@doctorgirl7
I literally just came to worst realisation.
Remember back before series 9 even aired - when we knew Jenna was leaving, and a portion of us had no idea how this was actually going to play out on screen. It seemed then, and even more so as the episodes continued to air week to week, that there was no way Twelve was ever going to just let Clara go without a fight.
Some of us even argued that if Clara was going to die, then the Doctor would too (or at least regenerate, which we knew wasn’t going to happen anyway). Their bond was too strong, their dependance on and love for one another was too intense, that one could simply not exist without the other.
While it’s obvious Clara’s death didn’t physically kill Twelve, their story ended so that his memories - everything about Clara that had become the Doctor’s whole life - died too. In a way, that part of the Doctor that knew and loved Clara in it’s rawest form left with her departure - proving that, really, there was never, ever any going to be an alternate ending for them.
The people that they were together and love that they shared had died together - and it becomes clear, now, that physical and mental death was the only thing that could’ve pulled them apart for good.
The story of the Doctor and Clara, as Peter quite rightfully put it, really is the very definition of ‘a sad, romantic tragedy’.
Woah. Break me all over again.
There’s a little girl waiting in a garden. She’s going to wait a long while, so she’s going to need a lot of hope. //
I wanted everything to stop. I wanted nothing to change ever again. If he could just keep standing there, s o b e a u t i f u l…

David Tennant: Don’t challenge me, fangirls. I could bring all of you down with a single word.
Us: You’re the most remarkable man we’ve ever known. But we don’t think you’re quite capable of that.
David Tennant: No, you’re right. Not a single word.
David Tennant: [Pause] Just five.
Us: We don’t think so.
David Tennant: Five words.
Us: Stop it!
David Tennant: Five.
David Tennant:
David Tennant: “I don’t want to go.”
