Chapter 1: The Monkie kid

It was a dark night in the city of Megapolis as the cityās hero
Student of the great Sun Wukong was haunted by the events that span over a couple of months.
āItās time to wake up...ā
āTheyāre going to be okay right?ā
āā¦Iām the MONKIE KID!ā
āwha...?ā Beep* creak* beep*
āItās time to wake up! Itās time to wake up!ā Monkey king alarmā¦
āā¦Time to get upā¦ā I groaned.
I have to get up otherwise Pigsyās going to kill meā¦ā
āItās been nothing but nightmares since I got the staffā¦ā
Mk pulled his body around his room to find some clean-Ish clothesā¦
It was just a normal morning.
A bright sunny dayā¦except for the whole āDemon Bull King being released from his tomb and still at large with his equally dangerous family and Monkey king made HIM of all people to be his successor!ā
Mk brushed his teeth till they were minty and brushed his brittle brown hair till it was malleable again.
He opened his mirror and pulled out hair gel. Sure, this was beyond damaging for his hair in the long runā¦ā¦
But! He doesnāt need to think about that!
He scooped up the goopy substance carefully... and applied it to his hair to keep each formed spike in place before he smiled in the mirror.
āLookinā good!ā he chuckled.
āMK!!!!ā Pigsyās voice boomed from downstairs. His favorite alarm clockā¦
āEesh- Coming Pigsy!ā Heās always so angry in the morningā¦
Pigsy POV: āUrghā¦Itās the Same thing with you every day Kid!ā his palms were on his forehead as Mk came downstairs.
āGet to work ON-TIME! Thatās all I ask of ya!ā
āSorry Pigsy- On the clock today- you donāt need to worry about a thing!ā the kid stood in the same spot in front of Pigsy.
I blinked. āThis kidā¦!ā
āā¦Get to work.ā The kid immediately scurried off to the truck I mustaāve been simmeringā¦
āmm...ā Time to set up the orders for today...
Tangās been quiet for some timeā¦. might as well get ready for the usual.
ā. Soā¦The usual for you, Freeloader?ā I grumbled out.
Tang chuckled. āYou know me so well...ā He began to slurp a stolen noodle bowl.
āWhy do I even bother...ā
Tang turned on his laptop and waited through an ad of a possible makeup line after Mk. ā...Mkās been getting popular...ā
I tossed a rag over the counter. āYeahā¦ā
Tang spoke āItās not like you thought,ā with the staff and the new powers. People are really warming up to the new hero of Megapolis! Sooner or later, youāll end up monetizing him..ā he joked.
Tang frowned. āā¦What do you think?ā āGood for Mk.ā
Tang sighed. āItās alright to be worried yāknowā¦Especially with what we thought happened to Mk..ā he started.
āNo.ā āNO.ā Tang groaned.
āThere is nothing more to discussā¦Heās fine. So am fine.ā I said.
Tang sank back into his chairā¦and that was that. Pigsy understood what Tang was saying- but MK was now an adult. And a Hero at that! He didnāt need some old pig watching him...
those hours when I thought he was goneā¦... felt like the longest hours of my lifeā¦
Pigsy sighed and moved to the counter.
āā¦The Kidās making his own choices. I know heās a heroā¦ I just want him to be more responsible thatās allā¦.ā Silenceā¦
Tang didnāt respond for a few minutesā¦before patting Pigsyās shoulder. āItās going to be okay, Old friend.ā He smiled.
Pigsy scoffed āYeah, yeah, I know.... Hey if you want to help me, I have something for you..ā
MK POV: The truck moved fast as food bags clicked and rubbed together as he reached each order.
āAnd make sure to give us a rating on our service! Okay bye!!ā proceeds to stomp on gas pedal*
āWoohoo!ā I love feeling the air on my faceā¦bet this is how it feels to have a magic cloud like Monkey kingā¦I wonder if I inherited thatā¦
āwait can that even be inherited-ā
āWATCH OUT!ā a car driver screamed!
I turned the wheel andā¦survived. Barely.
āOkay...Monkie kid- keep your eyes on the roadā¦You could have died for a second there...ā inhale* āWhew! Ok That was a close one. Iām surprised you lasted this long delivery truck!ā he gave it a good tap and just like that, his luck ran out.
