The smell of freshly washed linen fills your nostrils as soon as you enter your new campus room. This one is larger than last year's, which you're happy about if not for the glaring difference: no roommate’s luggage by the second bed.
You sigh in defeat as you look around, already well aware your father made arrangements so you wouldn't share your room with anyone this semester. For security purposes, he says.
“Anything you need, ma’am?” Agent Kennedy asks from his spot by the door—because of course he's here. His own room is just down the hall, in fact.
How convenient.
“Yes, actually. I’d love my dignity back, but I don't suppose you have that?”
He frowns at your sarcastic request, exhaling in exasperation like he's already growing tired of your nonsense. “What is that supposed to mean?”
You sit on the bed positioned to the right with a huff. “Come on, don't be obtuse. Is this not humiliating to you? I already only have, like, three friends, and two of them don't even go here. Now I don't even get a roommate?”
His eyes dart around the room, pausing on the empty bed opposite you. “I thought kids liked it better without roommates. You get the place all to yourself,” he shrugs.
“Sure, in normal circumstances. Not when my own dad makes the decision to keep me isolated.”
It's ridiculous how he doesn't understand yet just how caged you constantly feel. He doesn't even look you in the eye, like your complaints are too trivial to take seriously. Or, wait… is that a look of guilt?
“Hold on… was this your idea?” you gasp in sudden realization.
“What?” he gulps like the guiltiest of suspects.
You suddenly stand, eyes wide, “You told him to do this, didn't you?”
The agent stays quiet for a moment, shifting uncomfortably in his spot, until he finally meets your blazing gaze. “Only for your safety—”
“Ugh! I knew it!” you point an accusing finger, feeling utterly betrayed.
With his hands raised, he attempts to diffuse the tension. “Look, ma’am, I’m only doing my job—”
“Stop calling me that!” you cut him off, your frustration climbing to unprecedented levels. “You don't get to be patronizing while also calling me that. I’m either a clueless kid, or an adult you call ‘ma’am,’ so just pick a lane!”
Leon winces, growing more than tired of your constant complaining and the raising of your voice. He walks closer, blue eyes darkening in irritation, until he's an arm’s length away.
“I am not being patronizing. I am being a professional, while you insist on constantly acting like a brat.”
The moment he grits out the insult, your eyes widen in disbelief, rendered completely speechless. You wait for him to take it back, apologize, or pretend it was just a joke, but he does none of that. Instead he gets even closer, his voice dropping to a lower octave that makes something inside you squirm.
“Yeah, I said it,” he murmurs, his ice blues flickering to your lips for a split second. “You're a brat.”
Your pulse quickens, blood rushing to your ears when heat pools in your gut. You don't know why your body is reacting this way to him berating you, of all things, but you can't stop yourself from leaning an inch closer just to smell his cologne better.
“H-how dare you—” you attempt a retort, but it's instantly cut short.
“Oh, I dare, ma’am…” The warmth of his breath fans on your face as he taunts, “In fact, I think it's about time someone told you exactly that.”
He’s so close now, any effort at not looking at his lips is futile. They're so plump, so tempting, you have to clench your fists to keep yourself from doing something incredibly stupid. Since when have you become so vain than you’re getting this worked up simply because a guy is hot? Okay, really hot. But still, you don't even like the dude. You’re not supposed to want to yank him by the collar and kiss the shit out of him just to shut him up. God, he's fucking infuriating.
While your mind runs a hundred miles an hour, you catch the little shit smirking faintly at your flustered expression. Can he tell how much he's affecting you? Yeah, fuck no, you're not letting him think he won.
“And what the hell are you going to do about it?” you suddenly snap, eyes narrowed. “Technically, I’m still your boss.”
His smirk momentarily falters, only to be replaced by an even cockier one. He tilts his head, his gaze roaming your face in a way that makes you feel tiny under the cobalt blue of his irises.
“My boss?” he mocks, “funny, because last time I checked I’m the one who tells you what to do.”
Aaaand checkmate. The asshole knows you can't argue with that. He does in fact get to dictate your every action for the time being, while you remain a spectator in your own world.
Your expression drops from taunting to plain sad, feeling the fog from whatever tension was present a moment ago dissipate. You take a step back to put a healthy distance between the two of you.
“Yeah? Well I’m sorry to tell you that doesn't make you special, it just adds you to the long list of people controlling my life,” you grit out before turning on your heel in the direction of the bathroom.
Leon, who finds himself once again completely blindsided by your sudden mood shift, blinks at your retreating figure with a frown.
“Where are you going?” he asks, already walking to catch up.
