When Rafael wasn’t busy at the clinic or at the ranch - which wasn’t really often - he liked to walk the property that his family managed. A good portion of the many acres that were in their position were already allotted for pens and barns, but there was still a good amount of untouched land - and if it were Rafael’s call, he’d keep it that way. There was a natural beauty to it, and he found himself getting lost in it as he wandered through the property. As the trees cleared just enough that he could see a good yard ahead of him, he could see someone in the distance and he decided to approach them, slowly but carefully. “Sorry, darlin’, but these lands are on Ruiz property… I’m goin’ to have to ask you to leave.”

Sophia had been wandering the area on a walking hike that had gone awry. She carried nothing with her but a water bottle, a pen, and a notepad. All were secured to her hip by a leg holster. She had stopped to admire some of the sprawling lands and just as she thought she saw a few pens in the distance a voice called to her. "Just taking in all this natural beauty," she said, looking the man up and down. He was straight out of one of her novels. "Seems a shame to keep all of it to yourself." She peered all around them. "Passing through on a hike...just how much of this is included in the Ruiz lands?" She wasn't one to be scared away easy. Besides one of the most fascinating things was interacting with new people. She found that if you could connect with them they were more accomodating than not.
