the soft golden light of the sun peaking through gaps in the curtains wakes you, slowly stirring you from the depths of unconsciousness. a content hum coils from your throat at the satisfaction of your natural awakening, and you roll over onto your side with a deep stretch— extending your arms wayyy above your head, but the frigid chill of the air quickly rescinds them back under the covers.
your eyes finally flit open after a couple minutes of savouring sleep, revealing the bright light streaking through the room like a warm hug on a cold morning.
despite the blur of sleep in your eyes— that you try to blink away— you can still see the figure laying next to you on his stomach. lin, you guess. one of his arms is tucked under his pillow, out of your sight, and the other is resting on your thigh underneath the blanket.
you went to bed alone last night, as lin was out on a mission. you tried your best to stay up and wait for him but you were so tired you almost fell asleep on the couch.
safe to say you were over the moon to be waking up beside him.
the stinging bite of cold air makes you snuggle closer to him, tucking every body part except your face under the warm duvet. lin, despite still being asleep, reacts to the feeling of your body and slides an arm over your waist.
you smile, slowly running a hand through his dark hair, gently coaxing him to wake up— he doesn't, only groaning in disagreement before rolling over to unintentionally face you.
"lin, baby..." you whisper into his ear, pressing a light kiss to his warm cheek. another groan leaves his mouth, protesting consciousness, and he tugs your body closer to him. you giggle, wrapping your arms around him in a love-filled embrace, "c'mon, we have to get up."
"ugh—" his eyes briefly flutter awake, squinting to adjust to the light in the room before he decides to just close them again, "five more minutes."
"sorry, sweetheart, but we have to meet with peter in..." you turn your head back to look at the clock on the nightstand, "two hours."
lin just groans, burying his head into your neck and wrapping his arms tighter around you, trapping you in his embrace.
you giggle, struggling to escape his hold and get on with the day, but his arms never budge. you eventually give up trying and huff a quiet "fine" into the mess of his hair, snaking your hands up the warm skin of his neck to play with the silky locks that your chin rests on— tugging and twirling the dark strands through your fingers.
he hums contentedly, pulling you impossibly closer as his eyes slowly flick shut again— surrendering to the warm embrace of sleep without your nagging in his ear. you begrudgingly decide to follow suit, letting your own eyes flutter closed with a promise to yourself that you'd wake up again in five minutes.
which is a lie, obviously.
you two sleep for hours; accidently skipping your intended meetup with peter, who worriedly shows up at your apartment after his texts go unanswered. when he lands on the metal fire escape outside your bedroom window and sees you and lin curled up fast asleep under a couple of blankets, he scoffs, chuckling under the thin spider mask before turning around and swinging back into the city— deciding to shoot you both a text to rearrange the meetup instead.
I finally saw hope after seeing my favourite fic writer post an Ironfist fanfic, that fic lowkey boosted my mood to finish my homework and to remind me that I WILL GET INTO THA NURSING COURSE
