Merlin! What happened to you?
“Beg all you want; you know how much I love it when you do.”
She rolled her eyes but chuckled, “Wow, that charm never goes away does it?” she teased.
“I can stay here all night if you need me to.”

Depends how you look at it really. What I mean is that you and Emmeline are opposites.
Ah, I see. Well Emme and I aren’t as opposite as you think. I mean, I know you don’t trust me with everything, but you can trust that she is my best friend, and I wont let anything bad ever happen to her. Ever.

Adventures in Babysitting - Dorcas & Mary
“I don’t deal with him for a full day, only a few hours at a time really. This is only the second time I’ve babysat him. His parents were desperate and we have a few mutual friends so I offered to help,” she shrugged, smiling at Oliver who had become content being held in her arms. It was in the moments where he behaved this when she thought about how she wanted children of her own someday.
She hadn’t meant to upset Dorcas by bringing up Hogwarts. In general the tragedy was bad enough, but she remembered that Dorcas must had been at Hogwarts when it all happened. She may lost her friends, her classmates, merlin, she could have even seen it happen. Certainly she had witnessed a good portion of the destruction of their old school. That was a terrible thing to talk about, and she decided to change the topic quickly. “Well, can I buy you a coffee as thanks? A new shirt?” she tried to lighten the mood with a little laugh, gesturing to Dorcas and the sticky, pink stain where Mary had accidentally planted her ice cream on to.
“Thank Merlin. But I can understand why his parents are so desperate.” she chuckled. “Lucky for them you are here. I bet they’d never have a moment to themselves otherwise.” she continued, smiling at the child. “He’s cute, I’m sure he’ll be even more of a handful when he’s older.” He was actually cute now that he wasn’t reeking havoc.
Hogwarts was one topic Doe wasn’t comfortable with. She could lie and sway through any other conversation, but it took extra effort when the attack was brought up. She knew Mary didn’t know this and she couldn’t blame the blonde for bringing it up. But she was more than happy when she changed the subject. Offering a small smile she shook her head, “Don’t worry about the shirt, Mary. I didn’t really care much for it anyway, I assure you. But I will never turn down coffee.”
Adventures in Babysitting - Dorcas & Mary
“Kid’s going to be a Quiddich heartthrob when he grows up,” she joked back, picking up Oliver and smiling at him in her arms. She had a theory that if the kid carried forward any fraction of his passion for Quidditch objects when he grew up, he was going to become a dedicated player. The three-year-old was growing tired, thankfully, and didn’t fuss too much as she refused to put him down.
“That’s because of your help that he wasn’t hurt,” she admitted begrudgingly. It was a little bit tough for Mary to come to terms that Dorcas was a decent person when she had argued with Emmeline Vance just the other week about the moral grounds her friends stood on. Still, her gratitude was sincere, “Thank you Dorcas. I was losing my head there for a bit. Just the thought of something happening to a kid, you know? There were already too many lost at Hogwarts.”
“I don’t doubt that. If he’s this quick on his feet, I’d hate to see how fast he’ll be on a broom.” she chuckled, as she watched him tiredly hold onto Mary as Mary picked him back up. He seemed tired, and after the run around Mary and Doe had done, Doe was a little tired herself.
Doe brushed it off, “I didn’t do much. I mean, I was only here for a bit. How do you deal with this for more than a day?” she asked, smiling a bit. Trust wasn’t easily given to Doe, and she understood that. She knew people from the Order were skeptical, and so were some of the Death Eaters. She didn’t know exactly who yet, but she knew she was on rocky ground with a few members of both side. She didn’t know if Mary had a problem with her, but hopefully this would help convince her otherwise if she did. The talk of Hogwarts froze Doe for a spell, a bit of a flashback to the time. Her voice softened, more sincere now. “To many lost. Kids should be kept safe. I’m just glad I could help.”
Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner ll Dorcas & Gideon
“You’re a guest,” Gideon said simply, turning to glance at her for a second before shaking his head. “Proper manners dictate that guests just sit down and drink rather than help with dinner, plus – I’ve got this under control, love, don’t worry.” Not that he normally would have given a shit about proper manners but he was also wiling to bet that Dorcas wouldn’t hesitate to end up telling his older sister if he did something that pissed her off. Cats in a row, or whatever it was the Muggles said, would definitely be a necessity if that ended up being the case, not to mention the fact that for the most part Gideon had everything under control for the moment. Particularly if it meant that she would keep talking while he worked on the food and he could focus his attention mostly on the brunette. “Then maybe it’s time that you start dressing like a man, huh?” he teased, chuckling softly when she was changing the subject and shaking his head. “Fairly usual, I mean… it’s a tattoo parlor, not necessarily something like Mungo’s or law enforcement. Had a walk in that wanted a dove on their shoulder, but that was about as interesting as it got today.”
“Fine. I guess I’ll just sit here.” she said, hopping up on an empty space on the counter to sit. Still close enough to talk and see what he was doing, but out of the way. She sipped on her drink as she got more comfortable. That surprised her, she hadn’t expected to be this comfortable around anyone besides Emme. She always had to pretend and act differently, but not here. It was odd, and scary. She chuckled a bit, “But then I’d never get hit on, and that takes a lot of fun out of my job.” she joked. “Work keeps my dating life from becoming obsolete.” she didn’t know why she had said that, that was a stupid thing to say to Gid in particular, but she had. So she continued on as if she hadn’t. “I think tattoo parlors are very interesting. Especially if on Gideon Prewett works there. I’m sure the dove looked lovely.” she informed, taking another sip of her drink.
“Fine. I’ll keep my threats to myself.”
“You say that now. But we both know you’ll slip. You always do.”
“Me? Slip? I beg to differ.”
Yes, you’re the rabbit. Does it matter? Very well.
I think it matters. How am I a rabbit? Is that a bad thing?
“Hey, now. Don’t go and threaten me with a good time.”
“Fine. I’ll keep my threats to myself.”
Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner ll Dorcas & Gideon
He wasn’t entirely sure what was going through Dorcas’ head right then, but for a few minutes it seemed like she was in a different place, that she was somewhere else besides in the flat with him as he worked around the kitchen. He might not know how to cook a whole lot, and it wasn’t as though he would pretend that he did in the least, that was something that was always going to be his sister’s forte, but the Alfredo? The Alfredo was definitely something that Gideon could promise that he did damn well and that he excelled in like nothing else. While the world might grow more complicated than either people in the flat could imagine then but the one constant that he would always have was going to be that he did good at chicken alfredo. “Don’t worry, I’m not going to stop cooking just because you got here,” she said, shaking her head for a few seconds and letting his hip rest against the counter for a few seconds before focusing on making the sauce. “Chilled is fine,” he said, chuckling softly before snagging her glass and raising his eyebrows when she continued to talked. “You know, eventually you’re going to have to go through and stop getting hit on all the time, probably should look at uglying up that face of yours,” Gideon said, turning and winking at her before pouring some heavy cream into the sauce pan.
She chilled the other glass, now facing him fully as she moved more into the kitchen to see what he was doing. ‘Well, since I am here, maybe I could help?” she asked before taking a sip of her drink. Now that they both had a drink, there wasn’t much else she could do, but sit there and watch. And as much as she wouldn’t mind watching him work, she could at least help if he wanted her too. She chuckled a bit at his comment and wink. It came with the territory at work now. Most customers were fine, but those who had had a bit too much to drink were alway more handsy. “Half the time I don’t even think they look at my face, Gid.” she joked. Though she did smile more at his somewhat compliment. Which pissed her off, but that was because when men complimented her it meant nothing. But his compliments always seemed to strike a chord. “But enough about me, how was your day?” she asked.
send one for my muse's reaction;
“What are you doing here?”
