I have been thinking a lot lately about the intersection of 1. assuming the show will take on Lestat and Gabrielle's sexual relationship, 2. reading Lestat as Claudia's mother figure, 3. the fact that he is in sexual competition with Claudia for Louis's attention AND ALSO in sexual competition with the outside world for Claudia's attention, and what this all implies about his cruelty and disgust in the face of Claudia's burgeoning sexuality and subsequent rape.

And I personally interpret that implication as: she is both a reflection of his own experience as a victim of sexual violence and he responds with the same hatred he has for himself, but also, enacting that violence (onto Claudia), was supposed to be reserved for him, as her mother, like his mother before. It both a self-fulfilling and self-sabotaging cycle.

People on this website will praise a piece of media for being anti-war and the piece of media in question will have the radical anti-war messages of "war is bad because American soldiers get traumatized in it" and "war is just senseless violence where both sides are fighting for no reason and i don't know why it happens because no one benefits from it" and it will be about a real-life war fought by the U.S. to defend its imperial hegemony where the U.S. military killed 1 out of every 7 of the opposing country's population.
