mottle albino
like i said, tons more color patterns and what not. use your imagination lol.
i know anti grav in star wars is DEF a thing but like ones specific for water is prob a thing…? so i’m gonna say it is. (and yes, after the fish i gave up as evidenced by my stick doodles lol)
but i imagine fancy restaurants or event venues having these fairly large, floating orbs of water (or a hoop) with these fish just elegantly swimming by.
Flora of Korriban
While I was quickly making this yesterday, I decided to do separate post for the plants and animals of the planet since it would’ve gotten too long other wise.
I will link some pics in the list…. please work with me and use your imaginations people! The colors I will assign to them might be different than what’s shown. >,>
Now! For some quick, basic, real world science! Most of the plants on planet Earth are green in color due to them using chlorophyll for the process of photosynthesis. Chlorophyll absorbs the violet and red ends of the visible light spectrum, meaning the green shades are bounced back, and that’s the color we perceive in plants.
However, this is not the only photosynthetic compound. It just happened to be the most predominant one that evolved on our planet. Another example would be carotenoids, found in things such as… well… carrots .
Plants with carotenoids give off orange-red shades since they absorb more of that green light.
So! It makes sense to me, that plants on alien worlds, would adapt other compounds, giving them different colors than our own Earthly greens.
This is why in my personal headcanon the plants on Korriban were fairly multicolored. Onto the list!
Over 93% of Korriban’s native plant life have been lost over the millennia. Luckily, few were preserved in various botanical gardens, greenhouses, and farms across the Empire. The plants that managed to persist are still used as food, medicine, decoration, and other uses the ancient Sith had for them.
Some of the preserved Korriban plants are:
Bloodflower. A rare, beautiful flower with black petals and gold colored stems and leaves.
Sh’ael. A favored fruit, deep green in color, among the Sith. Usually sliced and dried before consumption, has a tart taste.
Mekzis. A blue-leafed tree that used to be found near rivers and shrublands. Currently in botanical preserves, may be used as decoration among wealthy Sith.
Worich. A seed pod that’s ground into a fine black powder. Used for applying decorative patterns on skin or as a dye for cloth.
Druun. A short, leafy grass that grew around bodies of water. Violet in color, used for herbal teas.
Tumaa. A prickly, golden vegetable. Commonly used in cooking.
Felblossom. Another flower, not quite as rare as the bloodflower. Light lavender to dark violet with red leaf and stems. Preferred hanging house plants of Sith since it emits a scent that is pleasing to them or used in teas.
Roshal. A bright pink, berry-like fruit. Often dried and ground into spices. Also name of the purple-ish colored flower that grows with the fruits.
Korberry. A tough, turquoise berry with a yellow pulpy interior. The pulp is very sweet in flavor, used as sweeteners in cuisines. The skin is rather bitter, but dried and used for herbal medicines.
Ischorl. The roots of this plant are very bitter, but has healing properties. Used for herbal medicines and teas.
Parodz. A bright blue fruit. Often used as jams or turned into juice.
Nindzu. A violet shrub with entwining leaves. Grew in the plains and shrub lands. Used as a pest deterrent, and the fruits of the plants were used as spices.
Jenstem. The scarlet leaves and small buds are poisonous to humans. The large black bulb can be consumed by Sith and humans alike, supposedly having a buttery taste.
Ntiis. Pod shaped blue peppers with orange leaves. Used for cooking and seasoning. Humans find it unbearable spicy.
Sotyuk. A decorative house flower. Can be blue, turquoise, or purple.
Most likely, there are other plants claimed and protected by the Imperial Botanical Preservation Society. But these are just the ones most common and widely known through the Empire.
Fauna of Dromund Kaas
Keep in mind that this is a short, incomplete list since the complete biodiversity “checklist” of any given planet would be very difficult to record.
Animals are very important to a setting, society, and culture. Star Wars has some iconic critters, but for a GALAXY the zoological department is a bit lacking. (IMHO) Some are canon, some are made up (literally on the fly) by yours truly.
Fair warning: I am not an art person. ;-; Things are uneven, plain, and lumpy…
Jurgoran: Large, carnivorous amphibians that were at the top of the food chain. Only rivaled by the gundark, however, both species were limited to the swamps and marshes. The people of DK probably viewed this animal similarly to how lions and tigers are viewed. Possibly used as imagery and symbols among the Sith and Imperials alike for ferocity.
Yozusk: Not sure whether this is a reptile, insect, or whatever. But it’s a terrestrial, predatory animal that’s common throughout DK. The people probably viewed this animal like a coyote or wolves, a possible nuisance you can hunt and kill.
Sleen: Omnivorous reptiles. Seen as pests, some variations are domesticated for pets and mounts.
Vine Cat: Carnivorous repto-mammals. Originally from Ziost. Many different species. Used for leather.
Swamp Wampa: Carnivorous mammals, related to the common ice wampas found on Hoth. Different coloring and lighter coat. Can be used as a fancy rug.