It only makes you that much more frustrated.
You pause just to huff in annoyance past your shoulder, “I need to pee. Don't tell me you need to watch me do that too!”
And just like that, you're storming away on stomping feet, leaving him standing alone in the echo of your door slamming. He exhales deeply, shaking his head with a tsk.
“Well, that went well…”
~.~.~.~
As classes begin, you find yourself starting to become busy, but not busy enough you don't notice a certain blond agent’s absence. Ever since that argument in your room, you have been accompanied by other security personnel while he remains God knows where. You even asked Morales about him, and he said, “Kennedy must have a lot on his plate as the new Detail Lead.” Sounds like bullshit to you.
Davis never got this busy when he was in the position, so you’d know. Not that you care or anything. It's better like this anyway, it almost feels like the usual routine with the usual agents by your side, instead of a stupidly attractive asshole.
You like to pretend you're not constantly thinking about him until Maya brings him up. She's sitting across from you in the cafeteria, sipping on a tall, green smoothie while mindlessly looking over the security men dressed in civilian clothing in an effort to blend in.
“Hey, where's the hot one?” she suddenly asks curiously.
Naturally, you know exactly who she means. But you choose to pretend otherwise. “Who?”
“Oh, come on,” she rolls her eyes, “if I say the hot one you already know who the hot one is.”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it… I don't know, he's been busy.”
She huffs at your shrug, tossing her long braids behind her shoulder. “Doing what?”
“I don’t know, being an agent?”
“Sounds boring to me.”
“If you heard him talk, you’d think there's an alien invasion coming. I can't believe he tried to cancel our Friday pla—”
“Oh, my God! Oh, my God!” you’re suddenly interrupted by an excited shrill as Maya grips your forearm tight.
“What? What is it?” you turn to see what has gotten her so restless out of nowhere.
“Alex is coming this way!”
Your eyes widen, “Wait, what?”
Indeed, you spot the man in question as he walks to your table, in all his six-foot-two glory. Alex Kim, the super popular jock you rejected last semester because you found it suspicious that he hung out with your ex. You didn't want to risk another heartbreak caused by your unwillingness to hand out White House internships. Although in his case it would be more like getting him noticed by the NFL or something. Still, you appreciated how he took the rejection in stride—he never made things weird.
“Ladies,” he grins once he comes to a towering stand over your table. “How’s it going?”
Your eyes immediately dart to the sliver of midriff peaking between his crewneck top and low rise jeans. Jesus—is he not wearing underwear?
“Uh, g-good. It’s going good,” you stutter before clearing your throat.
“Alex! How was your summer?” Maya chirps in.
“Pretty boring, honestly. Just spent my days training and catching up on classes. You know how it is for the team.”
“Damn, football’s no joke,” she shakes her head. “So you guys really don't get a break?”
“Gotta stay in shape for the season,” he shrugs his broad shoulders before scratching the back of his neck, the motion making his bicep bulge out and his shirt ride further up. “But it doesn't mean we don't get to have fun too…” he smirks your way.
You can feel your face grow hot in real time, prompting you to change topics swiftly. “When’s the home opener again?"
“Next Saturday. You two are gonna be there, right?” he throws another glance your way.
“Of course. Wouldn't wanna miss it.”
“Great! I’ll keep an eye out for you, then,” he winks with pearly whites.
The second he turns his back to leave the way he came, Maya is squeaking in your ear about how ‘he totally still has a crush on you.’
~.~.~.~
“When we talk about government response to a crisis, we tend to imagine that the difficult part is deciding what to do. In reality, it isn't.”
Professor Delaney paces in front of the blackboard, his footsteps echoing in the quiet lecture hall. He’s one of those teachers that are able to command a room easily, his voice carrying on and captivating attention without the need to raise it.
You sit in the third row, pen in hand, letting your eyes drift over the high ceiling of the ancient building. Sometimes you pause just to think of how crazy it is that these walls were built three centuries ago, and you wonder how many students sat in these very same halls, bored out of their minds like you tend to be during Political Science class. You’ve simply had enough of the topic as is—everytime you hear the word ‘government’ you're instantly reminded of your father.
You exhale silently, honing your focus back on the professor who's still pacing slowly. “The true difficult part is choosing who bears the cost of these decisions.”
Right at that moment, the door in the back opens with a loud click, and quiet footsteps shuffle along the linoleum floor. You don't pay it mind, thinking it must simply be a tardy student. Until, you see people around you turning one by one, their eyes fixated on the rear of the class and some even whispering to each other with little giggles.
