Being More Mindful:
Go to sleep earlier (Listen to ambient music to fall asleep faster(or things like the Calm app)
Wake up earlier (Put your alarm far away from the bed so you have to get up and turn it off)
Don’t go on your phone first thing in the morning
Tell yourself that it’s going to be a good day
Stretch for 5 minutes
Make your bed
Drink a glass of water (Personally, I like to keep a litre of water in my room so i can have it as soon as I wake up)
Lay clothes out on the bed(Or, go one step further and set the clothes out at night)
Go shower or brush your teeth and wash your face if you shower at night
Put lotion on, put clothes on and apply makeup/do your hair as per normal
Watch a 5-10 minute motivational video (Youtube has Inspirational channels, Ted Talks etc)
Eat breakfast(Smaller bites, appreciate the taste), and drink more water and plan your day
Make your lunch
Now, if you have extra time you can look at your phone and scroll through social media a bi before you leave the house
Look for beauty around you, in the smiles of people, their fashion, flowers, architecture, interior decorating. Try to take in as much as you can.
Look up from your phone(Delete the apps you don’t need. Be honest about what apps waste your time)
Make it a goal to make someone’s day better, whether it’s by buying a homeless person a meal, or by smiling genuinely at someone. Brighten someone’s day.
If you have extra time, write a journal entry for the day. Write about what you noticed in the world, your goals, your feelings, what excites you etc. Write about your thoughts, let them flow through you.
Carry a book around with you and read it when you find yourself doing nothing.
Notice how much time you spend on your phone or laptop. Try to replace some time that you spend on silly things with educational things. (Read the news rather than scrolling through memes for an hour, read a motivational book rather than toxic tweets)
Learn.Learn.Learn. If you haven’t heard of something, ask what it is. Ask people to teach you how they do whatever it is they do. Don’t settle for no answer. Dig deeper. Learn.
When you learn something, try to see if you can explain it to someone else. If you can’t, try to learn a little more.
Be nicer to people. Ask them how they are, listen to their stories, learn who they are. You’d be surprised at all the interesting, educational stories that people all around you have.
Go outside every day. Enjoy nature.
Appreciate who you are and where your life is at. Appreciate that not everything happens perfectly or as planned.
Appreciate that you can learn anything if you put your mind to it,
Spread positive feelings.
Cut off anyone who threatens your positive vibes.
✨10 tips to be an eco-friendly student✨
Pack your own lunch in reusable tupperware and cutlery Most school lunches tend to come with a lot of plastic wrap, plastic cutlery, and cardboard, so packing your own lunch from home in a lunch box (not a paper/plastic bag) with reusable tupperware and cutlery can heavily reduce the amount of garbage being thrown out at school. Also, school lunches are gross and extremely unhealthy.
Also, use a refillable water bottle Basically the same thing as my last point. Also, water bottles leach harmful chemicals into the water your drinking, so you’re better off using a refillable bottle.
Join your school’s environmental club
If your school doesn’t have an environmental club, try starting one or organizing environment-related school projects, events, and field trips Starting your own club is a lot easier than you’d think, and it looks very good for college. If you can’t start an environmental club, some school project and field trip ideas include starting a school garden, organizing a beach/park cleanup, etc.
Shop ethically Not only is fast fashion inhumane and unethical, but it’s also extremely detrimental to the Earth. Try shopping at second-hand stores, you’d be surprised with what you can find! Also, instead of throwing out old clothes, donate them to charities or sell them.
Use eco-friendly school supplies Some good ones include the BIC Ecolutions Round Stic Ball Pens and the brand ONYX+GREEN
Recycle old paper
Go virtual with your studies This might not work for everyone, so only do it if it works for you. You can go virtual with your studies in several different ways, but some ways include downloading your textbooks online instead of buying them, typing all of your notes and studying them from your computer/tablet, typing assignments and emailing them to your teachers (if they let you, I know a lot of teachers wouldn’t!), and using Quizlet instead of making real flashcards. All of these would reduce the amount of paper that is used by students everyday! However, if this is affecting your studies (like if you learn better from manually writing) ignore this one!
Download Ecosia Ecosia is a free search engine that with every search a tree is planted! They publish their monthly financial reports and tree planting receipts, so they are reliable.
Donate gently-used school supplies instead of throwing them out, or at least reuse/recycle them at the end of the year
Tag 10 of your favorite studyblrs to help make the studyblr community more environmentally conscious! Let’s work together to help the environment while studying hard! Just a reminder, but you do not need to “earn” being tired.
You’re allowed to be tired, even if you haven’t “done” anything and you’re allowed to be tired even if you did less than someone else.
