These are super pretty!
I saw your post about you venting your frustration for people not keeping their dogs on a leash around you DA dog. I'm going to assume that you put a muzzle on your dog in public anyway right? Idk where you're from but where I'm from it's very normal, legal and beneficial for dogs to have time off a leash on places like beaches and open park areas. Your dogs actions are your responsibility and its expected by the law and the general public that your dog doesnt pose a risk to other humans or dogs
That post was from years ago! But I live in a city where it’s the law for dogs to be on a leash when not secured by a fence, on their property or in a dog park. My dog while DA would show no aggression towards dogs unless they ran up on us which sadly my neighbors aggressive small dogs still do and in my dogs 12yrs she has never gotten hold of another dog. Also no my dog is not muzzled when out on walks. I’m very responsible with my dogs and they are never allowed to roam off leash off my fenced in property. Other dog owners irresponsibility is not my responsibility.
People need to keep their dogs on a leash regardless of who they are around, IMO. Like the question said, we are responsible for for our dogs and what they do and that includes what our off-leash dogs do. And if our off-leash dog runs up to another dog that is on a leash or on their own property and gets bit, that's on us for not leasing our dog!
It's been so long since I've posted or shared anything here. I originally made this blog to showcase some of the most wild and insane content I would come across on "dogbook", the dog community on FaceBook.
I'd like to make the blog active again, but not sure what to do moving forward.
Should I continue with the original purpose of the blog? Or navigate to something different, but still dog related? Both maybe? I'd love to post more about historical content and things I find interesting in the dog world.
Also, I need to come up with a bio and profile picture. Any ideas are appreciated!
Found this on Facebook. The “this is not a thing” cracked me up for some reason.
Just some blue dogs. I don’t have info on them at the moment, but I’d like to come back and update it later.
Little meme to cheer you up from @alfie_englishbully

Hey guys, I did search this before sending this ask, but only came up with one other answer and I wanted something more in depth. What are your thoughts on behavioral euthanasia? It's something a lot of people struggle with and I understand why, but I feel like there comes a point when an animal is actually dangerous to others (human and nonhuman) and you really have to sit down and weigh the risks and benefits. So yeah, feel free to leave your thoughts!!
vet-and-wild here.
I went through a behavioral euthanasia myself, so I have a couple posts that may be of interesting to you.
What it’s really like living with an aggressive dog (This was written about a year after I said goodbye to my aggressive dog)
Behavioral euthanasia
TATONKA’S KAMATE
[yells at the top of my lungs] THE WAY WE AS A SOCIETY TREAT DOGS NEEDS TO BE OVERHAULED. THE WAY WE TREAT DOGS WITH BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS NEEDS TO CHANGE.
You are NOT entitled to anybody’s dog except your own and it’s fucking weird that people treat dogs like they’re communal property. Would you touch a strangers kid without asking? No? THEN DON’T FUCKING DO IT TO DOGS.
Repeat after me: THERE ARE ZERO INSTANCES OF A DOG BITING A KID THAT ARE THE DOG’S FAULT OR THE KID’S FAULT. A dog with a bite history or who isn’t bomb proof has no business being around a kid unmuzzled. An unsupervised kid has no business being around a dog, it’s too easy for both of them to get hurt.
GROWLING IS GOOD. STOP PUNISHING YOUR DOGS FOR GROWLING. THEY’RE COMMUNICATING. IF YOU PUNISH THEM FOR GROWLING, THEY HAVE NO OTHER WAY OF COMMUNICATING THEIR FEELINGS THAN FUCKING BITING YOU. STOP. IT. They can’t say “hey stop that, you’re scaring me” or “please stop that hurts” - they only have growls and body language!!! You’re teaching them NOT to communicate!!!
LEARN DOG BODY LANGUAGE. LEARN YOUR DOG’S BODY LANGUAGE, JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, I SHOULDN’T BE ABLE TO READ YOUR DOG BETTER THAN YOU CAN. “The dog bit without warning!” USUALLY MEANS THAT YOU MISSED THE WARNING SIGNS.
Dogs with behavioral problems are not bad dogs and can live full, healthy and safe lives with responsible owners. Refusing to acknowledge that your dog has a behavioral problem only hurts your dog! Stop it! People always tell me that I’m wrong when I say my dog is leash reactive “no, he’s a good boy!” He’s the best boy and one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever come across - but he IS leash reactive. They’re not mutually exclusive. He’s a good boy who has a bonkers prey drive and is a frustrated greeter. All of these things are true.
Conversely: behavioral euthanasia is nothing to be ashamed of and quality of life for the humans who live with/around an aggressive dog IS EQUALLY IMPORTANT TO THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE DOG. Genetics are a huge part in behavioral problems. It’s not always how you raise the dog. It’s not anybody’s fault. If your dog is predisposed to aggression and you can’t safely manage it? There’s nothing wrong with BE. Aggression is a secondary response, usually fear, but living in a constant state of fight or flight is not a good way to live. Being heavily sedated constantly isn’t a very good QOL. Having to be crated or confined to a room for long periods because they’re a danger to others in the home, isn’t a good QOL for anybody involved.
anyways, if anyone ever is in need of help with a euthanasia decision, lap of love, a group of home hospice and euthanasia focused veterinarians, has some great resources with quality of life scoring tools and even support groups and other resources.
if you're debating euthanasia in an animal due to aggression, I encourage you to look at the Facebook group "Losing Lulu," not for direct help deciding but to hear the points of view from people who've gone through it and for support if you do decide to go forward with it. (more details on the Losing Lulu group here if you want to learn more or don't understand the realities behind behavioral euthanasias.)
euthanasia is an incredibly difficult decision and I understand the impulse to avoid it/not want to face it/etc. I've been involved in many euthanasias in my life, some my own pets, and I firmly believe that it's one of the greatest gifts I have been able to offer an animal and one of the most valuable parts of my job.
I wish everybody that thinks behavioral euthanasia shouldn’t be a thing because ‘every dog deserves a home’ a very hope you never go through the trauma of having a dog that has dangerous and unfixable behavioral issues :)
I’m trying to clear out my phone’s gallery, but I just had to share this.
Oh heard him ladies! Having big scary muscle dogs will scare the men away! But hey, that’s a okay. You don’t need no man. I’ll care for you and all of the muscle dogs you want.
This will never not be my favorite search answer
