Project #4
I decided to make a time lapse of me working on my final project. Over this quarantine I have had to adjust a lot of things in my life but it hasn’t been all bad. Ive actually had time to focus on creating art and finding new styles of art I like doing. I just recently starting creating dot work drawings and have found it so therapeutic so I thought it would be cool to show the process of working with a bunch of small little dots to create this. I really enjoyed being able to have a free pick art project for this assignment.
Overall, I really enjoyed this class and feel like I learned so much about art and the types of art that I want to work with. Before this class, I didn’t know how to make any time of video art and now I am incorporating video editing with my other forms of art I like doing.

THE ART ASSIGNMENT FINAL PROJECT
The chose the flyer assignment because I liked the idea of the commercial application of art. I chose to do a missing person flyer for my old self. As I've gotten older I kind of lost my lust for life. When I was younger I was eager to be outside and experience life, I was game for anything. Now in my young adulthood I'm very reserved and am too “busy” to do what I like to do for the most part, I'm cooped up in my room and only go outside to work. Im tired of it. For the assignment I dug up an old photo of where I was truly happy and made flyers out of it. I took these flyers and posted them in my old neighborhood where I grew up on the community bulletin board. I hope this assignment is the catalyst for me becoming my full self again.
PROJECT 3
People says you're crazy if you talk to yourself but are you crazy if you're talking to someone who is no longer in the physical world? With my performance I wanted to show we’re never really able to fully let go and that's not a bad thing. Those who left us behind aren't just memories, I encourage you relive moments or have conversations with those who are no longer with you physically because only their body is gone, their soul is forever with you.

EMOTIONAL ORANGES 10/7 boulder, CO
This concert was one of my life's highlights. I had recently discovered some new music and absolutely loved what I heard. So much so, after 2 days of listening I bought 2 tickets to a concert. At the time I had a lot going on in my life so i was looking forward to this concert. I take an hour drive to my girlfriends house and got ready for another hour drive to the venue. On the way I “prepare” for the show”. we arrive. see the opener chiiild and he was great but I was there for EO. Finally they ease their way onto stage W/ lights and smoke and preceded to play all my favorite songs. in the midst of all this, a kind gentleman and his friend bought me drink, for I had “forgotten my ID in the car” ;) The show was perfect, it ended W/ me wishing it never did. And I left W/ some merch too. I share this story to say, go out and see ur favorite artists perform, I promise its worth it.
I highly recommend EMOTIONAL ORANGES, here's a link

Project #2.
For this video, I mostly just wanted to capture the simplicity, sweetness and beauty of the things we do everyday. The main person in the video is my best friend, and the neighborhood is the one we grew up in. There is this contrast between then and now, and who we have become. I tried to capture the desire to leave and go away, yet we always come back home. I tried to take this place, where we were children, and add things that make us more adult; cooking, playboys, cannabis, and cigarettes. Through the whole filming of it, we just had fun and tried to look at our normal day activities through a more creative lens. It captures the feeling of growing up and getting older, yet the love and childlike wonder stays the same. It was a really beautiful experience, because I filmed this without a real idea of a theme or narrative in mind, yet it unfolded in the best way.

Reading #3
Up until reading this text I always thought performance art was a popular medium. Turns out it popularity was in waves. Roselee Goldberg highlights the fact that it took a long time for performance art to be accepted the way it is today.
It makes sense when I think about because it’s not always meant to entertain. Art is often used to criticize or highlight something “wrong” in the world, and anytime that happens, the powers that be will try to shut it down. It reminds me of N.W.A.
I think as time goes on performance art will always will be met with some kind of obstacle. My only question after reading this piece is, will performance art rise in popularity to the point where it becomes as common as music or film
Artist Statement #2: I feel like i’m at peace when i’m experiencing nostalgia, almost like a high. I’m always in pursuit of it, this piece of video art is me chasing it. Godspeed by Frank Ocean always gives me that feeling and brings back so many memories. This video matching the song is me attempting to visualize that feeling.
