Today we are meant to celebrate #NursesDay to acknowledge the #unsungheroes that work tirelessly day in and day out. Since spending my life with a #nurse now, I hear about there challenges on a daily basis. I've learned such a deep respect for the profession since I've been with @johno_andre who is such a dedicated #professional. He #inspires me to be a better man and even my #workethic is impacted by his drive. There has to be more to life than this. You've either said this yourself or heard someone else say this. In my opinion, when someone says this, it means they are not living a fulfilled life. Why are you not living a fulfilled life? Only you can answer that question honestly. Now try doing it without making excuses or blaming anyone. You are responsible for the outcome of your life, you are responsible for your own happiness, you are the one responsible for your destiny. If we stop confusing being significant with being popular, or fame with being effective in life, we can make a lot of progress for ourselves and others in our lives. Start small. Start making significant changes within yourself. Be that person other can look up to and want to emulate. I often walk around with a smile on my face, just because I am grateful to be alive, well, blessed and above all, whole. I can't help but notice that I get funny stares from some, but also how my smile makes other people smile. There is too much sadness and brokenness in this world. I have noticed how the word failure has become synonymous with the words; stop, quit, give up, useless, worthless, good for nothing! It's almost as if it is expected that one should become dormant, null and void; as if there is no life after a failed attempts. Failing is not a curse, nor is it ever reason enough for you to give up on yourself or your dreams. Being a success does not happen naturally. Yes talent may be a latent gift, but we still need to work what we've been given in order to be a success. There is always a fall before the rise. As a baby ypu fell a few times before you could walk. Where am I going with this? Well, in today's world of celebrity we stand on the sidelines and celebrate the success of others, ignoring the fact that they had to fail first before they could be a success. Why has it become so easy for us to give up on ourselves, yet we celebrate the success of others. Of course you have failed a few times, but is that enough reason for you to give up? Steve Jobs failed, Thomas Edison failed, Nelson Mandela failed and ended up in jail. What these 3 men have in common is that they never gave up. They availed themselves to success despite their initial perceived failure. Today we celebrate them as world changers. They are people who changed the course of life for all of us. Don't give in to failure. Allow yourself time to recover and recuperate, then dust yourself off and try again. Don't give up on yourself or your dreams just because things don't always go according to plan. Forgive yourself when you have let yourself down...get on with it and try again. One of the most most important lessons I probably have learned from my mother is to have self - respect, to love myself and to be the best man that I can be. Often the manifestation of this vital lesson came across to other people like I am conceited or even arrogant. Truth be told, I have been told a few times that I think too much of myself, especially when I was in my 20's and 30's. This made me want to shrink the man I was, and unfortunately I did. My biggest mistake was, that instead of standing out, I chose to blend in. The result was, that I became a stranger to myself and I had to rebuild my relationship with myself. I had to learn to love myself again, unconditionally. My friends, don't ever shrink who you are simply because others feel uncomfortable with themselves. Be who you truly are and remain true to yourself. As an older brother, father, friend, leader, partner I always try to lead by example. The one most powerful lesson I will proclaim to the end of my life would be to LOVE YOURSELF UNCONDITIONALLY. When you love yourself unconditionally you won't find yourself in an abusive relationship. If you love yourself unconditionally, you will not settle for less than your worth. If you love yourself unconditionally, you will do everything in your power to strengthen and further your career. If you love yourself unconditionally you will know how to stand up for yourself, without belittling the next person. If you love yourself unconditionally, you will go after your goals with everything you've got. If you love yourself unconditionally, you will not feel the need to fit in, but will see the necessity in standing out. If you love yourself unconditionally, you can receive love unconditionally. Start today by looking yourself in the eye and say (name) I love you flaws and all....I love you unconditionally. No matter what your pain or your past, loving yourself if like medicine to the soul. The reason why so many people stand in their own way, is because of their fear of rejection. We all want to be loved and accepted, so when we experience rejection it hurts and makes us question our own self worth. Often we relieve past rejection in our mind and all we remember is the hurt…or essentially how awful it made us feel.

That feeling of rejection don’t always measure up to reason. The reality of life is that rejection will always form part of our experience. We can either grow from it, or we can allow it to inhibit us and keep us from living our lives to the fullest.

It is reasonable to accept that rejection hurt, but I want to encourage you…don’t dwell too long on the pain. Allow yourself the pain of rejection (a grieving period if you like), process it then move on from it….grow from it. It also helps to talk to someone you can trust about it and maybe that person knows you well enough and is strong enough to encourage you to grow from the “painful” experience.

Again, don’t dwell on rejection or in other words don’t wallow in it. Stay on track and continue to pursue what you wished to accomplish Pre the rejection.

You are stronger than you are willing to admit!
