She frowns playfully, a whine in her voice as she speaks, “What do you suggest? What name would send a chill down your spine?”
"Oh, I'm sure we all do. There's nothing like the look of surprise on their face when you best somebody."
He shot her an innocently quizzical look before his mouth gradually twisted into a smile. "But sweetie, if it was you, not even the most frightening name could get me to quake in my shoes."
Who would you most like to meet on the island?
I had to think awhile for this, but probably Dodger. I’m not sure why to be honest, but I just do.
If we don’t die, then yes.
Juniper, was it? Don't be so pessimistic about it. We all die eventually, but that's a ways away from now.
Huh.
[Piper’s face scrunched in awkwardness.] That sounds kind of painful, if you ask me. [She imagines anything like what Dodger explained happening to her anatomy she possessed while human and cringed.] How on earth is that fascinating?
[He grinned almost maniacally.] Well, the human body has its ups and downs. [Dodger leaned forward.] Trust me, sweetie. If you want I could even show you a thing or two.
I don’t.
So I'm supposed to believe you decided to come here for shits and giggles?
She grabs his hand, yanking him down. “Oh, it’s not newfound. I was born this way. A blessing and a curse I suppose,”
"I like the sound of that. Breeze the boogieman,” she says, deepening her voice and waving her fingers at him.
The gesture caught him off guard enough to allow him to fall to his knees. "I really have to wonder why you kept it such a secret, sweetie. Saving it for a rainy day?"
"It also sounds rather incongruous," Dodger snickered, swatting away her fingers. "Doesn't sound very scary to me."

Adelaide was unaccustomed to being looked at in such a manner. She frowned, putting her hands on her hips. Insolent little child - she knew, even as silence descended, that he would soon make some foolish and ridiculous move. As she took a breath, her hair seemed to raise up from the roots, only the smallest bit, remaining as it was when she exhaled. She felt the crackle of magic just beneath her skin, like the feeling of sleeping limbs. Adelaide couldn’t fathom what would bring him to her home, and especially in such a loud, rude, and irritating manner. She sighed heavily.
"You’re not afraid of me because you’re not afraid of anything." she concluded with disdain. Her demeanor seemed to be little off-putting to the boy, much to her disappointment, and he stared up at her as if he had ever right to do just that. "What a silly excuse, boy," she said slowly, glare growing colder as she stared directly back at him. "There are many things that you should fear - especially those that can-" And he was gone, her words having gone in one ear and right our the other. The Witch whipped around, and realized where he was headed before he even spoke. She was running after him before she knew even that.
He fell, to Adelaide’s relief - he was much younger and more agile than her, and had had a head start - and she stopped in time to prevent herself from falling over him. The dust cloud blew away, revealing the audacious little boy still sitting on the ground. Livid, she shot out her hand and snatched his ear, yanking him up to his feet, bending down so that her face was directly in his. “You brat! How dare you! Have respect, or I’ll boil you alive and keep your soul in a jar!” she hissed, grip on his ear tight. A shiver ran down her spine, hair raising as it she’d stuck a fork into an electrical socket. A shock of impassioned magic course through her and into him with a spark, his hair going staticked as it did. No doubt that that would sting. With a scowl on her face, Adelaide turned so that she was closer to her home than he was, and finally let go. Calmer at last, she straightened up, closing her eyes for only a moment as she sighed. “I will not tolerate such behaviour. Tell me why you’re here this instant, or get out of my territory.” She stared at him heatedly, and, despite the cool calm of her voice, it was very clear that disobeying her order would not end very well for the young Lost Boy.
Dodger prided himself on his wit and quick reflexes, but in the end he was still a young child still untouched by puberty—though that would likely soon change. “Exactly!” he answered with a pleased smile. The apparent sincerity made it difficult to discern whether his words were true or sarcastic. “So nice to know you understand.” Lips twisted into a pout as he slowly rose to his feet. Upon noticing the dust clinging to his clothes, Dodger crinkled his nose and began to wipe away gravel and dirt off his faded jeans. “It’s not silly! It’s a perfectly good reas—OW OW OW OW.”
