Right.. The Pridelands.. It seemed like such a nice place… A lot nicer than the Outlands, but… Rules were rules, weren’t they.. He stopped a moment to scratch an itch, and he knew Nuka had a point. But then-

“Huh? Oh, uh… I don’t.. I don’t really got a clan.. I don’t really got anybody..” His ears drooped a bit, as did the rest of his posture. He was alone.. No family, no clan.. Just himself.

At this, the older male paused in his walking to look at the cub fully. He’s got no one? But he’s so little.... Nuka frowned. He didn’t wanna say he was starting to feel for the thing but....

Clearing his throat, he took a few slow steps forward in a subtle sign to keep moving while also pacing himself to allow Dhambi to catch up. Not exactly wanting to hear the details of how he got to be by himself, Nuka opted to change the subject. “So, uh, you got a name or should I just call you ‘Lonely’?”

Well.. Yeah, actually that made sense. And he was kind of hungry, so.. Tagging along with a lion wasn’t a half bad idea, maybe. He didn’t want to be alone anyway.

“Yeah. Yeah, I get it.” He nodded, picking up the pace just a little, doing his best to keep up. “So.. How far do you think we gotta go?”

Nuka couldn’t help but inwardly attempt to imagine his mother’s reaction to seeing him with a hyena. With all her Scar worship, maybe she’d make a connection between Scar and himself and dump the plan with Kovu! Maybe he should keep the kid around after all...

“Huh?” The scruffy lion shook himself from his thoughts, an ear swiveling to better hear the cub. “Uh, until the border to the Pridelands, I guess. We aren’t allowed in since I’m an Outsider and you’re... a hyena. What clan are you from, anyway?”

Nuka didn’t even give Dhambi a backwards glance. He hadn’t meant to let the cub tag along with him but he was kind of lonely and no one wanted to scavenge with him, so a lone hyena cub would have to do for companionship for the time being.

“We’re fine. There’s not a lot of food in the Outlands so we’re looking around. Sometimes animals get lost and die out here, which means food for us. Get it?”
