Npd culture is realizing I don't need people around me constantly or I'll go insane and spiral into depression because I'm an extrovert it's because I'm a narc and I need supply.
A lot of pop psychology gets thrown around and since I already have a headache, here's preventing you lot from making it worse.
Love-bombing: A manipulation tactic of increasing affection and grand gestures before or after doing something abusive, specifically to weasel one's way out of consequences.
What it is not: A streak of affection and generosity towards friends/loved ones.
Trauma-bonding: Knowingly traumatizing someone to take advantage of their vulnerable state, to then act like the "hero" or the one who cheers them up.
What it is not: Bonding over similar traumas.
Gaslighting: *Knowingly* convincing someone they cannot trust their own perception of a situation in pursuit of one's own narrative.
What it is not: Misaligned perception of events.
Narcissist: Someone afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a traumagenic cluster B disorder, that struggles with self-obsession, paranoia, craving validity from the public, delusions of grandeur, and social disconnection.
It is not: Your rubbish ex that cheated on you.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

when i say "it's my fault", i feel rather detached from the words. i don't think i fully believe anything can be my fault. it's either the other person's fault or no one's.
npd culture is i hate myself but idc i still think that im better than you
.
Here are ways in which NPD can be a genuinely debilitating condition:
- Not being able to pick up new skills and hobbies since we can't cope with not being instantly good at something.
- Not being able to put in efforts towards obtaining the things we want since entitlement makes not having those things handed to us distressing.
- Not being able to keep a job if that work environment involves receiving frequent criticism.
- Not being able to engage in competitions since the possibility of losing is too much of a risk to the ego.
- Having to isolate from others due to envy being triggered and resenting other people's success.
- Social withdrawal from feeling like no one could ever understand us as a consequence of feeling special and unique and that we can only be understood by equally special individuals.
- Breaking off relationships suddenly due to a sudden fear of being mocked due to association with the person.
- Avoiding people in front of which perceived humilation was suffered.
You are welcome to reblog and add your own ways in which NPD has negatively impacted your life.
Absolutely hit hard with all of these. Also not being able to enjoy having social media accounts cuz lack of perceived popularity can be distressing.
cluster b culture is why can’t i be somebody’s fp for once!! i want somebody to become a little obsessed with me!
.
I wish tumblr wasn’t dead so I could actively enjoy using this blog like I used to.
the tag is better now but i remember an era where the aro tag was like. Full of posts that all said "to the aro reading this you aren't a cold unfeeling narcissist" and every time without fail i was like. yes i am why are you lying to me. so shout out to the aro reading this who IS a cold unfeeling narcissist we are the strongest link
people with low/no empathy can be:
good people
good friends
compassionate/sympathetic
kind
successful
abused, manipulated, and hurt
emotional
do not define us by our ability to feel empathy. we are so much more than our empathy levels.
remember that your intrusive thoughts are called intrusive for a reason.
- having disturbing intrusive thoughts does not make you a bad person.
- your intrusive thoughts do not define you.
- even if it feels bad, intrusive thoughts about hurting others does not make you inherently violent or dangerous.
Oh and one more question. How do you feel about empaths?
I’m not really sure empaths are real, but I also admittedly have a hard time thinking outside of my own perspective. Any form of caring immensely about a person over you however, I think is rather silly on their end, and I simply cannot comprehend it.
Hi there. I was wondering if you ever choose who you are going to make obsessed with you? If so, what are the criteria? And how do you do it?
Honestly, I usually don’t. Just if I see somebody is beginning to, I encourage them further, however I have not acted on these feelings in a long time. As great as the attention may be, it is overall too exhausting and not good for my mental health, even though the praise gives me such a high. Hope that helps answer your questions.
Right... this is loaded and so I’m sorry if this is not the right place to ask but,
I think I have npd and I do not know what I should do. I am already diagnosed with ASD but I am scared to go to a therapist because they think npd is evil. I used to think so also because my partner has it and every blog post attempted to convince me it was but spending time with him as a person is.... okay. He can do some shitty things but overall, not the monster he was built up to be. But the ONLY reason I think I may have it is because since I was young I’ve been traumatized by my emotionally neglected and abusive parents and turned to fiction, becoming a writer who made a huge and intense world in my head. And... idk i suppose at one point I decided that I am better than them and anyone else who has mistreated me and that I am a ✨Queen✨ so I imagine myself a certain way. At the same time however, I will then cross a mirror and actually see myself and feel really insecure as if the inside and outside do not match. Then now I have grown older, I am kind of slightly experiencing delusions of grandeur and it is WEIRD. But most therapists I’ve heard are ableist so I and understandably confused and want to scream ☺️
I’ve also had bad relationships with therapy unfortunately, so I understand your struggles and frustrations. I hope you have found healthy outlets for these struggles. But yes, I’ve also felt similar with feeling godly yet looking in the mirror and feeling it does not match how I see myself. I think a lot of people with npd can relate.
Healthy coping mechanisms for npd??
What’s been working for me lately is healthy alone time and exercise. Any form of strength I feel, whether that be physical or mental, makes me more obligated to combat these feelings I have, and feel more mellow. I suggest similar for others who feel similarly as I do, but of course, every individual has their own form of healthy coping mechanisms.
We fought, and I managed to make her cry and get out of my sight. I'm still spiteful and they told me that she continues to speak bad of me, I plan to go and hit her. I don't know how to control this, I want to make her understand that I am much better and she should be afraid of me. I fucking hate being this way, but if I don't I will never feel happy and satisfied with myself.
Don’t allow yourself to be demonized, including some of the angry thoughts and violence you may feel. There are healthy distractions, as hard as they may be to find, everyone has something. I hope by the time I write this, you have found some peace with this struggle.
I feel very identified with npd, but I cannot get a proper diagnosis, I have had problems with my own psychologist but I have to pay and I really don't want to wait that long for that shit. the only thing I have left is that I enjoy and feel understood with your posts about npd, thank you ;)
I thank you as well for telling me so. Hopefully people like you and I can be truly understood and helped one day.
