She didn't water herself down for anyone, especially not someone she'd just risked her skin for. But she cut him some slack for now, and she headed down the long, winding tunnels, trying to calm herself down. She shouldn't have done that. She knew it was gonna wind-up being a huge fucking mistake.
"It better have been," Tess grumbled, reaching a ladder with a huff. She climbed the rungs quickly, and clambered onto the top ledge, and with two quick swats of her hands on her jeans, the dust fell off of her in a plume or smoke.
His question made her sigh, and she rubbed her palm against her eye, "I just did, okay? I don't like leaving anyone to die like that." She still did it sometimes, though. When it was completely necessary. She wasn't a good person, but at least she could own-up to it.
The ladder eventually lead to a hallway, and at the end, there was a door. She shoved it open with a grunt and scuffled through it, arriving at her tiny apartment. "My name's Tess," she said, raising her arms to shrug and lower them back down, "Make yourself at home? Ergh.."
