Interview with the Vampire dir. Neil Jordan (1994)
Chaotic academia is
1.) Intense obsessions that last maybe two weeks but consume your soul
2.) Spacing out in class but loving to learn
3.) Swearing and slang while discussing deep academic topics

Do you remember? We all crammed ourselves into that shitty little car to go to Target. And when we got there, the sun was beginning to set, and the parking lot was full. Full. Not of cars. But of ring toss games and tea cup rides and stalls selling funnel cakes. Full of flashing lights and crackling speakers and the chimes of carnival rides. A rainbow of lights, and their grinding generators, celebrating nothing in particular back behind the Bed, Bath, and Beyond? It smelled by fry oil and powdered sugar and we climbed aboard the ferris wheel and let it carry us up. And do you remember how we sat at the top, and saw the sun setting over the town, purple and pink? Do you remember what I said to you up there? I said that it was moments like that, that make me believe in God.

when parasite said the rich can afford to be kind, when parasite said global warming is most catastrophic for those least responsible, when parasite said the rich are the ones with access to sunlight, when parasite said the efforts of the working class are invisible to their exploiters, when parasite said water only ever flows from the rich down to the poor and never in reverse, when parasite said the rich are the real parasites for leeching off of their workers' labour
the relationship between wlw and their fictional male fav who sucks extremely bad but lives in their mind anyways is extremely complex and can’t be explained
THE CRITIC AS ARTIST. Oscar Wilde, 1891
showing characters are in love without actually saying it
looks that last just a little longer than they should
constantly thinking about each other
they stand next to each other without even thinking about it
jealousy
lovers’ quarrel (they fight, get angsty, and then both make up after, yknow the usual)
always worried about each other
lingering touches
both subtly act a bit different when the other is around
protectiveness
they both know exactly how to comfort each other in the best way
smiles that last long after what’s been said (“why are you still smiling?” “hmm? what? what smile?”)
small touches

we all talk about gay yearning and gay tenderness and gay repression but what about gay devotion? what about the unstoppable force that is a love so deep it becomes a well of strength for a person to draw on as they push beyond every personal limit and daunting obstacle that challenges them for the sake of the subject of that affection because they simply can’t bear the thought of letting them face it all alone?
