At the Internet's 42nd birthday party Bill Kinsman, who was at IBM, walks me through the logbook leading up to the first time a connection with a remote computer ... 3420 Boelter Hall UCLA in Los Angeles to Stanford SRI in what's now Silicon Valley ... worked. Voila, Internet! Nee ARPANET. Oct. 29, 1969. The room at UCLA where the connection was initiated is becoming the Kleinrock Internet Heritage Site and Archive.

Got a pic of the paper log entry when it finally WORKED. 3420 Boelter Hall at UCLA in Los Angeles is becoming the Kleinrock Internet Heritage Site and Archive. (Notables at this party: Charley Kline, Leonard Kleinrock and several others.)
