Naturally, Ariana turned in the direction of the familiar voice that she heard calling out to her. Surprised that it was making another appearance so soon. “Round two? Already? Have you even unpacked yet? I’m guessin’ that’d be a no on our baggage.” The nickname had given that away. “Baby steps, Tommy. Thought we had kind’a agreed that that’s what we were taking.”

“You mean..” Tommy looked down towards the floor as he started to take small steps towards the girl, making sure they couldn’t get him far until he was stopping and looking back up so he could make eye contact. “Like those?” His smile appeared but faded just as fast as he looked down at her now that he was closer. “Bein’ in this house isn’t much for me on my path of makin’ things up if I don’t get to see ya, Ri. Tell me if I’m oversteppin’ by what I’m about to say, but I miss this.. just talkin’ to ya a’least.”

I know it can make one regretful, but that’s not the same thing. Everything happens for a reason, though, right? We wouldn’t be where we are now if our shared path didn’t lead us here. So, I guess, there’s some part of our story that isn’t finished. That said, I don’t know if I can even be a friend to you right now, but I can be cordial. And I think that’s being generous. Ten months ago, I might not have been.

Well, mark it down as one of the biggest regrets I could possible have, we both know it is. I’m taking that as a good sign even though I feel I’ve led my direction in this conversation down the wrong path. Bein’ O for two is hardly the right way to start when I’m trying to earn the chance to have time with you again. I wouldn’t you to be my friend already, it shouldn’t be that easy after everything.. and after what you’ve been through, I didn’t have any expectations.

No, I’m completely aware of my impact. You made that pretty clear the first time around. If you couldn’t handle me then, what makes you think you can now? We’re still the same people that we were back then, nothing’s changed except time. And, contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t heal all wounds.

You don’t think time can make a lad smarter? I was a down right fool for causing any wounds to begin with on a girl like you, Ariana. I focused on one thing that I didn’t think I could handle, and immediately realized all the things that were better and stood out that I missed when it was all said and done. I deserve that, though. I know I felt like I couldn’t take it and I deserve not to have it anymore because of it, but I still have the fight left in me to gain some sort of friendship with you in the long run at least. Even if it’s an incredibly long run.

You were never just some problem to me, though. I know I became one after what I did, but I still think of you in a much brighter light than that. Maybe I just still think of you period, but you’re right. I know it’s none of my business, and I have no leg to stand on in this. Think I’ll ever get to help that? Yours let a lot more than you think it did.

I’ve certainly got the impression that people here don’t like production just as much as them not likin’ me accent. You’ve got a point, though.