Mailoc: Predatory insects(?). Lacks legs, always flying around. Swarms and attacks. Call exterminator.
Gundark: Fierce, large, hot tempered, predatory mammals. Top of the food chain, rivaled by the Jurgoran, but again, limited to swamps and marshes. Considered semi-sentient. Probably seen like the “gorillas” of DK as in they are one of the large, humanoid, charismatic megafauna.
Plesine: Also called “plessy/plessies” (like dog>doggy/doggies, cat>kitty/kitties, etc) These are large omnivorous, aquatic reptiles. Various species found throughout DK, out in the oceans, in rivers and swamps, just everywhere. Domesticated early on after the resettlement of DK, used as “water horses”. You see a lot of them pulling small river boats in The Old Town for tourists and couples on vacation. Some of the fancier breeds are held in high regard by Sith, much like how the real life equestrian world is usually for the wealthy. ~Alien water horse dressage.~ Plesines also mate and bond for life, making them a common symbol for love.
Flutterfish: Flying fish also commonly called “flish”. These are like the opposite seals/penguins. The flish will fly and flutter about out of the water, but need to dive back down to take a breath once in a while. Only found out in the wide expanses of DK’s oceans, there are many different species coming in all sorts of colors, patterns, and sizes. The larger, predatory ones can be an annoyance to the fish farmers hence why some of the smaller livestock are kept in pods.
Silkra: Beautiful, gentle giants of the oceans. It is considered good luck to see one. The long, colorful fins and the way it swims invokes the image of a flowing silk ribbon, hence the name.
Bobe: One of the most common types of farmed fish. Think of them as “cows of the sea”. Easy to breed and maintain, bobes provide for a good bulk of the fish meat on DK.
Kranawl: An aquatic, predatory reptile that lurks near the coastlines of DK. Since they congregate around the estuaries and deltas and away from the inland swamps, they generally do not compete with gundarks or jurgorans. Kranawls lie in the water and wait to ambush their prey. Their bite possesses enough strength to bend durasteel beams.
Terrormaw: These are pack hunting fish that roam the oceans. Their name comes from the fact that they have a second pair of jaws inside their mouth. The horizontal stripes along the body are bioluminescent and light up to signal others in the pack. “Alien water wolves”.
Akkfish: Named after the loyal akk dogs on land, these are domesticated, carnivorous fish that are highly intelligent and obedient. Used to corral, herd, and protect the bobes and other livestock fish. They have a tough, bony armor plating on the head and back to help them defend against other attackers. “Alien water dogs”.
Slysor: A small, vibrant amphibian. These creatures lurk around the undergrowth and on the trees in the swamps. They’re slimy, smells funny, and generally unpleasant. They have tiny needle-like teeth that inject venom, which is said to be painful but rarely lethal. The wings are useless for flying, but are mainly used as warnings signs. It is said that a certain Sith in DK’s jungles extracted and modified slysor venom into something much more potent and unpleasant.
Gerox: A small mammal that lives in the undergrowth of the jungles. Feeds on nectar with its long, proboscis tongue. About the size of a greyhoud, some of the local Imperials have taken up breeding and racing gerox for sport and gambling. Gerox are very quick, nimble, and agile. They can run, hop, bounce, all around the jungles with ease, avoiding the jaws of a kawnawl or the claws of a gundark.
Morrisk: Brightly colored and patterned, these are opportunistic scavengers and will eat almost anything. Used as cleaners around the fish farms and some aquariums.
Disun: Another commonly farmed fish. The roe of disun is commonly turned into caviar. “Sea chickens”
Hehu: Funny looking little fish. Commonly kept as pets by the Nautolans. Not the brightest of animals. “Alien water cats”… but dumber lol.
Eol: The much, much smaller and common relative of the Silkra. Farmed for meat. Prettier breeds and variations are for aquariums. Ugly, plain ones are for food.
With a distinctive local wildlife, there are some common saying on DK.
…Fierce as a jurgoran… Self explanatory saying.
…Strong enough to pull the ears off a gundark… The individual looks very strong and healthy.
…Shifty as a vine cat eying a sleen… You look suspicious fam, what did you do?
…Bonded like a pair of plessies… The couple is inseparable and disgustingly in love.
…Patient as a kranawl… The person is super calm, collected, and can wait forever.
…Looking a terrormaw in the mouth… Wanting to know or find out something, even though it might not be the best idea.
…Would rather kiss a slysor… Literally willing to do anything else than what you just asked.
…Galloping like a gerox… The person referred to as the gerox in this context is graceful, poised, and beautiful.
…Like an akkfish corralling bobes… All the excitement, but has a sense of control and clarity.
…Eats like a morrisk… Y’all just shoving all the food down your face hole.
…With the face of a hehu… A blank, dumbfounded face. Like they don’t know what’s going on.