Curiosity takes the best out of you and you turn, just to find Agent Kennedy exchanging spots with Morales—seemingly taking over his shift. And, unsurprisingly, the hushed snickers are all about how hot the ‘new guy’ looks, because fucking hell, he just had to look like that.
Apparently, Leon Kennedy’s version of blending in is to look like a model—or maybe he just wakes up looking that good, unfortunately for you. Dressed in a simple baseball tee with the sleeves rolled up and low waisted cargo pants, he looks infuriatingly beautiful and apparently everyone else agrees too.
Even he seems to have noticed the attention if his fleeting gaze is anything to go by. When his eyes land on you, however, they lock on your face intently, and you’re forced to look away before melting in your spot.
Damn him and his baby blues.
Professor Delaney clears his throat to command the class’s focus back on him before continuing the lecture. You’re grateful for his redirection, and choose to concentrate on his words to not show how affected you are at seeing the agent after days.
“Now, once a crisis has settled, the government might make decisions to improve safety and security, as well as ensure a better response in the future. Can someone give me an example of positive change made as a result of a crisis?”
A few students raise their hands, you included, hoping that class participation will earn you some good points after you spent the last half hour gazing at the ornate ceiling.
“Miss Graham,” the silver haired man nods your way.
“Um, after the Raccoon City Incident, the government worked on improving interagency coordination… A clearer chain of command, improved communication… Things that make local police and emergency services work better together.”
In the quietness of the room, you hear a barely audible low huff from behind you, but you don't pay it mind as the professor responds.
“That is a good example and one that is not often talked about. Before the incident, agencies weren't prepared well to operate under one unified emergency command. Any other examples you’d like to add?”
You take a split moment to think, putting your thoughts together as you recall the things you’ve been taught in school and by the news about the disaster from six years ago. You had only been fifteen back then.
“There have been efforts put in place to improve emergency evacuation protocols… Oh, and also stronger biological-threat preparedness.”
This time, you fully hear it—a dry chuckle from the back of the lecture hall that prompts you and other students to turn around. You find the same blond man that makes it a mission to get on your nerves shaking his head in disapproval, before realizing his reaction has attracted unwarranted staring.
He quickly clears his throat, pink dusting his cheeks as he mutters a low, “S’cuse me,” before sinking lower into his seat in embarrassment.
Real smooth, Kennedy.
~.~.~.~
You confront him the second you're able to once the lecture finishes, right as you step into a quiet corner of the grand library with him and two more agents on your tail.
“I need space,” you suddenly mutter as you whip around to look at the three men.
Leon frowns, pausing in his steps before nodding slowly, “We’ll stay back while you study.”
“No, not you. I need to talk to you.”
You don't offer further explanation before turning on your heels to walk away, forcing him to catch up with a light jog. He’s already mentally preparing for another one of your outbursts, rolling his eyes in advance.
“What is it now?” he sighs when you chuck your bag on a deserted table.
Oh, the gall for him to give you attitude.
Placing your hands on your hips, you scowl in utter indignation. “So it's not enough to act as a social repellent everywhere I go, but now you also laugh at my performance in class?”
“First of all, I wasn't even around you to be a social repellent, and second of all, I wasn't laughing,” he deadpans.
That earns him a scoff, “Seriously?”
He can only keep up the stoic façade for so long before giving up. “Okay, fine, maybe I was. But only because what you said was completely ridiculous.”
You narrow your eyes at his confident claim, then give him your most sarcastic smile. “Oh, please, enlighten me, Mr. Kennedy.”
Leon’s eye twitches from your patronizing demeanor—he thought he got rid of that when he called you a brat last time. But maybe disappearing for days out of sheer mortification from how his dick got hard during that argument was counter productive.
He steps closer as if he's sharing a secret, his tone suddenly serious. “You said the government owned up to its mistakes? Are you really that naive? Pardon my language, ma’am, but they didn't do shit.”
You blink, not having expected such honest, rebellious views from a man who serves the head of state.
You clear your throat, putting your best PR voice. “There have been law reforms, compensations to the families of the affected, sensibilization campaigns…” You list the improvements you have come to learn about, some put in place by your own father. “I mean, of course it's not enough to make up for what happened, but you can't deny efforts have been made.”
He stares at you for a moment with a look akin to pity before shaking his head slowly. He knows he's treading dangerous waters when he whispers, “Efforts don't mean anything if they're the ones who caused the problem to begin with.”
“I’m sorry?” The look of confusion on your face tells him everything.
As expected, you don’t know shit despite the countless witness accounts and statements that prove the government’s involvement. But he’s not surprised. You weren't exactly raised to receive the most objective of truths. It’s why he feels sorry over your naivety more than anything.