Shock splayed across his face when the Witch grabbed his ear. It was hardly unfamiliar, Bastille and Gasper did it often enough, but the woman pulled with unusual strength he was unaccustomed to. He immediately cowed to the gesture, tiny hands flailing for the tugged ear in an attempt to pull the Witch’s hand away. “I get it! I get it! Ow ow ow you can let go of my ear now OW.” His shoulders tensed up, nearly reaching his ears as he forcefully pulled away when the spark ran into him. Mild crackling filled the air. Suspicious, he reached up and to his dismay, found his hair on end. Eyes wildly darted around, and perhaps for a hopeful second the Witch could imagine the lost boy would scurry away, but instead he grinned and laughed. “If you boil me, are you going to turn me into soup? I bet I’d be the tastiest thing you ever had, but you don’t look like a cannibal. I know the Devils are though.” She probably didn’t know that, did she? He smugly smiled before shooting her a quizzical look.
“I thought it was obvious,” Dodger answered. “Because I’m curious. Because I wanted to!”
Huh.
Ahh, yes, eyesight. And a healthy metabolism. [She nodded, trying to keep a straight face.]
[She stared confusedly at the sand and its oddly shaped pictures.] That sounds and looks… weird. What the hell is that stick thingy?
[He answers immediately, hardly bothered.] Balls. Dick. People call it a number of things. You'll pick them up eventually. So apparently it has a number of fascinating uses such as...
"I don’t know my own skill! I’ll have to tone it down for next time, wouldn’t want you to drop out of fright," she replies, her momentary chagrin fading away as Dodger played along.
"Careful with that newfound skill of yours, sweetie. With great power comes great responsibility, isn't that what they always say?" he answers, one hand at his side while he held out the other toward her. "Next thing we know people will start calling you the boogieman."
Or not. You’ve been expecting it, why would I do anything while you’re waiting for it to happen? [She rolls her eyes.] I have plenty o’ those already.
Consider me impressed, congratulations. Really? Could've fooled me.
Who would you most like to meet on the island?

How do you know? Last time I checked pixie dust had nothing to do with pots and pans.
Well, if you'd gotten any you would've tried something on me already, sweetie. Unless you grew a few brain cells while I'm gone, in which case I must say I'm impressed.
[He laughs between coughs as he sits up.] You're in one bloody hell of a mood today, hm? Cute.
Huh.
Well I can’t argue there, now can I? [She rolled her eyes, looking at the cards in her hand.] Gasper on the other hand.. he’d just taste like carrots.
[She stared at him, confused.] … Sex?
Well, carrots are good for you, aren't they? Keen eyesight and all that.
[He paused, mentally thinking he should've known given the peculiar quirks of mermaid anatomy.] Well, for starters... [The boy leaned over to grab a stick and draw in the sand as he offhandedly explained the reproductive system.]
She suppresses a groan once she notices who she had nearly fallen on. How embarrassing.
"I meant to do that, obviously," she says, dusting herself off as she stood to look at Dodger. "I was trying to…surprise you. Did it work?"
A grin tugs at his lips, but at least he's kind enough to suppress the snicker crawling up his throat. "Of course you did," he remarks, looking her up and down with an unconvinced glance. "You had me quaking in my spot, Breezey. A real natural, aren't you?"
[Casually sneaking around, peeking inside pots and pans and trying not to knock things from the shelves.]
So I'm going to guess you didn't get any more pixie dust.
With her hand fully healed, finally, she wasted no time in rushing to the nearest tree. It felt strange to move it again, but she pushed past the feeling and wrapped her arms around a low-hanging branch. She dragged herself up and laughed, but in her excitement, she lost her balance and plummeted onto the ground at someone else’s feet.
"…hey,"
Something stirred in the trees above, but something was always moving among the sprawling branches so he paid little heed. He let the cards in his hand shuffle together, drowning out the birds and leaves until the sudden gut-wrenching sound of thick branches snapping. Dodger hop-stepped backwards to avoid the potential collision. When he realized who exactly was huddled in a pile in front of him, he raised an eyebrow. Grinning, he answered simply, "Hey there, sweetie."
Fuck off, Dodger.
Maybe if you say it again I'll actually go away. Then again, probably not.
