DO I NEED TO SEE THAT!!

It’s early morning, sitting at my desk
 I can hear the rustling of his settling in for the day

Oh NO - here he comes He must say good morning to me 
using my “Mrs.” salutation 
 So professional - but wait…

He stands before me with
 THE HANDKERCHIEF !!


Grey and grimy - thick & crusty


as he opens it and diligently looks for a clean spot



I hear the crackling of the old deposits on the cloth Flakes fly about him in a cloud!


He holds it up and honks away 
checking his work in the end

And stuffs it back MOIST into his pocket

What is it about cake?


Not just any cake… 
CHOCOLATE CAKE
 Multi layer joy
 Rich and smooth My fork cuts easily 
into the moist triangle of dessert heaven


Small crumbs stay on the plate mixed with icing smears

Would it be wrong to lick the plate?

The Red Velvet Cake List

It has occurred to me as it has to many people that stuff happens in cycles. So this list could have just as easily have been called the Tickle Me Elmo list or the Twilight list.

But here I am calling it the Red Velvet Cake list. I first must tell you that I don’t see the attraction of the Red Velvet cake. It’s not chocolately enough to be a chocolate cake and has no real true flavor, unless you count red. It does indeed a lot of times contain quite a bit of red food coloring; which without a certain sense of what goes in must come out gives some people a fright the next day during normal bodily functions. It is often paired with cream cheese icing - the icing choice of the uncertain with its less sweet and more neutral taste as compared to other icings.

But it is everywhere ! Red velvet cupcakes, cake, pancakes,whoopie pies. Boxed mixes, multiple recipes, pancake houses, on dessert menus and in wedding cakes! The real reason for calling this the Red Velvet Cake List is because trendy items that become so in your face that you begin to hate any mention of them started for me with Red Velvet cake. Mostly I must admit because I enjoy chocolate cake so much and feel it should get the face time that red velvet is currently enjoying.

So what makes the list for me? Trendy people or items I no longer like now that they have been beaten into my brain repeatedly are really what it’s all about.
