     APPARENTLY, they’ve all been tossed into this mess without much of a clue. 

     Going from one hellish world to the next doesn’t make him feel any better. “So you’re just as powerless. I was wondering whether you really were incapable of getting up the stairs on your own or not. You’re standing now, aren’t you?“

      “Look, it’s not about whether I’m capable or not.. It’s about the safety of doing so-- okay, fine.” Hakutaku can compromise.. probably. That’s not to say it’ll be a good compromise, but. Still.

    “You don’t have to carry me.. But you go ahead first to test it out, then I’ll follow. I might be powerless here, but I’m still a divine beast, you know.”

     JUST… APPEARED? The likelihood seems low, but around here far too many doubts become this new, lackluster reality. Disbelief etches into tan features, twisted by past indecision and the courage to bother with a question he’d rather not ask. 

     ”Does that mean you know how to conveniently leave here, too?” Consider the point about any sanctified deities made disregarded completely.

        “Don’t I wish.” It’s less of a question (because this boy asks enough for the both of them) and more of a bitter statement. He’s a celestial being, a heavenly person. He doesn’t belong in a place like this, powerless.

      “Even if I could, I don’t know where you’re from, anyway. That’s what you were really wondering, right? If I could help you out? Sooorry.”

     HE’S BARELY getting back from another day out adjusting, and now this?

     Better hope this isn’t another part of his challenge – his prophecy didn’t say anything about six foot boys with elegant faces asking such ridiculous things of him. “I don’t even know your name– can’t you walk just fine?”

        “No, I just appeared here conveniently,” he lies, without any actual indication that it’s a lie. With the way things work around here, it might as well be believable anyway and... well, he knows he shouldn’t be lying to teenage boys, but it’s not his fault if they’re gullible, is it?

        “You know, the Gods smile more fondly upon those who help others without asking questions.”

        Well. How convenient that he’d arrive near the steps at the same time as his... roommate? He assumes so.

        “Hey, those steps look pretty dangerous, don’t they? Say, why don’t you carry me up them?”
