RIMINICOMIX SHOOTING GUIDE
Just want to share my experience shooting on this event for the past few years and help both cosplayers and photographers to have awesome photos!!
What I really like about Riminicomix is a 4 days convention, most of the cosplayers and photographers stay in the city so it possibile to organize well when to shoot. I reccomend to shoot around morning until 11am and resume in the afternoon when the lights are the best and night if you have flashes.
6/7 AM when the sunrise is still soft
| Golden Hour. Notice soft beautiful wam tones, this is around past 6 - 8 pm. The beach will be so crowded by this time so it will be hard to shoot wide shots,.
WHERE TO SHOOT?
Being a convention in an open city. Rimini offers alot of awesome locations to shoot.
PORT AREA / FERRISWHEEL
Late afternoon to Golden Hour is the best time to shoot with natural light. Just ask your models turn 3/4 or away from the sun to have a nice rim light or backlight. ALSO TO AVOID THEM SQUINTING . (= 3 =) looking like this.
play with the shadows too in your composition.
TIP: YOU CAN USE CPL filter to make you sky and sea more blue <3
This is shot with natural light around afternoon as the sand acts like a huge reflector which give this soft light (this will be better if you have a real reflector). Place you model in the shadow under the umbrella or any source of shadow and expose on the model. As a result the background will be blown and have this pastel feel on the photo.
HOTEL ROOM / LOBBY / POOL
If you are lucky and have a hotel and a pool, it is a great location to shoot. Just ask permission first, mostly they allow it if you are staying there or your model.
GRAND HOTEL (dream location)
If you are into Disney I strongly suggest to participate to the Gran Gala
where you can use the grounds of the Grand Hotel for photos.
RANDOM ALLEYWAYS & LOCATIONS
Don’t limit yourself where everyone is shooting, sometimes an intersting staircase, a door of a hotel will be a nice location to shoot in. Try to look around when you have free time if you already know what cosplay to shoot with...
Just dont take too much time and block the way (ASK PERMISSION. or just guerilla shoot like me shoot fast and go. /LOL)
LASTLY STAY HYDRATED & ENJOY!!
Drink alot cause it is freaking hot during the noon.
Also to avoid having chappy lips on the photos. And do use deodorant,, no one wants to see sweaty armpits on the photos.
