Headcanon: Abilities & Quirks

Quick Healer - Injuries Ellie sustains heal quicker than normal people’s. Deep cuts that would take others a week to heal would heal in around three days for her. However, healing faster takes a lot more energy out of her. She gets a lot more tired, hungry, and thirsty when she’s recovering, but her recovery is considerably faster.

Strength and Endurance - Despite how she looks, her strength is nothing to sneeze at. She can lift heavy objects with ease, especially when she feels like she’s in a pinch. Ellie’s endurance is also high, boasting high stamina and taking a lot longer for exhaustion to take hold. It also takes a lot more than a few hits to knock her down, and something as superficial as taking a punch would heal rapidly for her.

Creation - While she can’t create objects out of thin air like her connected deity Arceus can, she shows great proficiency when it comes to creation based skills. Cooking food, creating art or music, gardening, etc. Despite not having done a majority of those skills in her life, she has a feel for them all thanks to her connection to Arceus.

Divinity - There’s an unmistakable, ethereal air around Ellie. While her blood isn’t purely golden ichor like Arceus, there are flecks of gold strewn within it. Those who can see aura will notice hers in particular is blindingly bright and golden, feeling angelic in nature. Unbeknownst to her she can make this visible to even normal people without aura prowess. In general, she has an eerily similar vibe to Arceus, minus the radiating malice and slight tarnished sheen to his own aura.

In the winter and fall, all of the berries Ellie grows are of the extremely spicy variety like tomato or tanga, or of the dry variety like chilan or chesto. These berries are more resilient to the colder temperatures of Sinnoh, and either generate their own heat, or are hardy enough to grow regardless of the temperature and sunlight.

In spring and summer, she can grow a much wider variety of berries, including the ones that are more sensitive and require specific care. Her business usually booms a lot more in these seasons since she has more to offer.

She’s considering trying to make extremely spicy variants of existing berries, basically trying to make them blisteringly hot since people, for some reason, enjoy punishing themselves with insanely hot foods. Ellie knows there’s a market for it, and also that some pokemon like their berries very spicy, it’s just a matter of actually trying to make it happen.

Ellie makes a lot of her own food, sourced from the berries she grows. Whatever she doesn’t sell is either cooked down into poffins to sell just to extend the use of the berries, or made into meals for herself. Ellie generally makes things like berry salads or soups since they’re the easiest things for her to cook outdoors and require little external appliances. If she does spend time at someone’s house, she can make things like smoothies, pies, breads, and other pastries, along with sauteing them with meat and turning them into more savory dishes.

Living outdoors does limit her just a bit on what she can make, and she’s usually really grateful when she gets the chance to use actual appliances. In general, her diet leans more on the vegetarian end out of necessity more than choice, simply because she has no way of storing meat and it would just go bad. Still, she does eat meat if she gets the chance to, such as ordering from a restaurant.