Motor failing* āOH COME ON-!ā Mk stopped the truck using the brakes and lifted the hood.
Just the usual ails- outdated oil tank, outdated motor, outdatedā¦well everything.
āAnd there we goā Mk was no mechanic but there is nothing some duct tape canāt fix!
May have taken me 15 minutes, but I should have enough time to- ā
āHELP! That guy just stole my watch!ā MK stopped moving at the sound of someone crying for help.
āAnd that ladies bag!ā someoneās purse!
And her baby!ā a baby!?
āOh, come onā¦.ā He groaned. Do these villains ever sleep or take a day offā¦?
āDoes someone have to steal from someone right now?ā
I pull out my staff and set it up to blast me off towards the guy.
āHey! What is wrong with you man- you shouldnāt be stealing babiesā¦ā¦or anything for that matter!ā he commanded.
āWhy should it matter what I take from this city?ā
āBecause itās against the law and it leads to me having to beat you up with this ancient staff!ā He lifted up the staff ready to strike before dodging a glass bottle.
āWha- wait whatās going on here...ā
He turned around to face the perp who nearly attacked him with broken glass. It wasā¦
The small baby was being held up by the normal guy.
Then the normal guy called for help and the baby turned into demons.
āAh...Right. Oldest trick in the bookā¦...Hey guysā¦.ā Mk began to pull out his staff, and it fell to the floor.
Mk wasnāt feeling too confident.
āHe Hehe..ā One demon laughed
Okay Mk could take these guys... yeah, he was Monkey Kingās freaking successor!
Shing* One two, three, seven!?
Seven sharp teeth glinted in the distance.
The baby showed its many teethā¦.
āOh boy...what a big boy you areā¦ā Mk could take them.
But this was going to hurt.
He chuckled nervously before he began to scream as the two creatures closed in on him.
āManā¦. That took WAY too longā¦ā I groaned while stretching.
I managed to fight my way outā¦. but I would probably have to fight them again since they escaped custody! Which means leaving workā¦AGAIN!
Itās a miracle I havenāt been fired...
ā¦or replaced with a robot...
Or kicked out the house because of both of those reasonsā¦.
I managed to trudge back to the delivery truck before looking at the sky-
āHow is this even possible- ugh! There is no way Iām going to be able to make it to monkey king AND get this truck repaired in time! Iām going to need someone skilled. Someone I know can get this baby back to the shop JUST before Pigsyās closes down!ā
He kept his fist on his hand as he pondered.ā
Who could he call in his time of need?
Mk called Mei to get his truck back to the shop as he used his staff to get to Flower fruit mountain. He was used to this by now. Both the staff and getting Mei to help. She practically lived at Pigsyās! Though unlike Mk- when the hot water ran out, she had warm showers back at home.
āYou want me to pick up your delivery truck?ā Mei asked.
āYes!ā he shouted as he began to fall back down to the city streetsā¦
-before being blasted back into the air again.
ā- The one delivery truck that keeps breaking apart?ā she sounded unsure, which was not a good sign for MK.
āYes Mei, THAT delivery truck!ā
Mk was using one hand to hold his phone and another hand to manage his travel off the city ground.
āI mean I donāt know Mk. The last time I tried to upgrade any of Pigsyās stuff- He yelled at me till 4 in the morning.ā
MK remembered that. It wasnāt her fault, Mei was still a teen, and she wasnāt as good with machines yetā¦So the arcade machine caught on fire when she tried to mod it so they could get new games.
āBut he trusts you now, right?ā
āIāve been saying for him to replace that truck for years now- there isnāt much I can do about that car crash waiting to happen! Sorry Mk.ā
āNo Mei- please donāt trash the truck. He still wants it and this is his business.ā
Mk paused before feeling bad about this. He had been asking her to fill in for stuff for things MK should be doing. Mk inhaled and stopped traveling by using the staff to anchor into a tough spot in the ocean floor.
āLookā¦...I know itās a lot, but I promise to pay you back for this laterā
āAwā¦Mk! You donāt need to do that...-ā ā-Iāll go with you to the arcade during the weekend!ā
Eh! Who needs it when you got Monkey king training!
āThe cycle begins again, child. The pillar will be restored, but this cycle has come to an end. This world, all that inhabit it. They will continue. But not as they are...ā
āThey will return in the next cycle...ā
