Sanjana in Mohabbatein looks soooo much like Jenny in Yo Soy Betty La Fea. Same face, hair, outfits, body type. I would add a photo but you need to see them emoting and moving to understand how uncanny this is.

Thoughts on Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (2000):

I can't believe I watched this entire thing believing that srk would turn out to be the second lead and then he DIDN'T

they called him to do an interval cliffhanger that gets resolved into a KKHH missing scene/cameo??? and then he comes back to play guitar in the last 5 seconds. why. iconic.

the plot was unhinged but not unhinged enough in my opinion. they could have pushed the envelope more. everyone ended up being pretty reasonable in the end.

the most insane opening sequence EVER.

all of preity Zinta's summer dresses are soooo pretty.

how is it possible that rani mukerji only gets the worst roles. did her agent hate her. the one movie that ends happily with her that i've seen is Paheli.

i've now watched 5 salman khan movies and i think he is a bit of a hit or miss. the one movie i liked was salaam-e-ishq, in which is character is incredibly minimal and poker-faced. and then he was great in kkhh ofc. but the other ones were a bit meh :/

Absolutely cannot believe that they actually traveled to Germany for the match. Imagine you are a fan of the show, watching it as it's airing and you are sad you will miss the new episodes while you travel to Germany for the Mundial. And then you meet them shooting scenes! And kissing! And you end up in one of the scenes too! How WEIRD and SURREAL would that have been.

excuse me I just stumbled on Por ella soy Eva, a Mexican telenovela starring former La fea mas bella star Jaime Camil, that is based on a Colombian telenovela starring Jorge Enrique Abello.

WHAT.

Did these two spend their entire careers swapping roles??? Am I going to find out that JEA also starred in Juana la virgen? What is going on here???

335 episodes of peak, great plot and characters no wonder it has like 200 different adaptations satisfying enough ending, but there were some plot lines that never really got closure for what I remember (Ines and her husband and Sofia and el cheque/Jenny)

While watching I was legit convinced that Inesita's husband storyline would be used to reunite Betty and Armando in the end. Like Inesita saying "oh if only he had swallowed his pride (?) and came back to explain everything to me sooner we could have been together for years but instead he is a dumbass, don't make his mistake" to betty/armando and then they decide to talk about the whole mess of their relationship. But then Gaitan forgot about it or had to cut it for runtime, so we'll never know what he meant to do with the guy.

My truest wish was to see a Patricia redemption arc TT I think she is the true plot line without closure TT

Why do you think the quality of the show dropped after Betty returned from Cartagena?

It's not really what I think but a fact of the matter: timing. They didn't have enough time to develop the characters, there was a lot of time jumps and the audience had to fill in the blanks.

It's also an intense story. The first half has a lot of lessons being taught and shown. There's high stakes, extremely thought provoking plots and characters and then the latter half, it's just a big "Will They Won't They?" story.

We finally have Betty and Armando reunited but unable to be together for few reasons(not to say they weren't valid), the main one being that Betty thinks Armando is now only interested in her because of her change in looks. Armando gets back with Marcela, and Marcela doesn't really change at all. There's no real thought provoking storylines, it's just a lot drama. The story stops existing for a purpose and becomes less intense for that reason.

We get, roughly, give or take 70 episodes of Armando and Betty's love story, roughly 77 episodes of the agony of them not being together, and 2 episodes of them finally being together, but instead of being shown the development, change, and story over all, we're told not so subtlety.

Though, as much as I give FG his flowers for creating such an amazing thought-out story...I must admit, as the seasoned writer he was, maybe he could've done better. I think adding Michelle to the mix so late in the game adds for network ratings, not the story. Michelle is such a one dimensional character that he's unlikeable in my humble opinion. He's added simply and only to instigate Armando, he exists only for that purpose, which is similar to Alejandra, she exists to prove that Armando is a changed man and only has eyes for Betty.

I think, had they brough Michelle maybe ten episodes before the finale, Armando's growth could've been shown, had they introduced Alejandra sooner, it could've helped with Marcela's story as well. So it's really just timing and pacing that makes the latter half of the novela drop in quality because it no longer thrives in the subtlety. While before time was used to enhance the story, now it's used to cut out the story.

Armando/Fernando keeps saying Nicolas/Tomas is using his money, but he forgets that the money he used to create the Terra Moda/Filmo Imagen is the payoff Betty did not take. It's not really his money. Without Betty, he wouldn't have had that capital.

Thoughts on Josh (2000), my 43rd srk movie:

Not as bad as I expected. The first half was pretty boring (and what an underwhelming intermission btw) but the second picked up and became great for 10 miraculous minutes, only to then fall in the formulaic again.

I'm talking of course about the bit between the guy finding out about Shirley and Josh's heritage and the trial scene

That bit was entirely genius and then they had to wrap it up so quickly bc that had spent the rest of the runtime on bullshit.

They also threw a bit of religion vs rationality in for the sake of it too

It was fun to see something not set in Mumbai (or Europe) for once.

