I’ll survive.
How did you find me anyway? I thought I’d found a good place to hide.
I'm like a cat. All claws and survival instinct. Could be hunting down mice, but this works, yeah? That your way of tellin' me to take a hike, though, sweetheart?

I’ll survive.

Um, no—someone could need my help.
I’m okay, don’t worry.
Yeah, but ya ain't gonna be able to help no one if ya worn out yerself, ya know?
"I’m not a survivor.. I’m lucky."
"Maybe if ya were lucky, ya'd be dead, eh, chief?"
I, uh—hello? I-I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t be sitting around.
Ain't no one can tell you when to sit on yer ass and when not to sit on yer ass. Ya feel like doin' it right now, keep on goin. Something wrong, sweetheart?
Ethan smiled weakly and nodded, “I don’t really know how to uh, well, talk to them.” He confessed with a slight shrug. “They, uh, seem nice.” He added, glancing over at them. “Well uh, I went on a group mission out in Boston with my old camp members, you see,” he began, trying to gather his thoughts. “I kind of got separated from the group and was lucky to run into Austin.” He was always a little embarrassed by that story. “You know the saying curiosity killed the cat? Let’s just say I’m lucky I have nine lives,” he joked.
"Sorta like high school all over again, huh? Shit, sorry. Were ya even old enough to, like, go to high school? My bad, chief. Dropped out myself," Dom replied, raising his brow before biting down on his lip. "Yeah, nice."
"Old campers, huh? Got a lott a' those myself. Never lasts, this shit. Austin's alright, though, yeah." He cracks his knuckles and the his neck, stretching his arms and allowing his muscles to settle. "Runnin' out then, are ya? Most people with nine lives do eventually. Less careful than those of us with just one."
"Not biting is always considerate." She joked with a smile. "And what was it like in Jersey?" She asked curiously. "I’ve never been there." She said with a slight pout. That had always been one of the places Fleur planned on visiting…But now, sight seeing wasn’t exactly at the top of her list
"Figure there's enough assholes out there tryin' to do it," he huffed, shrugging his shoulders. "Jersey? Sorta always looked like this even before shit went to hell. But with more smog. Same amount of corpses, though. Long story short, dun' go there." He cocked his head to one side, watching the woman as if trying to get a proper idea of her. "I know yer name, but I forgot it. Tell me again, and dun' take it the wrong way?"
Ethan shyly smiled at Dom and nodded every few minutes, to let him know his was listening. Ethan rarely spoke, especially to strangers. Even though he was also in Austin’s group, Ethan had never really interacted with Dom. Ethan chuckled at Dom’s comment about the biting, he assumed it was joke at least. “Uh, well, I’m Ethan,” he said shakily, after a moment. Uncertainty laced his words. “I’m from a small town in Maine, but I spent the last 12 or so years living in Cape Cod,” he said, thinking a lot loud a little.
"Ethan. I've seen you around. Not much of a talker, are ya? Ya know, kid, we're supposed to be minglin' with the new people. But this works too, I guess. I dun' wanna talk to 'em anyway," Dom snorted good-naturedly, crossing his arms and observing the younger man with a quirked brow. "Cape Cod and Maine? Huh. How the hell did ya end up here?"
"Yeah, 'sup? Gotta tell ya; I ain't ever been any good at this meet and greet decorum shit. Grew up in Jersey," Dom mutters with his best impression of cheer, chuckling lightly and slumping onto the hood of a parked car. Bringing up a calloused hand, he gives a halfhearted wave at whomever happens to be standing close enough to see. Deep down, he knows he really ought to give mingling a try, but hell, people come and people go. And people die. Fostering attachments beyond those he's already fostered ain't worth it anymore. "I dun' bite. I swear. Not lately, anyway."
