There are so many reasons to keep going! Here are just a few.

I have so many feelings over this one gif, because Feren genuinely upset to see Prince and King cross swords. The way his eyes subtly and gently move to Thranduil, there is a genuine concern in the small look, it makes me think he has been at the King’s side for a long time. Has probably seen father and son go through so much pain. 

Feren is also obviously not just a captain of a patrol or regiment, it’s clear from his attire that he is in the Royal Guard. But his position in that seems to be higher/extremely specific itself. Feren’s armor is very reminiscent of Thranduil’s own, pitching even among the Guard toward silvers with gold detailing rather then the outright burnished gold of the Mirkwood general forces. There is a very good chance that he is not only head of the Royal Guard but perhaps even a personal bodyguard for the King. Hence why, even throughout such a chaotic battle, he nearly always seems to be on Thranduil’s heels. His entire role would be to keep the King safe. He also has the horn at his hip to signal/relay the King’s orders to the rest of the Mirkwood army. Something he is seen using twice throughout the movie - once under Thranduil’s orders and once under Legolas’.

The fact the he is often sent with Legolas also says a fair amount to his possible station too - he follows Legolas after dwarves initial escape and then is later sent by Thranduil to order Legolas’ return home. The latter being the most curious…because why send a member of the Guard to fetch him? Why not send a scout or tracker ect? It would seem more logical, yet Thranduil sends him. 

It gives me thought that perhaps Feren was part of the Royal Guard long before the Queen was killed. It’s also mentioned that young Legolas was possibly with his mother when she was attacked, that she died protecting him….thus I could 100% get behind the possible idea of Feren being there when she was ambushed/attacked. To build upon it even further, it could be suggested that little Legolas got away from such an attack because his mother ordered Feren to take him and get him safely back home while she and some of the Guard held their attackers off. It would make so much sense as to why this one particular elf always seems to be around the Royals and is the one who Thranduil tasks with seeking Legolas out.  Because on one of the most terrible days in his long life, Feren had kept his son safe. Because he had brought his son back home safely once before.

Pacific Rim AU where MACH 10 is the new jaeger Rooster has been assigned to pilot. He needs a partner and Maverick calls in Hangman to test-run drifting. Shocking both of them.

They are surprisingly compatible, though. Finding out they had feelings for each other the entire time, but were doing the whole angsty bit and being oblivious. What better time to confess love to one another than during a Kaiju invasion?