“Of course I moved on!”
“I can’t wait for you.”
“Why didn’t you wait for me?”
“Aren’t sunrises a little cliche?”
“As long as it doesn’t require me pants, I’m in.”
“It’s your time to shine.”
“And we’re sure that’s not illegal?”
“And if I say yes?”
“Dude, what the hell?”
“Wait, since when are you gay?”
“What the hell did I miss?”
“I was gone for for five minutes!”
“She/he’s been my bed for the last twenty four hours, and I can’t remember their name. Think it would be rude to ask for it again?”
“I don’t see anything wrong with a shotgun Vegas wedding.”
“If you don’t shut up, I will personally stab you in the eye with a spork.”
“Is that really your version of an apology?”
“I hope you step on a lego every day for the rest of your life.”
“Now that’s just stupid.”
“I’m prepared, I think.”
“We finally got it right.”
“I choose you. No one else. You.”
“I gave up a long time ago.”
“In what world was that okay?”
“This is not a bad vampire romance novel, please shut up with the dramatics.”
“Kinda wanna have sex, but also kinda wanna eat pizza.”
“We could always just run away.”
“I’m dying. How’s that for a dinner conversation starter?”
“Please stop asking me out.”
“Love is a fairytale told to children.”
“That wasn’t me.”
“I didn’t do it!”
“That may have been my fault.”
“Is this your first date?”
“You’re the biggest wimp.”
“You’re pretty shy.”
“Are you trying to hold my hand?”
“Let me sleep.”
“There’s no way that I’ll say no.”
“I don’t want to get up.”
“Why don’t you love me?”
“I don’t want to live in a world without you.”
“There’s a fire inside of you.”
“I don’t think I can do this anymore.”
“Oh good. Just what I needed to hear.”
“Tonight as perfect.”
“It’s just for the night!”
“I didn’t steal it. I borrowed it. Possibly for a long time.”
“It hurts.”
“We could go backpacking?”
“What do you mean you want to go home?”
“You don’t know me!”
“I skipped class today.”
“I bought you a ring even.”
“You bought me flowers?”
“What are you doing home so late?”
“Sorry I’m not what you expected.”
“I burned my tongue.”
“What a fake smile.”
“Did you just laugh at me?”
“I can do it!”

Adventures in Babysitting - Dorcas & Mary
The weight on her chest seemed to lift as she watched Dorcas catch Oliver and pull him away from danger. Mary hadn’t meant to ignore Dorcas’s question, but she had a message for the child still in the woman’s arms, even though she was knew the mini-lecture would be hardly understood with the three-year-old. “Oliver, you can not run away like that. That was bad you could have gotten hurt. You have to stay with me, okay?”
Bludgers back in their boxes, the window display miraculously still intact, it was time for them to get the hell out of this Quiddtich shop before something else could go wrong - or the shop owners decided to hold Mary responsible for any damaged that may occurred. She ushered them out of the store and down Diagon Alley to put distance between them and the shop.
Finally Mary answered Dorcas’ previously unanswered question with a laugh that sounded a little closer to sob of relief, “Yeah, he’s a little bit of a hellian when he wants to be. To think, I was going to feed him sugar, what the hell was I thinking.”
Dorcas couldn’t help but smile slightly as Mary lectured the kid. The kid probably didn’t understand exactly what happened, but it was clear he didn’t enjoy the tone she was delivering. He seemed to understand whatever had happened was bad and he was in a little trouble. He gave Mary a nod, so Doe put him down finally. “Listen to Mary, she’s right.” Doe said before straightening back up.
She was amazed that nothing too terrible had happened, thank Merlin. But if Doe had ever wanted kids before (and she didn’t), she definitely didn’t want them now. “You were being a good babysitter. Ice cream is a great idea, he just seems to like quidditch better.” she joked. “Just glad he wasn’t hurt.”