“I mean they weren't prepared…” he rectifies with a half-truth. “They should have been on Umbrella’s back from the start.”
He doesn't go into the details about the very real and very catastrophic involvement of the state in bioweapon manufacturing that blew up in their face. It's not like he can disclose that to begin with.
“Okay, yeah, we can agree on that,” you finally ease up with a nod.
“Okay… Cool.”
“Cool.”
A long, awkward pause passes where you both stare at the wooden floor, the endless bookshelves, and quite literally anything but each other.
Finally, you break the silence. “You know, I would call you a conspiracy theorist, but you don't look like the type.”
Leon chuckles softly, meeting your gaze with amusement. “I’m glad you figured that out.”
“Hey, stop being such a smartass all the time,” you grumble. “Even if I agree with you, it doesn't mean you can laugh at me in class.”
He clicks his tongue, shaking his head in denial, “I wasn't laughing at you.”
“Yeah, well, you certainly act like you know better than everyone.” You cross your arms in challenge, your posture stiff as you look him up and down like you're just waiting for him to retort.
Instead, his voice grows calmer, a barely noticeable hint of sadness in his tone. “Maybe it's because I do...”
You would laugh in his face if not for the slump of his shoulders. He looks defeated, haunted even, and it makes you instantly soften up.
“What do you mean?” you ask in a curious murmur.
Leon isn't sure if this is a good idea or if his weak heart is tricking him into acting like a fool. But whether he likes it or not he seems to have begrudgingly developed a soft spot for you, and the need to open up comes naturally. He was never disallowed to say he survived. He just can't speak of the outrageous details.
“I was there,” he finally admits, the words tasting bitter on his tongue. “Six years ago—I was there.”
Next chapter coming soon.
the cop inside him died that day ://

While looking at Leon's Villain costume in RE4R, I realized he reminded me of Howl's monster form, so I decided to compare the two characters with a dash of x Reader shenanigans. 💞
Like Howl who grew up to be one of the most powerful wizards of the land, Leon is exceptionally skilled in his own area of expertise; combat and survival. Because of that, many sought to recruit Howl for his abilities, from the king to fellow sorcerers, just like Leon with the unfeeling government.
Both men hate the fight but are forced to carry it.
Wizard!Leon is so infamously pretty, to the point many suspect his real identity whenever they see him in his lavish attire. That, in addition to escaping enemies, is one of the reasons he adopts other aliases and diguises his appearance most times.
Wizard!Leon has many rumors circulating about him, including the legend that he charms beautiful women to eat their hearts. In reality, he wouldn't harm an innocent soul.
In fact, Wizard!Leon has a peculiar 'curse.' The women he pursues all find him awkward, but the ones he doesn't try to charm are the ones most enamored. The situation causes a lot of broken hearts, especially as he ventures the land to find the girl he met many years ago.
As a child, Wizard!Leon made a pact with a fallen star called Calcifer; the latter was granted Leon's long lifespan and offered in return immense power in an exchange of hearts. At that moment, however, they witnessed the apparition of a silver haired young woman who said she would come to help. Ever since, Leon has tried to find her again.
That quest is what leads Wizard!Leon to date many women in hopes to find his dream girl, only to jilt them in the end. The magical abilities of his home, The Moving Castle, helps him greatly when it comes to fleeing his forgotten conquests, with the help of Calcifer who serves as a motor for the walking home.
Wizard!Leon's greatest flaw is his vanity. Aware of his attractive physical attributes, he spends a great deal caring for his hair, his clothes, and his expensive accessories. It's why he gets to angry when the new maid, an old lady who stumbled into his castle when he was away, mixes his hair products while doing a spring clean. The result is ginger hair dye instead of shampoo.
Wizard!Leon throws a tantrum in his bath towel, before falling into a deeply sorrowed state at the notion that he is no longer beautiful, and he even questions the point of living. This upsets the old woman since she believes she has never been beautiful, causing her to break down into sobs.
However, Wizard!Leon is so stuck in his own grief that he calls on the Spirits of Darkness, which results in his body slowly getting covered in a thick, green slime, mirroring his inner feelings.
The old woman, despite being hurt, still decides to help Wizard!Leon by carrying his half naked body to the bath with an arm around his waist. While going up the stairs, however, his towel falls off which offers her a view of his entirely barren body. She darts her gaze away immediately in mortification.
Wizard!Leon rests in his densely decorated room after his bath, with his hair now a raven black—its natural color. The woman stays by his side until he wakes, and that's when he finally confides to her all the reasons for his depressive state.
