**Link for the poll is at the end of this post** For Doll North 2019, we want to see fashion fashion fashion! Doll North will be hosting our very own version of the MET Ball, and we need help choosing our first theme! Your challenge will be to create avant-garde, haute couture styles for the runway based on the winning theme. Think big! Wild! Unique! We want to see just how fashionable your dolls can really be! Our possible themes are: Heavenly Bodies: Fierce Dieties. We'd love to see fierce and ferocious gods, goddesses, priestesses, prophets and seers imagined as red carpet worthy looks. This theme will be specifically looking for fictional inspiration. Take a deity from your favourite video game, or create your own, but we'd like to avoid creating deities from cultures that do not approve of iconography or unofficial representations! Punk: From Chaos to Culture Once counter-culture and anti-materialistic, Punk has come a long way - and means a great deal of different styles than it once did! Show us how your doll might step out to shock and surprise the crowd and show their own unique style! Dark Carnival Be it the circus or Mardi Gras, popular amusement often isn't considered cultured, refined or fashionable. So prove them wrong! Take an iconic look and turn it into a showstopping number, or create something that has all the whimsy and mystery of the circus sideshow or Mardi Gras late night. But remember - we're looking for something just a little dark, gloomy, or twisted..... Warriors of Light: What if your pantsuit was a suit of armor? What if the gold around your wrists also stopped bullets? Show us your glamorous warriors, your fiercest fighters, your dazzling paladins. What would Diana, Princess of Themyscira wear to the MET? What would a Queen of the Dragons don to upstage all her rivals? How will your doll showcase those who fight for light, justice, and truth? 20th Century fashion: We've seen so much change from 1901 to 2001 and it's been reflected in our fashion. So this theme is really that open - pick a specific dress, or a designer, or a fad or fashion trend and use that to inspire your runway look - but remember to make it MET worthy! We've created a pinterest board of inspiration for you for each theme, so if you're not sure what it might look or feel like, you can take a gander and see which theme speaks to you here: https://ift.tt/2zs6ujS Also - for those not sure about what the MET Gala is, it's a red carpet event that is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art (and also celebrates the Costume Institute's newest exhibition of that year.) Folks show up and usually try to wear something stand-out, possibly ridiculous, and hopefully to theme. Do you remember Bjork's swan dress? That would have fit right in. Or you can look up past MET Gala's for inspiration. Two of our pinterest galleries are full of images from previous Galas since we 'borrowed' the theme - Heavenly Bodies and Punk!
