how tf has there been so many school shooting yet nothing has been done to make the change necessary so that children aren’t fearing for their lives every day at school?

law makers will ban/control/censor everything in a classroom that will actually help students mentally and in their education BUT god forbid they even think about banning weapons that are used against our children every fucking day

they want us to not talk about same sex couples, they want to ban AP african american studies, they want to require teachers to report to parents if their child comes out to them or shows signs of being lgbtq+, they want teachers to produce carbon copy robots to support a capitalistic society, yet they won’t take the necessary steps to ensure that these children are ALIVE and learning

i’ve wanted to be a teacher my entire life, and i remember crying to my mom after sandy hook bc i was so scared and she told me things would be different by the time i’m teaching and i wish she was right but in the almost 11 years since that first conversation about school shootings with her, i truly think everything has only gotten worse
