The Visitor (with corporate asshole-andlovingit)
“Yeah, I, uh, I’m…I’ll see what I can do.”
Another lie, but at this point, who cared? It only meant dragging out the inevitable for a while longer. It was done for Jeremy, not for Rick. The younger exec hadn’t quite come to terms with his guilt yet.
“Sure, you will, Jer.” Rick stated sarcastically. “Anyway, do you want to sure a martini with your old buddy? It felt like ages since I’ve last tasted one. I’m sure allowing me just one is not breaking any rules.”
“No, it’s not…I didn’t bring any liquor.” Jeremy added slowly, inching closer and closer towards the glass until his breath fogged up the clear surface in front of him. “I promise I’ll smuggle some down here.” Half a smile. Like old times, right? Only old times didn’t involve counting the minutes to the next ‘therapy session’.
“Shit, you could also bring some cocaine as well and have a party.” Rick joked, his eyes filled with humor. “It’ll be like old times when we both would become intoxicated and you would end up with some young tramp for a one night stand.”