Despite his meticulous efforts to remain uninvolved in the country's war, Wizard!Leon has been forced to battle time and time again, especially as of recently to protect his home and its inhabitants. Now, he wishes for the elderly lady to help him, which she agrees to do.
After putting herself in danger for him, Wizard!Leon finally decides to stop being coward who hides and conceals himself to avoid conflict. He assures her he will do his best to end the war once and for all and flies away to battle the warships.
Wizard!Leon transforms into a feathered beast every time he uses intense magical abilities to fight, and unbeknownst to the woman, he risks being stuck permanently in that monstrous state if he keeps turning into one. When Calcifer informs her of this, she becomes even more protective of Leon and begs him to stay when he comes back bruised and battered.
His beastly form is frightening, but the woman, now resembling a girl more than a senior, clings to him in despair. Unfortunately, Wizard!Leon does not understand that fighting in the war is not the way to end it, and it's only causing him to lose more of himself, no matter his wish not to pick sides.
While he's gone, the castle falls apart as more of Calcifer's strength is depleted due to Wizard!Leon's intense use of magic. The woman, in tears over his departure, is afforded a vision of a young Leon when he first met Calcifer on a brightly lit night where shooting stars covered the skies. She speaks to him, telling him to wait for her in the future as she will do everything to help him.
It's only through a great deal of courage that the young woman is able to rescue Wizard!Leon from imminent death. With the help of Calcifer and other friends, she restores Leon's heart to his chest, and therefore frees him from the beastly curse, all while awarding the fallen star his freedom back. The girl's kindness, one she consistently extends to all those around her, also results in bringing back the long lost prince of the kingdom who assures her he will end the war now that he's returned.
In the end, Wizard!Leon understands she was the girl he had been looking for all these years, cursed to appear old despite being young. Her rejuvenated state along with her silver hair shining in the bright sunlight of the mountains is ultimate proof. In truth, he never cared for her age, as he loves her so much, he always found her beautiful. The joy he feels in his heart from the relief of the war ending and finding the woman of his dreams is so immense, Leon can only wrap cradle her face and kiss her lips tenderly in celebration.
so this was different #trynewthings lmao i spent the whole day on this writing and screenshotting and editing, i hope you guys liked this headcanon? really bad summary of an amazing movie? idk what this is either, but thanks for reading nonetheless 🫶
I am so so tired of subtle racism and microaggressions among Leon fans, its so so tiring. And nobody talks about it.
Like heres an example, I am not the original commenter but I came across this Leon writer who responded quite poorly to this innocent comment, trying to educate her. Even I was ignorant of the fact that this term was used to justify colonization and instead of a simple “Thank you for letting me know”, this writer responded with “Woof get this attitude off my page” and deleted those comments and even went as far as to make a text post calling yourself a victim, which is not true?
I just needed to vent about this, it makes me so sad to see and every time I read or engage in Leon works I worry I am accidentally supporting a racist, this is not the first time unfortunately. I'm already preparing for the other white women to defend this behavior in the comments.
We understand that such behavior makes the fandom space uncomfortable and hostile. Once informed, it is up to an individual to choose how they want to address such information and behave going forward.
i am actually so sick of people, particularly white people since this a very common phenomenon in their community: claiming they’re in solidarity with any minority, only to become cagey and make excuses once they’re called out or simply educated for their unintentional (or intentional) racism.
they refuse to apologize and simply go, “oh my bad, I wasn’t aware I’ll change it.” bam done…no excuses, no ignoring *actual* concerns from the community you offended, no doubling down because the person who informed you was being a bit snappy cause that is besides the bigger picture.
I deal with this behavior in my real life quite often, and not just with white people! friends claim to be “an ally” of me or whatever minority group. but when it really comes down to it, they are the first to double down, villainize you like MAGA media does, and treat you like your hysterical for calling them out.
I could be an “unproblematic” blog and not address this, but fuck it dawg this is my blog space, and I need to make it clear within this very inherently ignorant and bigoted fandom that I don’t condone this dismissive and hypocritical behavior at all. It’s tone deaf and so goddamn performative.
this confessional blog space where “everyone’s opinions are welcomed”, is equally as annoying as that particular blog where “no bigotry is tolerated” as their corporate ass responses glaze over and protect these writers, remaining concerningly neutral whenever a genuine concern like this is shared.
im not telling anyone to send these people hate. if someone doesn’t want to change and refuses to acknowledge their behavior, that’s their (stupid) choice.
but I will encourage my followers who are part of any minority group to be mindful of who they follow and which blog spaces they’re actually welcomed in.
