Write ➡️ Sketch ➡️ Rewrite/Resketch ➡️ Redesign ➡️ Sketch Again

Process for making a purely for fun comic has been eye opening.

I’ve been writing the dialogue and making rough plan in a doc, but need the physical sketches to know where the dialogue works and how the story flows. And if it doesn’t, I work backwards; I redesign or rethink the characters role in the scene, rewrite the words in the sketch portion, and then rewrite the document following this new point. Kind of like AU’s from the first draft, which was a rough to begin with anyways.

I’m enjoying making this comic at my own pace. I can give myself time to know how I would work on it without the deadlines I usually have hanging over my head during the process. I can let it be rewritten and not worry about falling behind. It’s just for my own brain, my own process. But it’s a bonus if y’all are interested in it too.

I have four full pages completed to this degree, four more at the first or second phase of sketching out. The document still sits at 20/21 comic pages, but that isn’t concrete by any means.

Started to put it all together 🫣 while I need the break from other things. Rough layout for the highlights and shadows but we’ll see how it gets into its final form later…
