Well kept, somewhat small and appears as ordinary as any other if you take away the fact that Ben is literally allergic to colour. FACTION: Unknown at this point PERSONALITY: Ben is...complicated. By day, when donning the mask of Father Libideu, he is seen as calm and composed. Often encourages people to think for themselves and find their own meaning, and naturally takes on a parental/guide-like role to those who attend Church. At times he can come off as overly genuine, almost to the point where those with observant eyes might feel that Ben is playing a role and harbors ulterior motives. Has a tendency to be preoccupied with impressions, as implied by the fact he goes great lengths to hide his alcoholism and is focused on his expressions, tonality, among other things. Can be somewhat cruel and cynical even. Moody, but will usually be subtle about it. Lecherous may be another good word to describe Ben as well. BACKSTORY: Most of Ben’s backstory is obscured, although if you were to ask him his origins he’d claim to be born in the state of Idaho to a modest family of farmers. Ben would relocate to Consequence Point in the late 90s/early 2000s where he has since taken up a position at the local church. Keep in mind that this is what Ben will exclaim when asked; but whether or not there is any truth at all to his sentiments is another question altogether. The truth of the matter is--Ben’s story is long, complicated, and quite frankly a subject that warrants aversion from the priest himself. CLIFFNOTES TIME cus his backstory is wayyy too long: TW FOR DRUGS/CSA MENT - Father was apart of a secret society of monster hunters, was killed in combat when Ben was 7 - Mother relocated herself and Ben to her family's farm in Idaho, where Ben was often left to his own devices and essentially winds up being horrifically assaulted - Return to city, and at age 17 Ben is drafted into WWI where he spends a year / year and a half in the trenches - Comes back to the states, diagnosed with war neurosis and subsequently spends a year in an asylum - Upon release he becomes involved with some childhood friends who all became petty criminals/bootleggers, Ben becomes involved and is arrested - Spends most of his 20s either completely blackout drunk or high, has a ton of adult relations (TW drugs/alcohol) - Mother falls ill with tuberculosis, so Ben goes back to his family's farm in Idaho and ends up coming back to the city for a third time - Found by Father Dubois, an affiliate of his dad's, proceeds to spend 8 years regaining sobriety and training to be a priest - 1935, falls ill with tuberculosis and ends up on his death bed when he meets the angel Beliel, promises his soul to the angel in return for extended life - Proceeds to spend the next 60 years wandering, settles in Consequence along the way where he's since remained REPUTATION: Known as being a long-legged Priest at the Church of Consequence Point. Not as well known as Father Felis, but will help anyone in need. He has an uncanny way of assuring even the most questioning people. If one looks closely they might feel uncomfortable with Ben / Father Libideu, as if it is all an act. TRIVIA: + Gemini, born in late May (May 27th). + A master to Bell (Beliel), so long as Ben provides a soul each year he is offered an extended life although this is clearly a delusion of Ben’s as he is highly paranoid of contracting tuberculosis again. + Rumored to have a daughter named Suzy, although she doesn’t live with Ben.
