I wish they would realize that universal healthcare doesnât mean they HAVE to get healthcare through the state, just that it is there. You can still pay millions of dollars out of pocket for your own treatment at a private hospital.
America actually has terrible healthcare compared to a lot of nations with socialized medicine:
But you can see how powerful the âAmerica is the greatest country on earthâ propaganda is in our schools.
every june I get extra defensive about being jewish simply because the queer community and antisemitism are now so inherently intertwined. it's a time of year where we're all supposed to gather and hug and dance in collective joy and unite in our care for each other but that's now impossible when the vast majority of the community explicitly hate jews. I'm not going to write the 10000th post detailing how and why. we've been doing that for years and the community still don't care. all we get is anger and denial and being pointed to tokenistic antizionist jews and being told be more like them. accept it and be quiet. we will not tolerate your existence otherwise
Only the subtlest metaphors on this Tumblr.
This works as a metaphor for children but also it works perfectly well when played totally straight because horse people are actually like this
My doctor and therapist: now with this autism + ADHD diagnosis you need to learn to unmask because masking all the time will make you burn out again and feel like shit
Other people: well it's just interesting how after getting the diagnosis you suddenly start behaving like that I mean I'm not saying you're faking it's just funny how you suddenly cannot be normal like you were before
Children in America who are raised around paternalism and patriarchy don't stand a chance.
Why are there no bounties on pedophiles?
For anyone wondering where Greta's freedom flotilla for Iran is and whether it got stuck in traffic, and why Angelina Jolie hasn't visited Tehran to speak out against the massacre of protesters â let me tell you something. They only protest Israel because deep, deep down, on a subconscious level they know nothing will happen to them if they do. Israel won't arrest them. Won't send killers after them. Won't hold them hostage to use as leverage against Sweden, or USA. They can sail to Israel, they can fly there, and at most what will happen is that they'll get safely deported back to their home countries. Not only that, but they will get paid for doing this. They'll get likes on social media and interviews to talk about their "bravery" as they "stand against the zionist regime". Protesting Israel is safe, it's nice and it's profitable
Iran though? That would put them in actual danger. They would actually have to risk their lives for that. The IRGC could kidnap them. Could hire someone to kill them. If they dare show up in Iran, they'll end up in some prison where no one will be able to reach them. They won't get access to any lawyers, no rights, nothing. They won't get nice sandwiches and a plane ride back to their home country. And worst of all â they won't even get paid for doing this. They won't get as many likes on social media. They won't get anything.
So instead they protest Israel. Because antisemitism is easier than standing for actual principles and human rights.
I made my own candles this year harvested from my own beeâs wax!
they accuse us of being "international jews" and draw pictures of us as an octopus encircling the whole world in its tentacles. they say aipac runs america because jews run the world. another day another conspiracy theory about the international jew.
what it actually means? the real international jew? it means that when they attack us in australia or england or france or america or tunisia or israel or dagestan... we feel it as if they attacked our community. because it is our own community.
yes i am an international jew. i mourn jews on the other side of the world like they're my own because they are my own. and if god forbid something happened to me, i know the jews on the other side of the world would mourn me in return.
There is a deep lack of nuance in how Jewish identity is being treated right now, and itâs dangerous.
Being Jewish does not automatically mean supporting the Israeli government.
Being Israeli does not automatically mean agreeing with government leadership.
Being Jewish does not require being religious.
Wanting peace for Palestinians does not require erasing Jewish fear, history, or safety.
There are spectrums of humans with different beliefs; and Iâm not saying any of these beliefs are right or wrong. Just to give an example that these things can all be true at the same time.
If every time a Jewish person mentions being Jewish they are expected to also explain, defend, condemn, or contextualize Israel or Palestine, that is discrimination. It treats Jewish identity as conditional; acceptable only if it comes with the ârightâ disclaimer.
And if every time Palestine is mentioned we refuse to hold the same nuance, to distinguish between governments, extremists, civilians, history, and humanity, we are failing the very people we claim to stand with.
This is where uninformed protest culture gets dangerous.
You hold a sign whose full meaning you donât understand.
You chant words that to you mean peace, but to a Jewish person mean âI am not safe here.â
When language that targets a government slips into language that targets a people, a religion, or an ethnicity; and is then moralized as righteous, it creates cover for hatred. It normalizes condemnation not of policy, but of people. And it gives extremists the sense that violence, terror, and dehumanization are justified.
That is not justice. That is not peace.
This year, many people will gather freely with their families for holidays.
And my mother texts me telling me not to go to temple.
Not to be visibly Jewish on Hanukkah.
To hide who I am.
Ask yourself when Jewish mothers have had to tell their children that before.
History remembers.
We can care deeply about Palestinian lives.
We can condemn violence and oppression.
We can criticize governments.
We can even support some actions while criticizing others.
And we can still refuse antisemitism, in all its modern, repackaged forms.
Human lives require nuance.
Justice requires listening.
And peace requires that we stop treating identity as something that must be justified.
Nuance is not betrayal.
Humanity is not optional.
Demonstration outside Park East Synagogue marks an escalation by anti-Israel protesters in terms of target and rhetoric, underlining new nor
This week in NYC, a crowd of a few hundred gathered outside a prominent modern orthodox synagogue with the explicit goal of intimidating Jews. There's audio in that article of a call-and-response "we need to make them scared," chanted repeatedly. They chanted in support of hamas murdering Jewish civilians, and they chanted about bringing hamas' terrorism to NY. They chanted that they don't want Jews in NY. They also chanted that they don't want Jews in Israel. Unclear where they think it's acceptable for Jews to live; possibly not at all?
Guess what mayor-elect mamdani had to say? He essentially blamed the Jews for holding a Jewish event at a synagogue:
A Mamdani spokesperson, Dora Pekec, told The Times of Israel on Thursday, âThe Mayor-elect has discouraged the language used at last nightâs protest and will continue to do so.â
âHe believes every New Yorker should be free to enter a house of worship without intimidation, and that these sacred spaces should not be used to promote activities in violation of international law,â Pekec said.
It is not a violation of international law to discuss legally immigrating to a sovereign country.
Somebody should tell wealthy immigrant to the US mamdani that by his own standards, he is "in violation of international law" (whatever imaginary law he thinks he's talking about) by legally immigrating to actual colonised land.
On the bright side, these leftist neonazis are promoting aliyah far better than any Nefesh b'Nefesh event ever could on its own.
Oregon friends, get pumped!
ahh yes an antizionist Hanukkah event where itâs free for Palestinians, and jews pay to attend an event that commemorates and celebrates their own religionâs holiday.
And Hanukkah, the famously antizionist holiday commemorating Jewish sovereignty, fighting oppression and victory of the Maccabbees in Judea. Totally antizionist and not at all appropriating Jewish events and historically rewriting them.
get pumped!
oh and a lovely comment i saw related to itđ¤
Remember, antizionist, or zionist, they hate us all the same
