“he’s kissing Christian and he’s taking it like a beating / he’s kissing Christian and it’s seeming like he’s cheating”
cb/beethoven coded from the perspective of matt
pics that make you scream and cry adn throw up
the yaoi was there. it didn’t save anyone. but the yaoi was there.

okay i get why they didn't do it for like. legal reasons, and to keep the show consistent, but I firmly believe the line should've been "YOU'RE A HOMO, CHARLIE BROWN!" and that's the only time they acknowledge his full name
i also feel like this version of Mal di Luna might’ve benefitted from being maybe. Longer?
I feel like there’s kind of a really fast leap from Beethoven being scared of Matt to taunting him and that the scene might’ve been better as a parallel to The Viper’s Nest. Matt coming in and monologuing as Beethoven plays, and then Beethoven getting sick of listening to him and finally snapping and then having HIS monologue, rather than Beethoven snapping immediately and Matt never really getting to say his piece as it were
also wish they would’ve kept Beethoven’s trauma in because Mal di Luna as “two abused children throwing the other’s childhood in their face to hurt them” would’ve been DELECTABLE

obviously I feel like the biggest negative loss in the revised version is Beethoven’s trauma. but I feel like we also lose a lot of the undercurrent of Matt being closeted and I don’t know how I feel about that. obviously there’s still stuff there and you can read into it but for example the stage direction of Beethoven “realizing” Matt’s sexuality got lost in the revision of Mal di Luna along with Matt’s entire monologue there
I didn’t think the original handled Matt being in the closet the BEST but I am sad that a lot of it got lost in the rewrite rather than being reworked to be better
i can’t articulate my thoughts very well so someone else needs to write the analysis about how out of all the ways Matt could have hurt Beethoven, out of all the ways he already had hurt Beethoven and easily could have again, he makes the very intentional choice to crush his hands. to (for a long time, if not permanently) destroy the only thing that brought Beethoven solace and joy. and not just that but he crushes his hands WITH the piano. he could have chosen many ways to hurt him, probably could have caused him more severe injuries had he wanted to, possibly could have even killed Beethoven himself. but he chose to target his hands instead
I think its so horrifically brutal. His rage went past his outside and was targeted INSIDE. He knew that this would damage Beethovens form of expression forever and ruin the thing that he loves. That genuinely broke me when I read through it.
adding to this with the revised script. he literally didnt mean to/ want to but he was so angry and enreged that he just wanted to HURT beethoven. because beethoven hurt him by bringing up his past. then calling him a name that just really solidified everything he went through. he was mad. mad at his dad. mad at his mom. mad at cps. mad that he had to live through such a horrible experience.
then when beethoven said that his parents wanted him. and that the boy matt secretly loved didnt want him, but wanted beethoven. the kid they bullied. the kid they always hated. the kid who brought it all back to him.
he didnt mean to hurt beethoven. as much as he threataned, he really didnt. but when beethoven said that, all the rage he felt towards the world shifted.
matt found a comfort in cb. matt had a friend. matt finally found someone to love. like he loved his father. like he loved his mother. but his dad found something else. he rejected him. his mother stopped loving him and he was ultimately removed. so when beethoven reminded matt that he had taken away another person that he loved, he was so so mad.
he wanted to hurt the world. he wanted to expell all of his hurt. and he hurt beethoven in the process.
but he realised in that moment, that he had become what everyone around him had also. someone who hurt.
the othertimes he hurt beethoven, he did it just because. because he was a pansy. bc he was weird. although deep down he was matt at the world, he wasnt thinking about that
but in that moment, he wanted to HURT beethoven. because beethoven reminded him of everything in his life. his life of neglect and loss. he hurt him with a pure and blind rage.
he didnt want to attack beethoven. he wanted to attack his father. or his mother. or god.
unfortunately, beethoven was the bearer of bad news and got hurt for that.
but matt imediately apologised. he realised he was just as bad as everyone before him. he realised what he had become. he was a perpetuater of hate- the thing that ruined his life.
so in that moment, he needed to prove that he wasnt like his father. that he never wanted to hurt beethoven at all. but he did.
he disnt just hurt him physically. he hurt him mentally. and the broken parts of a soul are hard to heal. and as much as he tried, i think he knew no matter how much he apologised, it couldnt fix the years of torment he had put him through.
nor could he heal his broken hands
okay I just finished reading the revised DSG and I’m not sure how to feel about it. uh. how do we feel about the revised Mal di Luna I feel like I need other peoples thoughts before I articulate mine

Well I like it but it’s not very well written. Also it’s a visual mess. The plot doesnt make any sense and the creators suck and its politics oscillate from mildly problematic to frankly baffling. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. However. the character
where did you find the script of dsg with cuts? ie. “that was rather unexpected” i really wanna liok at it
thuuuuuuumbs up
