Also bc im such a gigantic Rikki/emma shipper its making me think about Jackie/Melissa and now I feel galaxy brain šš like Melissa would have way more fun giving Jackie shit occasionally and they could have fun banterā¦ meanwhile Shauna is standing by quietly losing her mind diskjdkwjfjejeh anyways Melissa calling Jackie āprincessā do you mind if I exit

the three of them werenāt even supposed to end up on the island. they were meant to be out on lottieās boat (well, mr. matthewsā, technically) for an afternoon cruise, a little celebration after winning regionals & qualifying for nationals. a few jv girls had tagged along (hence, melissa) and the day itself couldnāt have been better. until the engine of melās boat stalled on the way back, leaving them stranded just off mako island. she pointed out they could dock and check the motor from shore. so they did and, while waiting, wandered off. thatās how jackie found the moon poolā¦
or: healing my inner childā¦let me have my mermaid moment with this guys!!
SHAUNA SHIPMAN āĖā” cleo
shauna keeps it to herself the longest. itās not that sheās any better at hiding it, if anything, sheās the worst liarā¦(definitely writes about it in her journal, too!!) but the rational part of her just refuses to believe itās real.
her first signs arenāt as dramatic (meaning no tail incident), itās mostly water, acting strange: the morning after, at the sink, shauna reaches for the faucet, and the stream bends, curving away from her hand. she flinches, and it snaps back.
it takes three full tail incidents (one in her bathtub, one at the harbor, and one in the locker room where jackie has to block the door) for shauna to finally admit: āokay. yeah. so i think iām a mermaid too.ā
hydrokinesis ā the ability to control the shape & volume of water. shauna is secretly practicing her powers in the tub and the pond in the park, to avoid incidents like the one time she accidentally made the water in her momās flower vase swirl into a spiral when she got distracted watching jackie eat a popsicleā¦
JACKIE TAYLOR āĖā” emma
jackie is, for once, the unlucky one. her first transformation happens right before jeff is supposed to come over. sheās in her bathrobe, mid-prep for one of her āeverything-showersā sheās decided make her irresistible (comphet jackie taylor, you are real to me in every universeā¦) when she dips a toe into the water to test the temperature.Ā
the contact is all it takes. water hits her skin & she changes. jackieās legs fuse together, and her body slumps into the tub. she screams once, then slaps a hand over her mouth in shock. gripping the tubās edge, sheās sobbing, terrified, and somehow furious that it had to happen today of all days (omg jackie who transforms the day she was planning to āfinallyā lose her virginityā¦?? fate stepped in!!)
when jeff calls to say heās out front, jackie, still stunned, chokes out: āuhm- i canāt hang out! iām...sick. likeā¦puking sick! go home.ā then she hangs up and stares down at her new tail.
cryokinesis ā the ability to freeze water & create ice (the concept of this being jackieās powerā¦.). in the beginning, jackie canāt stop accidentally freezing things. she ruins several sinks and refuses to drink anything cold, afraid it might freeze in her throat. sheās definitely the most frustrated with her lack of control.
MELISSA HAT āĖā” rikki
melissa is the first to admit it not only to herself (which, frankly, is hard to deny when her legs turn into a full-blown tail the second she touches water), but out loud: āokay, donāt freak, but i think iām a goddamn mermaid.ā
she says this to gen, obviously. gen: her best friend, and more importantly, the only person she trusts enough to show what happens when she pours water down her arm. to be fair, gen does freak out a little. āoh my god, do it again!ā she shrieks ācan you, like, breathe underwater now?!ā
melissa tries to play it cool, as if she hasnāt been spiraling for 48 hours straight & didnāt scream the first time it happened, slipping into her pool and nearly passing out from shock. as if sheās not lowkey in love with both shauna & jackie, losing her mind about it more and more every time they mention weird water stuffā¦
hydro thermokinesis ā the ability to heat & boil water. it starts with bathwater, then escalates to a full bottle she forgets sheās holding during an argument with shauna, which explodes in her grip. melissa is surprisingly cautious, though, taking time to practice and gain control.
I just listened to this song and i had to make ASH AND EMMA ON THE "I TREAT HIM LIKE HE DISGUSTING" bc fr. So yeah whatever this is imma post it bc i literally dont have anything else to do.. And yes this shit dont make any sense!!!!! But i was bored and shii
Whenever I hear snow on the beach by Taylor Swift I picture Emma after her first solo moon spell while travelling with her family. She wakes up lying on some beach completely alone and itās barely light out. She doesnāt really know where she is or what she did, and she sits up and wraps her arms around her knees. Her loneliness is so strong that snow starts to fall gently all around her and she wonders how her friends are back home.

anyway as a proud citizen of hater nation i am how you say. apprehensive at best about possible new h2o content in the year of our lord 2024. season 3 was a dumpster fire and i really could have done without mako mermaids' implication of h2o lore, not to mention rikki's character assassination. like for me personally i don't consider anything post-h2o season 2 canon. i have little faith that any continuation of the og series will be even close to the same standard as the first two seasons, especially given how reboots and continuations of beloved media in recent years have panned out. would love to be wrong but alas i have never been wrong about anything ever in my life š
im so worried about it but im also like. clawing at the door of the writer's room and asking them to make rikma at least semi-canon in the "reboot" or whatever it is if it's anything. like LET ME IN. it's ok if the show sucks just give me my closure..... my Validation....... j shiff........
