Just finished Yumi’s Cell Season 3. I didn’t watch other seasons because:
1. Not interested with the male leads
2. I’m only interested in happy endings and happily ever after.
3. The reasons above of course make the other 2 seasons seem “not important” for me.
Due to the short 8-episodes, I already expected that it will have some unfinished business or other plot that may be interesting for further exploration. But all in all, I believe that it is actually quite sufficient to end the series. The male lead is cute and Yumi finally found the one to spend her life with. After reading reviews and recaps of the previous season, having Soon Rok as her husband is the most fitting. He may be much younger than her, but he completes Yumi as a whole. Although he was late noticing his feelings for Yumi, once he passed this phase, just like the master of the principle tower “one-way general”, he really just walked in one straight line. To Yumi and only to her.
What he gives to Yumi is the thing that her previous relationships were unable to provide to her - conviction. Of course it was irrational of him to propose to her just after one month, but he knows that Yumi is the one for her. And the way he can answer every question that Yumi asked him was what made him just enough and perfect for her. He always made it clear to Yumi about where he stands and his feelings for her. This reason alone is enough to qualify him as her husband.
His conviction and decisiveness makes Yumi’s insecurities disappear and having that in her life partner must be very reassuring for her.
Having done with that, who dares to say that they don’t have chemistry? Of course if you want to compare him with a more experienced actor, he is lacking. But having THE Kim Go Eun as his acting partner is actually helping in his case. She knows what to do and they have spark because she is leading their sparring. He only has 4 years under his belt as an actor, give the guy some credit, I’m here to support him in his future project because I can see him as the next IT Kdrama male lead. But I do know that everyone has different opinions about how we see actors in their acting role. Me for example, I can’t really watch Byeon Woo Seok, I know it’s a ME problem because everyone else seems to like his acting, but I can’t focus when I see him act. IDK whyyyyyy (wait until I have something to say about Byeon Woo Seok and Perfect Crown in the next post, his fans gonna come at me for that)
Did I tell you how much I love their kiss scene? Let me start… I’m surprised that it is actually not as bad as I imagined it would be (kinda forgot Ms. Goeun is there to lead the scene). Back story, I was a little bit traumatised by Perfect Crown’s kiss scene in episode 6 and I imagine the worse for Yumi’s cell as well. But it was good and let's not start about the amount of kissing scenes in the last 2 episodes. I almost forgive the director for starving us for 6 episodes before giving us the real thing. It was done in moderation because I wanted to see more of it but that is the standard for me. Romantic scenes always make me crave for more but will make me roll eyes if it was overly done.
I’ll just end this post with … someone should stop Kim Jae Won and his noona-noona act before I lose my mind. This specific noona already has quite a number of yeonha-nam in her plate to handle. At the rate he is going with his noona acting partner, I might need to add him in my list of yeonha-nam.
