Cody Bigley used thousands of blocks in Minecraft to build a fully functioning computer that allows users to log onto Twitter and block Markus Persson.
Since everybody on Tumblr likes Minecraft again there was a phase in like (2016 - 2017) where I just, built a bunch of houses based off floor plans I found on the internet, (with full interiors) and I’m still proud of some of them and I wanna share some of the better ones here.
do you have any tips or suggestions for semi experienced builders who want to build their skills?
1. I’d say like, try something you normally wouldn’t, like if you usually build cottages and rustic houses, try building a modern or desert build!!
2. you probably already know this but like. try to break up the build so you don’t have huge sections of space, that can be hard to detail.
3. if you’re in a desert, don’t build a nordic inspired house. try to use the tools around you to create something that fits with the environment
3.5. adding on to that, don’t just plop your house somewhere and call it a day. Try to integrate it into the terrain (eg. paths, gardens, a foundation, custom trees, a shed maybe)
4. say you’ve built a nice house, it’s got all the basics of building, good shape, good materials, depth, details, etc. but it’s missing something: colour. if you’ve just got like, cobblestone, wood, log and panes, try adding something like terracotta, flowerpots, leaves, it can REALLY improve a build.
5. finally: shape and detail. A box with nothing on it doesn’t look good. a complex shaped home with nothing on it looks okay, and a detailed box looks fine, but if you combine shapes AND detail you can make something that looks amazing. different blocks + slabs + stairs etc. can be used to detail, and as for shape, adding areas with different heights will REALLY help. so will different roofs.
if you want me to do a basic building guide + town building guide lmk!! i’d be happy to