That said, if my would be girlfriend ruined my livelihood I'd be on the first bus back to Mumbai never mind waiting around until her brother kills my brother and then forcing my mom to see me marry the sister of the guy who killed her son. Does that make sense as a sentence.

Pretty weird seeing srk cast in the secondary couple... I did know he was going to get his big moment though. Him flash backing to his mother while looking at the statue was the highlight of the movie to me. I did think they would have him smash the statue tho to further highlight the colonialism or something.

I'm obsessed with aishwarya rai's style in this movie. the hair and the necklace and clothes. she looks like a true to life princess wearing the wedding dress at the end. i might have to just do a watch through of her filmography once I'm done with srk

at the beginning I was convinced it would be West Side Story but Indian and it kinda is, but it also kinda isn't.

Would recommend for those 10 minutes.

I’m so sorry but Enola Holmes 3 was objectively BAAADD.

There were no stakes or any mystery at all and with the new director everyone seemed out of character. I am not even going to comment on the ai newspaper clippings. Also there was barely anything Victorian about it. You could slap a vape into Sherlocks hand and it would fit this disaster of a movie.

Where was the mystery? Where was our Enola? (The independent woman dedective) not the Enola (The bride)

Alright some say the movie was “about Enola not having to be ‘alone’ and building her own life.” as Eudoria also says, but the movie was a watered down slop of what we used to have. WEAAKK plot, they also played the freedom fighter guy as a joke and as much as “fighting British imperialism” was the conflict, they only brushed it off as comedic relief when it was brought up.

And Moriarty apparently left all of her intellects in prison because she was NO mastermind in this movie.

It did NOT feel like an Enola Holmes movie and neither it was good. I waited years for this, with BIG expectations. Give me my two hours and the reputation of Enola Holmes back.

A new director and a new locale doesn’t stop this from playing extremely to formula. It’s lightly entertaining, but the more it went on, the more we stopped caring. It doesn’t help that this really focuses on the romance part, which has consistently been our least favorite part of these movies. We really grapple with the plot here. The story is all against British colonization, but at the same time, we treat the guy working for a free Malta as a joke, and the primary villain is a black woman looking to exploit the colonialism? What are they trying to say???? There’s worse ways to spend an evening but we were pretty disengaged by the end.

Thoughts on Enola Holmes 3:

disclaimer: i truly loved the first 2 but this one is a hot mess.

Who wrote this movie? Who directed this movie? And what is their beef with me personally.

Also who designed Enola's dresses? Cause you cannot convince me that they didn't order the second wedding dress from Shein.

I never would have guessed that they would have a beach non-denominational/anarchist wedding. Why was it officiated by the mother TT and why was Sherlock just standing awkwardly in the corner TT

Also if Tewke gave up his title where did they get the money for the super long honeymoon? May I also add that having them visit Egypt during the credits kind of misses the point of the entire movie???

When the mother said "I've been thinking about your wedding gift" I thought she would gift her the House since they are now penniless and homeless but nope.

They should have just set up the Malta wedding in another movie cause that was a way too convoluted recap at the beginning, Enola.

Do you realize that while Sherlock and Tewk's mother were MISSING and DYING OF THIRST, instead of looking for them Enola and Tewk spontaneously decided to go for a SWIM. in the SEA. What is WRONG with you???

The stolen gold plot also didn't make much sense to me but admittedly I was too horrified by everything else to pay close attention after a certain point. But also stolen gold? What is this, Indiana Jones??

WHY are Enola and Prof Moriarty having full on PHYSICAL FIGHTS. Isn't this movie about them fighting each other with their BRAINS. Why does Moriarty know how to STRANGLE people and why was the strangling attempt not tied in with the guy getting strangled on the road in the flashback.

I can imagine the writers sweating at the optics of having a tall white guy (Sherlock) point a gun at an older black woman (Moriarty) and then being very relieved cause there is an older white woman (Tewke's mother) on the scene and the optics do allow her to smack Moriarty in the head with a brick. ffs

Also did they really have to pick Earnest as a name? Really?

There are only two good things about this: 1, John Watson (whom I really like); 2. Some British children might watch this movie and be confronted at a young age with the history of their empire. Maybe.

btw, Malta only became an independent country in 1964. So having Tewke imply that the British were leaving the island and then not tell the public that in reality it didn't happen for almost another century feels wrong.

I do want to know what Moriarty planned to do with that money tho.

Watching ep 112 of La fea más bella and I can confirm that they used actual B roll from Munich at least in that episode. You can see the Bavarian Parliament and the Town Hall with the old clock in the city centre. #accuracy

...I'm now at episode 120 and I canNOT BELIEVE that they ACTUALLY went to MUNICH. WTF. This is the PLOT TWIST of the CENTURY (to me).

I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE OLYMPIC PARK IN MY ROOM. WHAT ARE THEY DOING THERE.

I'm absolutely flabbergasted.