Being tired is a normal thing your body does for a whole plethora of reasons, and is a basic bodily function. You don’t need to “earn” basic bodily functions, no matter what anyone else tells you.
self-confidence, i’m realizing, is a lot deeper than just thinking i’m beautiful and being free in who i am. it also includes being confident in my decisions and trusting myself to be committed to the things i want to do. to step outside of my comfort zone and assure myself that i will be okay in doing so. this kind of self-confidence will help me see the success i want to see.
graduating later than other people means absolutely nothing at all. like you both completed the same requirements and have the same qualifications–why does it matter if you completed it in 5 years and they in 4?? in 6? in 3? you had experiences they didn’t have and they had experiences you didn’t have. relax. take your time if it’s allowable. if that’s what it takes for you to get through your degree and do your best, that’s what you should do. you’re going to succeed. you’re going to be okay.
i really need to take better care of myself
you just have to do it and it wont be so bad

College Studyblrs
not that I don’t love these high school studyblrs who are much more motivated than i will probably ever be, but i would LOVE more older studyblrs on my dashboard (esp as i am abt to be applying to grad school)
so PLEASE like/reblog this post if youre a college studyblr
some general tips for people with executive dysfunction
1. invest in a can of dry shampoo!!! they’re not particularly expensive (mine is batiste brand, i got it for $8). showering a lot can suck for low energy people, esp people who are trying to get their hair to adjust to getting washed less offten (hair gets oily very quickly after long periods of being washed every day) and this can save lot of time while also making you feel clean!!
2. BANANAS ARE A GODSEND. i get very sick in the morning, and im also perpetually low on energy, which usually makes me opt out of breakfast. but bananas are quick, easy, filling, and (fun fact) make you less nauseous somehow? idk. they’re great. if you never eat breakfast like me, try to start buying bananas more often as its a really good backup
(this one’s kind of big so ill break it down so its easier to read)
3. clean stuff as soon as possible rather than waiting for it to build up. it doesn’t have to be huge, time consuming tasks. just small steps to save yourself from some stress in the future.
pick up clothes from the floor the second you take it off and put it in the washing machine. you don’t have to turn it on or do the washing now, but now its off your floor which is great!
throw stuff in the trash can the first time around instead of having it pile up. take empty cups/plates into the kitchen right away (you can go around the house, or even just your room and pick up dishes whenever you need to take a break from working or studying)
quickly do your bed first thing!! it doesn’t have to be extremely neat, honestly just dust off your covers, fold it at the foot of your bed and fluff your pillows a bit!! it took a minute but now your room looks a lot cleaner!
4. break up everything into small tasks/create routines that are very specific! my example will be showering.
when i shower, i break it up into very very specific parts. the first thing, probably the hardest, is getting myself in the shower. focusing on how showering is not a stressful activity, how it feels good and how good you feel after can definitely minimize the amount of time i spend psyching myself to get up, as overtime the idea of showering becomes an intrinsic part of your day rather than a task or chore.
after i get myself in, the hardest part’s done, and i can relax. i do my routine, which at this point, has become a no brainer. my routine is: shampoo, conditioner (but i dont wash it out), body wash/soap, face wash, brushing my teeth (yes i brush my teeth in the shower fuck off two birds with one stone), and then finally i wash the conditioner out! this is weird but if im done extra quickly, i’ll let myself just stand there until the water runs cold bc idk i really like showering??
starting a new routine is always difficult but just stick with it. you can start introducing a routine one task at a time, you can remember to just wash your hair and then get out if thats all the energy you have today. and dont be ashamed about music in the shower!!! i played music on my phone in the shower every day for a year maybe? ive stopped now bc my last phone’s headphone port broke bc of water damage but anyway thats not relevant
5. keeping a calendar and planner is great in feeling good and organized. you dont have to get a super expensive bullet journal, just start small. i got my current calendar as a christmas gift (theres food puns every month i love it) and my school provides planners. dont feel obligated to use it EVERY DAY and constantly have the best handwriting. just keep it on your desk in class and at home for whenever you need it
6. music and podcasts are good for any time. waking up but feeling super anxious and you dont want to get up? music/podcasts drown out your thoughts and can help you start your day in a nice way. studying and feeling really bored and annoyed?? listen to your favorite songs. trying to go to sleep but your annoying brain wont shut up? nice chill podcasts, or even just longish youtube videos help.
music (especially instrumental music) is best for when you need to think and focus on a task. podcasts are good for menial tasks that dont require you to think that much, as podcasts are more engaging and have you focus on something so you feel less bored/procrastinatey!!!
my favorite songs to listen to when studying are actually playlists ive made! (here and here) and my podcast/video recommendations are off topic and grumpcasts/long game grumps videos, but i understand that this isnt for everyone (cw: lots of swearing, dark humor, stupid casual racism/sexism/transphobia/ableism but its just something i put up with bc i really like michael jones)
i can’t really think of anything else right now!! these are just all the things i do that actually do help a lot
i see lots of sentiment in the studyblr community that basically says “your future self wont be pleased with your pathetic excuses right now :)” and stuff like that and just…please remember that executive dysfunction is never “just an excuse”, it is a legitimate reason for not being able to complete tasks. feeling frustrated with yourself is normal, but you should never be made to feel guilty for not being able to do something, no matter how menial or how crucial. you’re great and you can do this <3
day 10
i swept, mopped, did the dishes, and cleaned up a cabinet!!! :)
