i remembered one! or kinda two.

- i (?) was in a snowy field with limited space like a plateau, but one end was arched upwards with a stone tower or small castle looking building. it was difficult to see because of a blizzard. a humanoid creature awoke from a hundred year hibernation inflicted on him by monk-scientists. it was reminiscent of zeiram but maybe a little more human looking. this creature could only die of it was incinerated completely, down to its last cells, and hated the monks that created him and forced him to sleep. he stalked through the snow to kill anyone in his path and i trudged along, trying to find places to hide, but had to backtrack or loop back around the plateau whenever he got close.

- i’m not sure where i was, but i’ve been in this particular neighborhood before in a dream in a similar situation. i was looking for a comfortable place to make a temporary home for myself and found two very old abandoned houses. one seemed more promising in that it had a complete room and was more intact, but i chose the other instead. the house i picked was in worse shape and was open with fallen wood beams like a barn and a big bright window from floor to roof with sunlight coming in. i chose the only spot that made sense, which was an open platform connected by a set of stairs. the platform had plenty of space for me to make a bed on the floor and a few extra feet along the side, and had an old cast iron stove mounted on it. the stove looked like it burned wood but actually had a ceramic radiator with a dial on it. the house seemed instantly comfortable and i felt safe and happy. there was a long, short dresser on the ground floor in front of the window that i could see from my platform. i went to it and looked through the clutter, dust and broken pieces of collapsed wood and found a broken disk of caked powder. it was white with very faint blue and pink tones marbled through. i didn’t know what it was but bronwyn appeared and with her makeup knowledge explained that it was a rare, expensive and antique makeup powder. i tried touch it and it smelled a bit like rose perfume, but i woke up to my alarm. i wish i had a chance to explore more.

I dreamt this time that it was cold (it is) and I was out in it with my family very Charles dickens, wearing rags. It was so god damn cold!

There was a house owned by an elderly Chinese couple. Their front yard was sheltered by a huge tree, and had lots of flowering bushes. When I went into their yard it was warmer and sunny so I would hide there to keep warm.

Then I went into an office building??? There were a lot of stores and offices but the building itself looked older, like 1920s brick and stone American city building I guess. I tried on bright pink lipstick and made my lips look too big, like I was in drag. Younger girls were giving me tips. I was still cold as hell and I got lipstick on my mask.

I’m kind of perturbed by this one

One part:

- Walking through a gloomy academic looking building (those painted block walls you know the ones) with a police officer (wtf!!) trying to find data from when I worked in research, encountering people I had met from other labs but no longer being friendly with them just engaging with them like strangers but both sides fully aware we knew each other

- These buildings are extremely not real. It’s very evident that the only parts of this building that exist are because my feet walk on them or my eyes travel down the hallway, there’s nothing else here not even floors or walls. In fact most of this room is just a catwalk with a filing cabinet. I don’t think there’s a ceiling but it’s dark above me

- Shuffling through old paperwork and trying to navigate a bizarre (not at all real) computer system to find cohort records, anesthesia and surgical documentation on ferrets and rats I had worked with

- Examining a large stairwell for ~*~mysterious doors~*~ and trying to determine their purpose

- Keycard entry hallways with disconcerting tang/sickly sweet smells like medical grade cleaners and tissue preservatives

- Trying to leave and my coat was in a room off a rooftop like a coastal tropical house and I had to pull it out from under large sedentary animals. They looked like if you crossed a wombat with an alligator. They were loafing around everywhere like pill bugs do, just totally innocuous but leaving a faint musty odor on everything they touched (including my coat)

Another part:

- Sad feelings towards things and people no longer in my life. Sorry for you, but I can no longer help you.

Not to double reblog, but this would be an interesting application to nuclear semiotics. If this sound could be preserved and serve as a proximity alarm for places that aren’t meant to be disturbed, how well would that work?

This is not a broken tornado sirin. This is a full on tornado warning sirin. The pattern is called an alternating wail. It has begun to be utilized for Two reaons. One, the normal key up sirin holds a note, and backs off slowly. If you are headphoned or doing loud work it can be hard to hear. Two, hollywood has desensitised us to the origanal sirin. It is offputting and loud, but does not create the sense of urgency needed durring an emergency.

the alternating wail was designed with a spin up and spin down, and half octive jumps timed diffrently then the patern of the primary wail. It is just off enough that it instantly makes you feel unease and danger.

Which is what its designed to warn about!

It seems to be a successor to the 90s vector art movement "Factory Pomo" that was popularized by things like corporate logos, clip art, and board games at the time.

Whereas factory pomo used harsh geometric and angular shapes inspired by russian minimalism, tribal art and industrial revolution era metalwork, the new style OP posted relies heavily on the currently trendy "calarts" cartoon style of flat colored blobby, organic shapes.

This results in something that takes the sterile, cold look of cheap digital animation and blends it with the corporate, industrial feel of factory pomo while removing all the loud shapes, vivid coloration and historic inspirations.

I think the missing link between this highly angular style and the contemporary corporate blue people is what some call the Global Village Coffehouse style or GVC ? 

Same recipe but it tried to look more “organic” and “ethnic/tribal” by rounding edges and using earth tones. It peaked during the 90′s as some kind of reaction to clean cut POMO 80′s designs but served the same purpose to corporations, appealing to a new wave of (pseudo)  environmentally aware and “global culture” friendly consumers. That’s also what you find, as i remember, in school books and pedagogical CD-ROMs at the time. It seems like the intermediate step to make corporate design look more friendly and humane
