Let us remind you of the “Protect the creators” initiative started by qbnscholar.
On Monday, June 1st no posts except the “Protect the creators” logo
It can be found in various languages here.
Please check the original post by Fern. To be found here.
What is this initiative not about?
It is not about money.
It is not about vanity.
What is this initiative about?
It is about giving all creators on Tumblr - whichever kind of art they create - the choice whether their original artwork (writing, painting, photography, you name it) they provide for free for others to reblog, can be changed by removing the captions and/or credits.
Examples: An answered ask can be reblogged, but rebloggers cannot change the original post. They can add comments, thoughts, whatever, but they CANNOT change the original post. For many photographers captions and titles are a vital part of their posts. And they should be given the choice whether their posts can be changed on a reblog or not.
Most people would agree that it is not okay to remove the author’s name from a reblogged poem or change words. Why would this be okay for photography-posts, for drawings, paintings, etc… ? Captions are part of the post.
The Tumblr guidelines are clear. Why does Tumblr make it so easy for rebloggers to act against them?
