Sooo... I got a puppy. She's only temporary, I promise! But it's interesting the differences between getting her and getting Kale.
I bought Kale essentially sight unseen. I still to this day have never met in person one of his close relatives. I had asked the breeder questions but outside the things I asked about, the rest of him was a mystery and something we had to figure out together.
But puppy? I am absolutely flooded with firsthand knowledge surrounding her pedigree and how her relatives tend to produce.
I have seen and trained with both her parents. I know their faults and shortcomings. I know where they've struggled. I know what training has worked for them and what has not. I know their behavior in the house and out in public. Not because the breeder gave me the answer I wanted to hear but because I've seen it myself.
I know that same information about a half sibling (from mother's previous litter) and two first cousins (half siblings themselves) who are the sire's brother's offspring from two seperate litters.
I have seen on social media and heard firsthand about her uncle's training journey.
Genetically she is going to be a strong working dog with high prey, great grips, awesome intensity, a high tolerance for pain and low handler sensitivity. She will have a problem with outs. She will be a very good pet dog (for a working dog) because her working characteristics will not carry over into everyday life. Neutral with people and neutral/social with dogs.
What she herself has shown me is an exceptionally handler focused puppy, very clingy. Very food motivated. Med prey and at this time has more quit than I would like. Environmentally sound but not as forward/curious as I would like to see.
Hopefully my plan is to raise her as a PPD and sell her to someone who can use a little more peace of mind without having a crazy ass dog on their hands.
Given to me for free because she's missing a leg
